I am very surprised about Warnock getting dropped! Good luck to Jacobs.

I would still like to see Waite in the side.

Tony Shaw on AFL Teams last night saying we won because Geelong were flat and off their game.

A good win against this mob will gain us some respect.

Didn't see the show Rexy, but I do know this.
The players earnt Our respect on Monday, and I don't give a flying figg what any one else thinks of us.
We know now that they can deliver at a very high level.
If they give their all...that's all I want...I hear everyone tipping C'wood...doesn't bother me.
I believe in the boys.....
keep seeing a tidal wave which has not yet landed on the shore...with all us fans and the team all wrapped up in it...so I reckon that is a good omen.
As long as they try for 4 quarters Rexy...the people who count will notice.
us.

Does anyone else have a problem with being wrapped up in a tidal wave that's about to hit the shore?

Guess what they will say if we beat Coll on Sun? Exactly the same thing. So let it be and we can quietly go about our business of winning football games.

PS: A win this week and I think my trust in the playing group will be back.

..lookit, Knockers has been ok around the ground, better in tackles and smothers vs marking.. ..but as a 206 ruck, his hitout numbers ain't all that jazzy to date.. ..glad to see Jacobs come in [though would rather Hammer was fit].. ..our gameplan includes two Rucks, all pre-season and main season so far.. ..with the faster speed of the game, and the high rotation numbers, IF you've got quality ruck stocks, you use them..

..as for Setanta, he's our best option for FF.. ..i reckon he's a far better contested mark than Waite, who's more a leading forward, or one that likes to float across.. and Setanta's got an understanding going with the other smaller forwards.. ..when Waite comes back in, i'd rather he played a roaming roam further up-field..

..Bower, happy to see him back, just hope he's 100%, especially fitness wise, since the pie fwds tend to roam.. ..will he be picking up cloke..?..

It amazes me that anytime the blues beat a good side, the shaw's of the world say that the good side (the cats) had an off day.

Perhaps, little shrimp shawy, that the cats had an off day due to the boys in navy applying all sorts of pressure at all times in all contests all over the ground. Something the cats didn't have to worry about the week before.

Happy for Shaw to say that.
Happy if Ratts plays it to the boys before the match.

Truth is, we're good enough to beat this mob.
BUT, since we've become good enough (last year or so) we have often failed to beat the teams one rung up from us when on a roll (Adelaide, Hawthorn, Collingwood 2nd match last year...) or some of the teams below us that we are expected to win (eg. Essendon*). We play our best as underdogs but to take the next step we need to win games like this one.

In my view, if we can win one of the next 2 matches AND THEN BACK IT UP by winning the games we 'should' win from then on, we will have taken the next step that we need to take.

I N T E N S I T Y.

we need to be able to find a way thru the 16 collingwood players that will be in our forward line most of the time, cause that will be there gameplan, a kicking efficiency of 73% like last week or similar will get us the 4 points!!!

If 16 Collingwood players are there most of the time CFC will win, because they are not kicking the score Collingwood will need to win.

The Collingwood scoring depends on their mid field players getting the ball to the advantage of their forwards who tend to be Medhurst, Didak and sometimes Cloke. They like to direct the play the with short kicks from positions between wing and half foward close to the boundary and then swing the ball at between the 35 to 50 metres point in front of goal for a high return scoring opportunity.

Collingwood like to play Maxwell as a free player in their back line. He can then set up running play to bring the ball forward of the centreline.

We should return this option with someone like Gibbs parking him self around the centre half forward position to mark these forward 50 entries from the flanks.

This will force they to go deep and make it easier to pick off the long ball.

The selection of Jacobs is critical as it will put a lot of direct pressure on Jolly. If we can break even in the clearances then we can be competitive all over the ground and should just be in front late in the last quarter. Kreuzer can keep the pressure on Fraser but he cannot beat both ruckmen. Jacobs and Kreuzer can run forward and make it hard for the Collingwood defense (who are not all that tall). If they cannot mark the ball, they can direct it as ruckmen to the advantage of the running small forwards.

Warnock has been solid but Jacobs has clearly just banged down the door in the twos. Solid clearly isn't good enough anymore

Guys we lost to a shite Essendon*, and a team that just lost to the 2009 wooden spooners, not so long ago. I think Shaw has good reasons not to show us any respect. Most of you may have forgotten with the joy of the Geelong victory but I'm still very bitter about us losing to such a rubbish team and it'll take a lot longer to get that bitter taste out of my mouth.

I know that sounds very negative but that's just how I feel.
