the match ups are interesting for this one. They have some difficult players in their forward line.

Motlop - At his best can be devestating, pretty quick. I think Armfield is the man.
Ebert - Short man but plays taller. Fast on the lead and has good hands. Jamo?
Westhoff - Having a great year, Thornton would be the obvious one.
Gray- Their most improved player. Seems to play up forward and in the middle. I would love to see Russell play on him.
Stewart - Looks like a tough guy and presents well. White.
AJ to Rodan?
Carrazzo to Pearce?

Will they bring in another tall for the loss of Tredrea?

Is everyone forgetting Boak? I'd send AJ to Boak before Rodan.

Unless Brock or another inside mid is right to play, no change IMO.

Trying to inject even more pace into the side Jimmae? If Brock is fit to play, he should try and get some form in the 2s. Last night was the most even performance I can remember. No change unless forced.

I thought brock was terrible against the Pies.

I'd bring him back through the 2's while the team is going well and would play Hadley or Grigg ahead of him a this stage if fit, until he gets some serious form in the 2's

I think it's clear Brock either came into the pies carry an injury when he shouldn't, or he was injured early in the game, either way I don't think you can judge his possible impact on that game. If he is truly injury-free he would come into the current team.

Unless Bower is fit to play, I doubt there will be any changes. Name one player who deserves to be dropped? White will probably miss if Bower is available. He would be unlucky.

I think if Bower is 100% fit they will drop Johnson. Blues will and should persist with White.

thornton!

..always been a fan, but last night he just slowed everything down, and he's far too quick to chip sideways/backwards.. ..even played up forward late in the game, he'd play 'his style', which doesn't seem to be in sync with the rest of the team.. ..last nights weak links were thornton and johnson.. ..not sure if we have anyone ready to replace them though..

..pretty much after round 7 you can say that for the majority of the teams, every game is a danger game.. ..but, port we play well against and have no fear playing them at their home.. ..we should beat them, can't believe how dodgey their percentage is..!!.. ..i reckon we'll win it, or lose it.. ..can't see them 'winning' it on their own without us stuffing it to hell..

Think we will be more inclined to drop Johnson than Thornton (even if T-Bird isn't playing his best footy).

If push comes to shove, who would you pick out of them in your best 22 to save your life? I would pick Thornton.

You don't drop anyone unless Bower is ready to play.

Johnson was good enough with limited game time - I would play him for the next 2 before making a call.

Schultz should come in for Tredrea, maybe even CLOKE!!

Krakour may be injured which would mean the small boys up forward should dominate

Chaplin - Waite
Carlisle - O'hAilpin
Surjan - Betts

who else do they have? don't take much notice of port

I'm with TheSwan on this one. I reckon White is currently the weakest member of our defence and if Bower was right to go I reckon it would be a straight swap. White looks a bit laconic to me, still not quite adjusted to the pace of the game? Also bombed away a couple of times and turned it over. All that said, he's definitely shown he has something to offer so without any obvious replacement (assuming Bower is still out) I'd be happy to persist with White.

On Johnson, I actually thought he was quite serviceable last night. Didn't cough it up like he has done in the past and didn't look out of place.

Johnson looked like he has been working on his physical side of the game, he seemed to go in for the hard ball with more conviction. Having not played at this level for some time it takes a few games to get used to it. I would like to see him in the team for another two weeks. Same with Thornton, give them a chance.

I was a little worried with Lucas. I wouldn't drop him because the good things he does outweighs the bad but when he gets tackled or is under serious pressure, he panics and gives it up too easily. Over the last few weeks, he has kicked without looking. I'm probably being too harsh on a first year player but it's something that's been on my mind the last few weeks. He has still exceeded expectations.

QFT.

I was listening to their game vs. Essendon* on the weekend and a stat that astounded me was that since he's been back in the team, Rodan has been involved in something like 1 in 3 Port goals.

He is so powerful at the stoppages you need someone who can hold their tackles but also be able to strip the ball from him. We can't let him get space out of a stoppage.
