Looks as though this game is going to be on around 1 hour delay across the country due to the motor racing (WA 10 hours  )...

The 3pm Sunday CH7 (Melb.) timeslot is the worst of the 8 match timeslots. 1 hr delay chocked full of ads.
I can't attend so I think I'd rather listen to 3LO and watch the FOX replay at 7.30pm.

Like the Aussie test team, it should be harder to get dropped, then be selected.

Bower for Walker and that's it.

Armfield is a jet.

HEAPS of people had us 1 and 8 after 9 rounds. Let's show these "experts" what we are made of.

The Image will be well and truly off if we can knock off the Pies this week and then the Saints. :smoking:

..wouldn't drop Hendos nor Setant'.. ..they both provide good structure, both play team orientated styles and both are extremely hard working.. ..i'm a little concerned that Bower's missed too many games to come straight back in..

I suppose it would depend on how Bower trains this week. I see it as either Bower or Waite for AW.

Agree with you on Setanta and Hendo. Don't change a successful structure. If it aint broke...

We just need to turn up and play football. It worked last week.

If Waite is ready to go you have to drop someone.

In Bower/Waite
Out Walker

Hendo needs to be perservered with

Army on Shaw
JR on Didak
Joseph on Davis
And can someone take out Maxwell. I loathe him....the modern day Jason Cloke

If Waite comes in, FFS, play him on the wing. He will light up the G with time and space

From Monday's game, I do recall more than one forward leading well up the ground and having the ball kicked to him.

One wears 19 on his back and the other wears 13.

Eddie marked some of these balls on his chest to protect the ball from a rapidly closing defender. When you as short as he is this is a sensible tactic.

The identified deficiency of a leading forward was in fact supplied in this game.

Perhaps the versatility of this playing group surprises even some of the supporters.

Let's hope that opposition coaches are also surprised by what they see.

I agree but long term we won't win a Grand Final with Betts and Yarran as our leading forwards

I said at the start of the year we would waste 6 to 8 weeks on Ohalpin and it sure looks like its turning out that way- Had no idea what Hendo would be like but he has youth on his side

The first two games they contributed 11 goals between them and the football world was drawn to them since then they have in 3 games supplied us with 5 goals -Both did fairly reasonable jobs on the weekend negating the run off half back of Taylor and Lonegan but they are big forwards they are there to kick goals - The current set up is not going to stand up unless these two start producing results like they did in round 1 & 2- and at present Hendo cant hold a grab and Ohalpin seems clueless

I wouldn't be to upset to see Waite and Bower or even Wiggens come in at the expense of these two at this stage but it most likely wont happen until after the StKilda game
Two games coming up with well drilled defensive structures these two will struggle .Come the mid season break Hendo will survive to live another day partly beause of his youth but the MC and Ratts will has lost patience and we will finally see the end of the Irish experiment unless of course injuries give him yet another reprieve

Methinks we'll see the very tall Fijian Irishman play the entire season, unless injured.

Can we get first hands to the ball? Yes, we have Judd, Scotto, Kreuzer and Mclean.

Can we maintain possession and limit turnovers? Yes, it showed last week. Kicking was very good.

Can we apply enough pressure on them when they have possession? Yes, we have done for two weeks running.

Malthouse? He's a great coach but I'm telling you this team is primarily made up of vanilla players who know their role extraordinarily well. When the pressure is on the individual player and he is rushed you just watch. They aren't good enough.

If we turn up to play we will win this. I'm just not sure if we can 3 weeks in a row.....consistency has been an issue for us for many years now.

I'd rather make him earn it. AFAIC, he hasn't shown the neccessary form to tip someone out of a winning side.

I am going to miss this game in every way.
I'll be trying to get some sort of live feed back in Mexico but if we can beat Geelong with their best side in (bar two) we can beat Collingwood.
Cloke is a week to week prospect like Hawkins and he is their focal point up front. Apart from that they have a smallish forward line like our current one.
Based on last week's performances by Armfield/Gibbs/Russell/Lucas, we should be able to cover the Didaks and co of Collingwood. Our midfield is at least the equal of theirs and unless they get their backline right they will struggle against us. Harry O'Brien is in career best form and will run off Henserdon so that is a worry. Hendo HAS to hold his marks this week. Last week he dropped two reasonably hard ones running with the flight and two reasonably easy ones on the lead.
Setanta is doing his job. One goal last week and one handball to Eddie when he could have kicked it himself plus not losing one contested marking contest yet again has him bringing the ball to ground at almost every contest. Those who are calling for him to be dropped probably don't realize that the small forwards kick goals from crumbs and as long as Setanta can either mark or bring the ball to ground, PLUS kick his two a week, he is safe.
For me, Houlihan has been great in the last two weeks. His attack on the footy down forward plus his undoubted kicking skills has been one of the main reasons we have kicked goals. His delivery into the F50 is second to none and if Ratten ever plays him in defence again he needs his head read. He can't possibly be the only person who is oblivious to Houlihan's ability to contribute up front. PLUS he did a job on Byrne.
I will be listening on the scratchy, dropping out, middle of the night, uncomfortable kitchen table with the mozzies buzzing around commentary and hoping for a stirling effort and a big four points.
Just like my dad used to do forty years and more ago.
This one would be Oh so sweet with the Pies on a roll and us the underdog yet again.

You mean he did a job on Enright?

I imagine Hoops will get the job on Heath Shaw this week.

If he can limit Shaw's touches to 15 and kick 2-3 goals himself we'll be on the way to a win.

I would love us to shut that snivelling little sh#@s mouth - Heath Shaw.

Dear Heath, is very confident they will beat us and stop our 3 little speedsters.

Dont get me started on that idiot Beams, who apparently is very confident.

Can they shut their flower mouths ?

RRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
