Fair call!
I just wanted to get feed back form other people.

When my 8yo son says gee he take's forever to get moving and get the ball to his boot i thought i would throw it out there .

I'd Love to see him shooting handballs's off to runner's like Judd Simpson Murph Gibbs etc rather than see him trying to take off from a pack and kick it thats all :)

He was in the thick of every single contest on monday! How much more do you want?

Great pickup especially considering we would have taken lucas at pick 11 anyway.

Sometimes this site makes me shiver with some of the nonsense that is written.

Which was the last premiership side that won without 2 hard bodied clearance players?
2009: Ablett and Bartel
2008: Mitchell and Sewell
2007: Ablett and Bartel
2006: Cousins and Judd
2005: Kirk and Bolton
I'm forgetting who Port had in 2004
Brisbane had Voss and Black from 2001-2003.

Which of those guys is / were quick?
Ablett, Cousins, Judd

Why are Judd and Ablett so valuable?
Because they're the only quick clearance players in the league.

How many hard bodied clearance players did we have last year?
One - Judd. So we were one short of that required for a flag.

Could we have added another quick clearance player?
No - Ablett is the only other one available.

Which slower, but hard bodied clearance players were available?
Ball and MacLean.

Who is better out of Ball and MacLean?
Ball is older, slower, and can't kick 10 metres. MacLean is a better player.

Who do we choose out of Hadley and MacLean?
Hadley - ok in packs, terrible outside of packs, rumoured not play to coach's instructions
MacLean - good in packs, ok outside of packs, sticks to the gameplan

MacLean has been essential for this side. He allows Gibbs to go back. He frees up Murphy and Judd from continual need to win the hardball. He dishes the ball off to good users of the footy like Simmo and Scotland. In other words... he is an essential component of this team.

My point with earlier post was not to knock McLean ... just an observation that he does not seem to be at his best, possibly under an injury cloud ..... and that we have a very good back-up waiting in the wings .... why is Hadley not getting a go when it appears McLean might be hampered by injury? It mystifies me when Hadley was in much better form than McLean in the pre-season and made us a better team last year when he was played. (in the same way McLean does)

Mate, pull out a replay of all the games so far, minus the Essendon* game when he was injured very early, and you will see just how valuable Brock has been.

At the minute i'd prefer Brock in instead of Hadley, who may be doing a good job also, for the simple reasons that he's doing the job admirably and he has a large bout of cauliflower in him.

..i agree that Brock is possibly a little sore/inj, but even at a little under 100% he's a better option than Hads.. ..i reckon he'll be better for the run, and should be right for the maggies.. ..Brock gives more than just stats.. ..he's physical in and around the packs.. ..he provides blocks, but can also hunt his own ball at stoppages..

Brock is a smart player and can show what he can do against Richmond and Brisbane - I am almost certain he is carrying an injury. Sure we needed and in and under type player and bump Judds opponent off the ball etc.. but someone like Wiggo or Ando can be trained to do the same[why do skill coaches exist?]... he turned the ball over alot.

Wiggo suffers from bouts of indecision, by which time he will be wrapped up in a tackle and watching his man take the free.

Ando is going to do what exactly, put on another 8 kilos overnight?

I dont think he has got enough pace for today's game,At the moment, Mick Nolan looked faster!! Deisel was the last modern player who lacked any pace, but made up for it in other ways.Brock is good in the clinches, but then again so is Hadlee.

Wilson was HBF?wing

The other was the most impressive of the lot: Josh Francou. Amazing clearance player. Amazing. Dieselesque in getting the ball.

Mostly played in defence, but spent time in the middle giving the others a rest.

Francou was injured the whole 2004 season.

But yes before he was injured, he was the best of the lot; an absolutely fantastic player.

2009: Ablett and Bartel he is not even close
2008: Mitchell and Sewell is as slow a Mitchell but clear a posession as quick
2007: Ablett and Bartel
2006: Cousins and Judd its unfair to compare him to either of these players
2005: Kirk and Bolton I havnt paid enough attention on them to compare but going of the nab he a level or so lower

Wasnt the case today :banghead:

The idea of Mclean Gets me excited its just watching him live just makes me shrug my shoulders i know who i would have rather had today.
This post WAS NOT ment to be a Hate Brock post sorry if any body thought it was.
