since he has never played with a fingerless glove, and it wasnt overly cold or wet at training, it would be safe to assume that glove is giving him some sort of protection.

It would hint at any thumb injury being closer to the base than the end.

Perhaps it is his left hand thumb causing the problem. It looks like it is missing in both photos. The glove on the right hand is to just throw people off the scent...

Swan was just on SEN with Kevin Barlett, he was asked again about Gibbss' contract and he said it was in the final stages and he said he wasnt going anywhere.
He also asked members who hadnt signed up to do so, sounds like numbers are down a bit.
Walker had a plate inserted this morning and should be 4-6 weeks.

So WTF is happening with this?? With all this talk about Gary staying, Gibbs would have to the the GC next big scalp. Can't wait to see another one if carltons top draft picks taken away for nothing...

Gibbsy is just waiting to see who finishes last this season Richmond or ADELAIDE, he should have a better indication this week.

Doesn't matter who finishes last, GC have the first 200,000 picks in the pre season draft anyway

he will sign. i've heard from numerous people who know players that it is their clubs who tell them not to announce they are staying at their club straight away. don't know what the logic behind it is but think roughead, franklin and hurley. all these blokes knew they were going nowhere all along. take that for what you will.

Hutchy just reported on TFS that GC are chasing him hard and that Carlton aren't that close to signing him.

Not surprised. Bryce has to listen to offers and get the deal that suits best. If that's Carlton, great - if not, c'est la vie.

The same day the hun does an article talking about how GC's options are running thin with so many re-signings, we get this. Funny that. Quality journalism as usual, going down the list of players yet to sign, picking the best one out, and saying GC are after them.

No shit Sherlock!

That said, I'm sick of waiting. We were told months ago he was about to re-sign, and there were just fine print go through. Must be some epic @#$%&! fine print to take 3 months to crawl through.

I highly highly doubt Gibbs would go to GC.. Highly doubt it.
I know there is an increase in his pay packet if he heads north, but that is probably the only alluring thing about it.
He is an integral part of our clubs surge for a 17th flag.. He's been with us for three years. We're getting our shit together on the field... his manager might be using the media to up his pay packet a little bit.
In all seriousness, it's a fairly easy decision I think..

Bryce's manager wouldn't be doing his job properly if he didn't play us off against the GC.

Offer him what he is worth which is probably similar to what Murphy gets. If he wants more money he should go to GC.

I think he isnt about that and will sign for the blue boys.

I've been concerned about this for a couple of months now.

No doubt Gibbs and his management would be silly not to leverage off the GC to try and 'beef up' a deal. But I think there may be more to this now.

For one - Gibbs may consider himself a little stiff that he plays second fiddle to Judd, Murph etc. Not sure whether playing off half back would be his preference. He could justifiably be the no. 1 midfielder at at least another 8-10 clubs.

Secondly - not being a Victorian means that he naturally would not feel the same way about staying here as another Vic boy would. Yes I know he is from SA but still living at GC would be like living in Vic for him - both are away from his home state.

Thirdly - with almost all of the big names turning their back on GC (apart from Ablett who is yet to decide) there would obviously be a fair bit of money on offer. Just like many would agree that it would be tough for Ablett to say no to $1.5mil a season....similarly it would be tough for Gibbs to say no to a deal close to $1mil a season which I think he probably could get.

And finally if we put all our personal preferences aside - life for a 22 year old in the Gold Coast earning $1mil a year to play footy would be a pretty sweet deal.

I like all Blues fans will be devastated to lose Gibbs. Our future captain IMO. But we would be very naive to think that he will not seriously give consideration to a GC deal.

Greg Swan will be on SEN soon, I am sure they will put the question to him. Worth a listen.

Meh.
If he wants to go, as long as we get adequate compensation, so be it.
You want blokes in the Navy blue who want to be there. Personally I hope he stays but it's not worth paying well over the odds.
