Sad to see Robbo omitted. Love his intensity and attack at the contest. Just hope he gets a real go in the midfield for the ants to develop his inside skills.

Looking forward to see the Brock/Juddy combination in action.
Will they rotate as inside extractors or will Juddy work more outside with Brock feeding him?

Tear me down on this, but I reckon we're a real chance.

A week's a long time in footy, but if you take out the Bombers shocker, our form this year has been very solid, consider:

1. NAB loss to Swans by only 2 goals @ Bankstown. This performance has taken on a whole new meaning, Swannies looking top 6 at the minute;
2. Win over Brions pre-season and a very honourable loss @ the Gabba after leading 3/4 time;
3. AAMI hammering of Crows (always a tough gig, don't care how they're travelling); and
4. Ritualistic slaughter of the Tiges, ho hum.

Coupled with the fact that we beat the Cats last time by 6 goals, why can't go in with some confidence?

Love McLean for Robbo, one seasoned tough nut for the younger and less proven one. McLean will be super for us if 100% right. With the likelihood of rain, a strong body such as his will be very welcome.

Carrots to Bartel could be a crucial match up for us, Carrots has a good record on him from their junior days. He did a great job on Watson after 1/2 time in the Bombers fiasco.

Really looking forward to this one, it will go down to the wire. The 3 blues brothers up forward, expect some havoc.

The Cats definately used up some of the goals they were meant to kick on us last week.
You just can't kick 11 goals in a quarter, and hope to play like that again the next week.
It's like how we all have a finite number of breaths per lifetime.
They've just overused their goal quota, and they are going down!
Also...it is written in the great book(somewhere)
that if ever a Scartlett and a Gartlett cross paths.....the Moon will not shine....there will be no Ling in Dazzling....the Pod will need a foot doctor...the Chappie won't be happy...
well...you get the gist....
therefore...and irrefutably...or inscrutably...or ridiculously....
this game is ours for the taking.
 Go Bluesies!!!

would not be surprised to see the irishman playing defence at times on one of those big boys with kruezer and hendeeson being the talls up fwd.

big job for walks who would not have played on a seasoned big fella many times over his career.

The music girl is very "supersticious".
I was thinking along similar lines last weekend.
And you know what, I think they did use up their credits.

PS: I remember back in the Pickering-Bairstow-Ablett-Browne days when they kicked hude 25 goal scores week after week.
That was a long time ago. Everything has changed since then.
For one, we were on top of the ladder...or around there year after year.

Happy with the selections. Lets skin those cats.
Good luck to those young ones playing against the best in the business (ie till Mdnday).

i'm just stoked the lads can go out there and take the hand break off, play with out the pressure of favouritisim and have a crack at one of the best sides in recent memory.

judd and brock in the middle is mouth watering indeed.

as long as we show something i'll be pretty content.

a win would be oh so sweet however.

A win in this game against the cats would be a great step forward for us IMO...as we are playing them early on in the season with a lot more riding on the result than there was when we played last time.

It would be foolish to think that because they played so well last week that they would be easier to beat this week...this is illogical to say the least..if anything they are now even more switched on and are finding some form which means we have to be at our best in all areas to have any chance whatsoever.

If we play to our strengths which to play free flowing footy we may be able to stay with them...but if we revert to negative tactics and worry too much about their stars and how we are going to stop them...we will get pummeled.

We have the side to beat the cats...we just need to be switched on and have the courage to play OUR game and dare to win for a change rather try not to lose..tactics will play a big part.

Looking forward to this one...Mclean and Judd in the same side....Could be the first time we see Judd free to run and carry without 10 blokes hanging off him....if we can capitalise on this and use our pace to break the game open it's game on.

Don't be silly. They're still going to tag Judd and he'll still have 10 blokes hanging off him. Mclean needs to be damaging from Q1 or else he won't be drawing heat away from anyone. This is his first big test.

What I meant was that Mclean could at least relieve Judd of the in an under work...but ur right it does sound silly now that i think about it....

For us to win. We will have to be switched right on. Each player has to concentrate on making every pass perfect, every handpass hit its target, clean hands, run and run some more, take the marks they should and most of all tackle and harrass and apply relentless pressure. We need to force turnovers. Its not going to be easy because they are an experienced and a hardened bunch of men but we are maturing and now is the time for our players to make a statement.

If we fall short on any of the above we will lose. If we nail them all we have a chance.

Its a big gamble going for a running backline against their big lugs but i admire Ratts for taking the punt. Its our best shot at a win.

Go Blues !

From memory, Pods kicked 7 on Carlos in 2008, and I reckon he's improved more as a FF than Carlos has as a FB since then....

I say Byrnes. Stop his run and his sneaky goals.

Army to Mr Byrnes

Carrots more likely to play on Chappy.

Perfect matchup.

Chapman, Bartel and Ablett are three that destroy teams on the scoreboard from the midfield, AJ to Ablett is a given, Carrots vs Bartel and Chapman? I'd take a gamble and play Lucas on Chapman, if that fails then Gibbs.

The combination of Scotland/McLean vs Selwood will be great to see, can Ling keep up with Judd? Enright should take Betts, Milburn on Yarran? Yarran should burn him if we deliver to his advantage, Garlett to expose Hunt's lack of pace? Mackie or Taylor will play the loose role so we need to make them accountable, whether Hoops plays forward again?

I think we can win as our midfield can match Geelong in ball winning ability, it's all to do with mentalilty, will we have the intensity? can we limit the turnovers? Will we win? well I'm tipping Geelong by a small margin of say 20pts simply based on our poorer skills under pressure.
