Game panned out as predicted.
Granted my wish for my 50th Birthday.
Great team effort.

Forwards: Black Magic. No way the Cats could hold these 3
Midfield: Dominated again as expected (Judd, Scotto, Simmo, Murph)
Backline: Pace and agility will leave the Cats fwds for dead
Rucks led by Kreuzer will leave the Cats rucks gasping for air.
Judd BOG for mine
Walker will be back
Houla on Enright...just closed down the attacking HB and snagged a couple of goals.
Attacking HB line with Armfield, Russell and Lucas. ARMY!!!!!!!!
Cats kicking for goal. Missed at least 6 sitters.
We have Waite, Bower, Hadley, Thornton, Robinson, Hampson, Austin, Jacobs....putting pressure on spots
Hampson starts his season next week with the Ants.

CONS

Walker's collarbone injury...just when he's hit his straps.
Looking for cons is hard after such a great team win:

McLean...sure he's blue collar, but it's time for Hadley imo
Joseph trying to take on GAblett and getting caught. Not in form.
Carrots was pretty quiet too. Not in form.
Warnock also not in form.
Kreuzers kicking for goal. WTF?

NEXT...the Magpies: Redemption.

Bondi, I thought Carrots' second quarter was a ripper.

Can't believe how composed Lucas has been in the real stuff after looking a bit jittey in the nab cup. Really solid contributor.

Russell... how good is this bloke now. He's automatic.

Walker - reason 4768563 why I should never be in a position to make decisions in a football club. I wanted him forward, he finds his role down back. And then some. Get well soon.

I am coming around on armfield, I just wish he would work within his limitations... firing off a 20m handball into heavy traffic is not something he should consider.

I would love to see Gibbs unleashed forward of centre more, but if we're going to get that sort of lesson in composure from him across halfback I will cope

Simpson - I want you to play forever.

And of course everyone else that has been mentioned.

I wouldn't sweat too much on Henderson and Setanta... I will defer to those more learned, but from my spot it looks like their role was to keep dragging the taller defenders away to leave the small trio as much space as possible to weave their magic. So it was largely a fairly thankless task for them. Absolutely Hendo could ahve amrked better when given the opportunities, but I do think he performed his main role well. Wouldn't think he'd be dropped next week.

CONS

Only the obvious - can't believe the bad luck Walks has. He's found a role, all he needs now is some luck with his body.

I'm going to check it out again...with pleasure.

I am a Carrazzo fan, but he didn't really stand out for me yesterday, so I ask whether form is the issue.

Off I go to watch the 2nd Q

Cheers DB

I think it was more that many others players performed so much better, that Carrots looked much quieter.

How exciting - fantastic game. Really wonderful to see and my 3 year old cheered most of it, as was the crowd.

Rather than the pros and cons can I just make a few observations on the potential cons raised:

Warnock - his work around the ball wasn't that bad, a few smothers and tackles and shepherds. Good to see. He got more game time, showing better fintess, which allowed Kreuzer up forward in stints.

McLean - good solid clearance protection and Im sure Judd would be happy with McLean there.

As an aside I think this morning's pro-Ablett press is abit off the mark. I think we squeezed their key players and whilst he got a lot of the ball, he's not my BOG.

Carrots had a day that reminded me of the old joke about 'Carrazzo' being Italian for 'turnover'. Hopefully just an off day.

Personally I thought Carrazza was fantastic yesterday- the work he did off the ball (the blocking, cleanliness below his knees, quick hands) was first class.

I think it is also Greek for 'run in circles until team-mates are manned up and forwards have led out of position'.

Pro- Our bottom six players didn't need to be pulled along by our top six.
O'hailpin and Hendersen playing KPP roles above their ability
Cazzemans balanced view re Carrazzo

Cons
- We will need a player capable of taking a contested mark in the forward line if we are to win a premiership & if we can not recruit one, Warnock, Hampson and Jacobs need to develop to allow Kreuzer to play Forward

a bit hard on Andrew I reckon wasnt a bad kick to young Jeffrey over the head of the defender wojo in the last yesterday -wasnt his best yesterday but if thats the only performance we need to be critical of not a bad day

Pro

Not a bad day to be sitting next to a couple of Geelong supporters
Beautiful Sunny day
71 k crowd adding to clubs coffers

Going to the ground against a very good opponent knowing we have some chance

the performance of the 3 krakauer brothers

Watching exciting young team -yarran gibbs kreuz garlett hendo white lucas

Watching a couple of beautiful bald superstars plying their trade

NO LONGER reliant on Hollywood kicking a bag to win

Gang tackling -keeping it in the forward line

Putting scoreboard pressure on

Not wilting at pressure from milburn rooke etc

Good cohesive backline

Continuing development arnfield russell

Scotland at pick 31 still a steal thanks Carringbush

Eddie and Yarran 45- 50 metres out taking the responsibility and kicking for goal and nailing it

Con

AW injury

Bondi, i loved that he took Ablett on. Thats how we beat them. Run and carry and not afraid or in awe of them. If he had of got passed its a goal.
I thought AJ did well on him and gets into his head. Will be great battles between these two for many seasons, especially as AJ gains more experience.

PROS: No smug txts from friends about how good Geelong are..
The Carlton song playing at the end of the game..
Having to go to Kardinia Park for work and just gently rubbing it in THAT WE WON!!

CONS: No congrats txts from my Geelong-supporting friends  Sore losers, all of them
And of course the obvious, AW's injury.
