is gibbs strong enough to take buddy?
buddy is nothing special in the air and gibbs can position himself as well as anyone (except when trying to tackle motlop 10m from goal....).
and he can run with and off buddy. but does he have the strength?

Gibbs is no where near the athlete buddy is, far too risky IMO.

Bower or Walker would be a better matchup... oh wait.... :hitcomputer:

I wouldn't mind seeing how Wiggo would go in that half-back role running out of defence.

It's the season for players re-inventing themselves, so why not the chief?

We want pace.

You know...like Armfield, Walker, Russell, Bower, Joseph.....Wiggo doesn't have that.

Is Aussie a possibility?

Probably not yet, but with Bower and 1AW out could be a reasonable match up for Buddy.

Throw him the challenge?

After 4 goals and b.o.g. for the Bullants - Hendo for Waite is pretty much a given
Robbo also played another good game so he is in the frame for another spot
Maybe the Chief can play the defensive half-forward role that Hoops has had
Kerr might come in for his first game to replace Lucas
Aussie probably needs some more time but is a possibility

Payback time Blueboys

Let's bring Mil out of retirement for the role.

Payback time allright.

I did think of the Wiggler as the defensive forward if Houla was out, but I think Hodge is a bit too fast for Wiggles.
Possible, but I'd put my money on Robbo; he's Rattens preseason favourite.

Gotta sit on Mitchell. I don't think Joseph can do that job. Failed last year.
But Carrazzo could close him down and give Mitchell grief going the other way.

Armfield on Rioli was the only win for us in the last round of 2008 when we got thrashed by the Dawks and Fev ended on 99.
Armfield today is twice the player he was back in 2008.

I don't Austin has the match fitness to play, but would love to hear that he is ready to play.

Gotta win 3 on the trot.

Waitey out for 2 with an early plea. Not such a bad result really. Take it Carlton, learn from the Judd incident.

So Hendo for Waite obviously

I hate Hawthorn.

I want nothing more then for us to smash these p****s and win 3 in a row.

But with a couple of injuries and the loss of Waite, I think we might be due for a loss.

Hawks are at $3.20... needless to say I'll be putting $50 insurance this week.

I hope I lose.

Jamison on Buddy, Thornton on Roughead.

I don't mind the idea of Hendo and another ruck in (Warnock I'd imagine as Hammer'd be underdone).

Hendo to go back (rather T-bird as 3rd tall) and rucks to rotate through the bench and forward.

Expose the Hawks for height and at the stoppage. We already have them for pace.

With the lack of height we have, thanks to Waite's stupidity, we won't win this game if they get inside 50.

They have no rucks. We do. If our blokes can actually hit our other blokes on the chest or other front-of-body part, this game should be won in the midfield. The Hawks aren't that flash down back if they aren't allowed to just run out of the half-back line with no pressure. This game should be another Yarran/Betts/Garlett blitz.

Hodge is a difficult matchup but not impossible. IMO, with Hodge, Mitchell and Rioli restricted, we should win but I am prepared for a srtruggle. This is one week we have to come to play. If Houla is fit, he will get the roving half-back, whomever it may be. Carrazo, JR and AJ, should manage OK.

Let Buddy and Roughead get their kicks downfield.

Havent seen the hawks for a while. Is Hodge still playing the "Hodge Role" in the backline?

Would be perfect for Houla if so. If Houla is injured i remember Carrazzo doing the job last season.

I think Carrazzo should play on Hodge regardless and Houlihan on Birchall..
Armfiled on Rioli
Joseph on Burgoyne
Jamo on Buddy
Thornton on Roughead

Sewell will go to Judd
