Fine with me ! There are always other players, coaches and officials to take their place - but Carlton will remain forever.

Other players, coaches and officials for you to moan about? Of course there will be.

There are those who support and those who moan.

Just leave it Blue4. He just trolls around these pages looking for reactions. NEVER adds anything to the discussion at all!

He adds 1/10th of a third of the negativity you do.

As a member/supporter I see nothing wrong with questioning why a player was recruited and what value he is supposed to bring to the club. Actually not slagging the person but the decision!

Neither do I, but you provide no reasoned evidence (which along with patience, is the cornerstone of the line of work you're supposedly in) to merit your arguments.

I can stand here and say a bloke is slow, but I actually produce examples. Brock is definitely on the slow side, but he certainly has other attributes and certainly has a positive impact on our game style. Watch the first half of the Pies game and you can see defensive efforts to cover up mistakes by his team mates, the ability to feign and look-away to open up avenues to move on.

So far you've added Brock is slow, he is useless, we could have had Ball and the trade was a joke. You've explained nothing and had a little fit across about 15 posts. Break down your higher reasoning so us mere mortals can follow your logic.

Surely if we're the boys and you're the man, you can exercise a little patience and educate us?

And you're behaving like a child, which perhaps explains why you continue to engage said clown.

So you are suffering from delusions of grandeur?

We could have had Ball...when did I say that? I think he's just as bad....

Logic we gave up a first round pick....fine recruit a mature player no problem, fine, make it first round but if we are to have 10 boxes that need to be ticked can that player at least tick majority of them?

1. Fitness/health/injury etc
2. Pace/non pace
3. B&F history
4. Brownlow history
5. Skill attributes
6. Mental attributes
7. Physical attributes
8. Plot a chart performance over five years in a dream team format if you wish [is it going up or is it going down]
9. Flair/vision/courage
10. Currency/value

I think he will fail in most of these categories. I think a kid would have served us far better.. I think Browne, Anderson output would have been far better than this over rated player.

Just so wrong on so many levels.

As for providing reasoned arguments. I have discussed stats, history, coaches comments, changes in the modern game, reasons for my thoughts, different sides of his game, asked questions about who and why he was recruited, suggested better options, reflected on his 100 game career (not 5 games this season), effects on fellow players, opposition structures, rebutted comments with same and even suggested that I hope for the Blues sake that I am wrong.

Not sure how much more I need to add?

How's this for an exercise: with the exception of Luke Ball & Kane Lucas, analyse the players taken from picks 11 - 43 (our third rounder, which from this discussion I gather is your evaluation of his worth). Tell me which ones you feel rate higher than McLean right now in terms of current ability, then tell me which ones you think will rate higher than McLean in 3 years.

Here's picks 11 -30! How many of these would you take before McLean?

Daniel Talia Adelaide
Lewis Jetta Sydney
Christian Howard Western Bulldogs
Jasper Pittard Port Adelaide
Daniel Menzel Geelong
Luke Tapscott Melbourne
Benjamin Griffiths Richmond
Nathan Fyfe Fremantle
Ryan Bastinac North Melbourne

Gerrick Weedon West Coast
Koby Stevens West Coast
Jake Carlisle Essendon*
Aaron Black North Melbourne
Travis Colyer Essendon*
Callum Bartlett Brisbane Lions
Mitch Duncan Geelong
Jack Gunston Adelaide
Luke Ball Collingwood

Lot of quality there. Most playing AFL already and I would rate having more ability than Mclean and definitely more to work with for the future!

The rookies highlighted are already better value; in fact, apart from Colyer they have been super impressive.

Most of the rest on that list haven't played yet!!

I'll add something: McLean is slow.
I've seen it with my own eyes.

I know it sounds weird to all his fans who suggest he does the physical stuff we need, but I see him as a bloke who decides when he has a dip and when he is going to run forward/ or stand still expecting the receive. When he does that, he's not doing his role.

What is your expectation of Brock? In and Under? If so, then expect it of him; he's not 100% on that job.
If he doesn't want to do the job he's been recruited for, and he feels bigger than the team, then he can @#$%&! off for all I scare, because I too feel at the moment that pick 11 was a bit rich.

Not saying Brock can't get off his high horse, swallow his pride and get fair dinkum as to why he was recruited.

IMO, atm he is overrated. I just want to see more of the hard work, and then dishing it off like he was suppose to. Otherwise he's Bentick revisited. I expect more....every week thus far. Have I goty low standards or do his fans have low standards? Dunno. What I do know, is that, hoenstly, I'm not impressed, regardless of how much I want to pretend to be with opposition supporters.

How did he go Round 1?

How did he come second in the B&F years ago, you know like way back in 2008, only playing 14 games?
