Pro:

The run from our backline minus Thornton. Lucas, White etc have added another dimension.

Pros:

Our intensity at the contest. It wasn't that long ago that Geelong players would easily push us aside.

Thought Walker got us buzzing with his run and carry.

Very impressed with our small forwards.

We hemmed them in on their kick outs.

Cons:

Walkers injury. This bloke needs continuity and all he gets is bad luck.

Henderson and O'Hailpin ... you have to hold them. In particular Henderson appears to go for marks thinking he isn't going to get it anyway. Needs more command when flying for marks.

Pros - Commitment to the cause

Cons - If Carrots continues to prop and stop and run in @#$^* circles then cough it up, he will join T-Bird in the VFL before long.
AJ breaking the team rules by trying to take Gazza Jnr on in the last Q instead of kicking the ball long for Eddie to run onto. Stupid, stupid effort.

Regards Cazzesman

Bumped into Paul Bower on the way out. He hopes to play this coming week but not sure if VFL or AFL. He has missed 4 weeks so a run in the VFL might not hurt.

Regards Cazzesman

Normally I would say back through the VFL BUT he is such a good match up for Cloke!

Ratt's said after the game in reference to the return of J.Waite to bolster the defence after a good performance in the VFL that Bower would be back next week, so expect his return straight back into the back 6.

Ratten said after the game that Bower would definitely be back into the team next week, and that he could have played this week but that there was a small risk and they decided to leave it another week.

Pros
- Great team effort and well coached by Ratts

Cons
- Walker's injury
- Henderson dropping marks. He is still young however and has plenty of improvement.
- AJ needs to add an offensive side to his game IMO.

Pros:

Bryce Gibbs with ball in hand. Big call, but is there any other player in the comp you would prefer in possesion of the ball? His combo of skill, vision, composure and decision making put him right up there. That and he glides through clusters of players and creates space like few others.

Dennis Armfield- has amazing pace and also uses it well. Some very nice disposal by foot also today
Whites braveness

Cons:
AJ just isnt the player he was last year. Has he got ahead of himself?
Henderson just isn't putting it together and is having no impact on games at the moment. Still a fan though.

Pros:

Judd at his brutal best
Scotland, Houlihan's experience
Russell's confidence in the backline
The Betts, Yarran and Garlett show
Gibbs' quality
Setanta's contest
Armfield's improvement
Lucas and White fitting straight into the team
Bower and Waite to come back in

Cons:

Walker's injury
AJ's turnovers and getting ahead of himself against Ablett

pros
1) we won
2) individuals who have played less than 20 games and will better for the experience........in this I include Hendo (will be a better forward for having played on Milburn).
3) setanta continues to contest and bring the ball to ground - creating opportunities for the terrible trio!

Pros:

Judd - I love this bloke
Russell - WOW, has he stepped up or what?
Gibbs' best game for the year
Lucas looks like a 10 year player, playing with poise
White was good again down back, looks like a bargain recruit
Scotland and Simmo running through the middle and setting up goals, Scotto's effort to set up Judd in that crucial period in the 3rd was sensational
Yarran and Garlett - exciting to watch, and they still have plenty of room for improvement!
4 quarter effort

Cons:

Henderson needs a few games in the Ants, just had no impact at all
McLean had a bit of a shocker I thought, is he still not fully fit?
Walkers shoulder, he was doing so well
Umpiring was pathetic at times, Ablett joins Riewoldt as the most protected player in the league
A few panicky moments in the last quarter, we still struggle to close the game out at times

Great win, going to be an epic game against the pies this week

Henderson spent most of the game playing on Lonergan.

Pros

Beating them twice in a row. Was not long ago at all that they gave us no respect. Gee was nice to see Bomber so glum in the box

The Brothers :thanks: Who said there's no room for three of them - and they each bring something different to the team. Garlett pure pace and amazing marking at speed with someone right on his hammer. Yaz, pure class and never rushes his disposal. And Eddie's just Eddie.

The great man. Nuff said.

1AW  Great drive off the hopeless big lug Tomahawk. Was right among our best when he went down

JR - the bloke has become a rock and also very damaging with his run :donk:

Simmo - just gives 100% every week and hurts sides with his run and carry.

Lucas :smoking: Moves very well, reads the play very early, great kick and good overhead. And still only a kid. Thanks Hughesy :gift:

Scotto covers more ground than the Leyland brothers and tough as nails :donk:

Great team effort for pretty much the entire game. Tackling and willingness to chase was at the level required if we are to beat these top teams. Hardly a weak link.

The 17th is closer than you think (who could have thought that after the Bummers debacle ?)

Con

1AW. So sad to see him go down yet again. He was blitzing, and the playing him on these big slow forwards was proving a masterstroke. Quick recovery andy

No one has really mentioned him, but Simpson continues his great season. Runs as hard as anyone in the AFL. Look how many times he starts with the ball in backline then receives it in forward line. Always finds space, slips under the radar of opposition, commentators and fans.

The biggest PRO for me was the fact we had a slow start and managed to get on top. At the first few centre bounces it looked like the Cats had at least two extra players in the middle, they were smashing us at the clearances. We don't fear Geelong, they don't intimidate us and we need to take that belief into every game we play.

Next best PRO was the fact we were able to maintain our intensity once we took control of the game. Our effort without the ball was sensational. Further to that our tempo footy worked well today. Yes it is ugly, but the fact we are getting better at executing the plan is a sign our group is on an upward trend. Also indicates the team is getting better at following the coach's instructions.

The obvious CON is Walker's injury. Looks like he has six weeks out with a dud collar bone. Hope he gets back and builds on his good form to date.

The only other CON to come to mind, and this is a tough one, but Hendo dropped some marks today he should have taken. He will get better and we know he has the talent, so not sure if he just had one of those days, or whether he just needs more experience. I am loving his team first attributes though, we have bagged a winner with this guy, just hope we persevere with him.

One more PRO, which is a bit of an all sorts combination ... Chelsea won 7-nil, Carlton knocked off the reigning premiers and it was a long weekend. :smoking:

Simpson was great, I agree. He is having a sterling year so far.
