I went to so many humilliating thrashings like this between 2003-2007 that in the end I almost expected to get hammered by 10 goals + by the power clubs every time we played them...

Word association:

Denis Pagan = Embaressing Thrashings

I remember it well. I was set to go to the game with some mates, but was asked out to lunch by my girlfriend at the last minute (we'd only been going out a couple of weeks at that stage).

Long story short, I only found out about the result the next day, but it wasn't exactly at the forefront of my thinking at that stage

Still remember Setant celebrating his goal like it was the sealer...I knew a screw was probably a bit lose even then

I paid to go to MCC as a visitor that day, despite being a member - everytime I've ever done that (e.g. Essendon* last year) we get smashed.

I would bring the family over to watch once a year and we always lost....pretty deflating after the build up for the kids.
In fact I don't think I saw them win a game until last year and I watched them win two! Finally .......:thanks:

The most deflated I've ever felt at a game of football. Ever.

Then of course that week of talk back radio was all about Richmond's great future under Wallace.

mine was the round 22 clash against North, 2003?. 120 points or so. Angwin kicked a few and it started all sorts of rumours about player strikes, who wants out, who hates Pagan etc. To have a match like that as the most recent memory until the next season started was depressing.

We all went through some really tough times as fans but whatever happened in the past including the Richmond game and other games that deflated us, we have ended up where we are now with such a great young playing list!

definately the worst game i've seen Carlton play. totally pathetic that day. I remember Spider Burton weaving through our defenders like he was Peter Daicos.

Without a doubt the worst performance I've ever seen. It was like watching blue witches hats. To make matters worse Angwin (who in my opinion was an unbelievable talent, how ironic Fev dobbed him in  ) never played again

I remember leaving way too early and hearing Setanta kick his goal on the radio as I was heading back down Princes Hwy. Crap day, that.

If you remember the previous game was in freo and the boys busted a nut over there but poor conversion cost them the game. They left nothing out on the field but me gets the feeling Pagan really laid into them afterwards because there could really be no other explanation (well maybe the Carrazzo omission  ) for that performance. We had started that year with such momentum (some may recall we were $15 to win the premiership!!) but it all came crashing down very quickly.

Actually, the previous game was the thrilling come-from-behind win against Hawthorn on the Friday night. The Freo game was the game before the Hawthorn one.

We had actually been very competitive over the first six rounds, despite only picking up two wins and a draw. The Richmond game came out of nowhere in terms of the actual size of the defeat but yes, it fell away badly after that.

Whoops that blows my theory out of the water. Maybe the Carrazzo hamstring?
