As for providing reasoned arguments. I have discussed stats, history, coaches comments, changes in the modern game, reasons for my thoughts, different sides of his game, asked questions about who and why he was recruited, suggested better options, reflected on his 100 game career (not 5 games this season), effects on fellow players, opposition structures, rebutted comments with same and even suggested that I hope for the Blues sake that I am wrong.
Not sure how much more I need to add?
That part.
Just to clarify for the LAST time. The reason for my thoughts are: we recruited a guy that struggled last year and was made to play a run with role by his coach. Having parents and sisters etc that are all mad Melbourne fans I have seen them nearly as much as I have watched Carlton games over the past decade.
Also, working in development for the AFL I get to see a lot more of these players and actually first saw him as a junior. I have watched him live since the start of pre season hoping that I would see why he was recruited and what he would add to a side that made finals last year. There have been question marks over his leg speed, his decision making, his skill level and his commitment to his football YET we go out and offer pick 11 and a three deal prior to trade week and Melbourne jump at it? Why?
As a long time Carlton member and supporter I am concerned when the club makes a decision like this and I have trouble seeing the positives. But as I said I hope I am wrong![/quote]
Thank you, that rounds out what you said previously much better. I seem to have rosier thoughts on his earlier career at Melbourne than you do, however. I also feel that as the modern game has sped up, he's actually slowed down a bit through injury.
I presume the punt we took there was that he is likely to come good. We have enough medical staff to make an assessment and presumably his medical file to make a judgement.

I dont care if he's slow, pace does not worry me.... he lacks alot...of know how, nouse I don't know wtf it is but he is very average for a mature player taken first round.
He needs to stop being a liability will be a very nice start... tackle count won't impress.... he needs to dominate the clearances week in week out... for a mature player taken first round this is what is expected .... period.
I think he's already putting up some pretty good numbers in the contested situations (check my stats listings earlier in this thread) and that leading that category isn't far away for him. He's in a new midfield (unlike many others in the unit) and he's already amongst it in that regard.
