I've said it before about how lucky we are to have these 4 ruckmen.
We need 4 because all of them barring Kreuzer have been struck down by injury in the last 25 rounds.

Ger fairdinkum, they are going to need time to peak; the whole 4 for them.
Like most good players, but especially rucks, they really do get going when they have 100 games under their belt.

Warnock, Hampson and Kreuzer still need 3 years of upper body and core strength conditioning.
Jacobs needs to keep improving his pace and kicking for goal.
Hampson and Warnock will hold onto the pill when they get stronger.

Even though they are young ruckmen they have all proven to have the ability to take to the ruck role at AFL level.
I want to keep the 4 of them, because in 3 years time (2013) I can see :

Ruck: Warnock Jacobs
CHF/ Wing: Kreuzer
CHB/ FP / Wing: Hampson

Yeah right :screwy:
Just dreaming like I did when we had Aisake and Angwin. The character of our current crop is unquestionable. All class.

They will all be unbeatable after 2013 and that's why I don't want to see them playing against each other.
We've got to have ways to combat the future, which is made up of upcoming Nik Nat type freaks, and we have the cream of the crop.

Sandilands will be gone by then. King, Gardiner, Ottens, Jolly, Brogan, Charman, Hudson, Hille...those very mature bodied ruckmen will all be gone after 2013.

We are sitting pretty with the 4 of them.
2 with elite mobility and the other 2 are mobile enough to compete with their physical advatages.
I know the opposition are sniffing around. Especially with GC17, GWS and those lacking ruck quality.
All have currency. Even more if we win the flag this year.

I hope we get to keep them. Enough about losing them. Don't even think about it.

Warnock's body shape is more or less set in stone not going to change all that much at all thats no problem..timing of his marks, positioning around the ground, decisions, compsoure, concentration & anticipation but how much???..his mental attributes is the only thing that will improve. He's had stress fractures in his foot which means his upper body strength has got plenty of conditioning time.

Ahh... yes it can. I'd argue this further, but it's not just obvious, it's scientific fact.

Again, no they won't.

And where does all that extra weight go when he presses his foot down (even in a moon boot)? There's only so much he could have done.

I thought we were comparing the development of Dean Cox with the development of Warnock?? Where have you wandered off to?

Jimmae I am sure you can put more effort in your one liners. Otherwise it's quite f-eckless really. Please don't waste my time expecting a response with unavailing replies.

:thanks:

I think you should cut Jim some slack. Based on most of your posts he really is up against it trying to explain anything to you.

Is that supposed to be a smart arse response or are you trying to pick an arguement with anyone that doesnt agree with you?... because if you are - look else where. Discussing how Warboy upside is limited at 23y.o
I was asking for input.. I have no idea what he is on about, surely Jimbo has the capacity to back up his claims..whatever they may be.. that's all. I have been in the sporting field for years and let me tell you Jimbob...physical attributes are more or less set in stone at a young age then comes the technical then the mental comes last. Whether you agree or not... is none of my concern :)

How on earth have you come to these conclusions???

I can safely say that in the next 5 years Warnock's body will change significantly, he is only 23, he will fill out considerably.

How you can say that his understanding of the game and his approach to it will stay the same from here on in is....well.....just about the silliest thing I've read.....Warnock must suffer some terrible mental problems that make learning impossible!

The point others are making is that you can do all the gym work you like but until a player spends time out on the ground, it is all just theory, putting it into practice in a real AFL game takes time and Warnock just hasnt had the time yet.

Will he be better than Dean Cox? Maybe not, but at present he is behind by 65 games in the comparison to 2005.

Okay lets discuss Warnocks upside.

So you don't think that from 23yrs to 28yrs the physical cababilites of a players strength, aerobic capacity, recovery and conditioning will improve with training. How is that not possible.

What sporting field have you actually been in to have those sort of beliefs?

Doesnt matter how I came to these conclusions not up for public forum discussion.. but Warnock's upside at 23y.o is limited.. he will improve the mental side of his game as all players do as they mature [fevola being the rare case - actually his onfield maturity and psitiong actually did get superiorly better - his body structure barely changes at all] I have no doubt about it... Whether this will propel him to be an effective ruckman or not will be extremely interesting to see his techncial attributes will only improve slightly at his age..

Physical capabilities - not sure what you mean if you mean by his attributes in terms of Agility, Balance, Jumping, Natural Fitness, Stamina & Strength it won't change much at all at 23y.o maybe 10% in his strength and stamina and 5% everything else..

Majority of aerobic capacity and strength conditioning is done durinng the off season then peters out as the season progresses...it doesnt stay constant. You need to work bloody hard to keep "peak condition".

The sporting field that is worth much more than 50 AFL's combined.

Pretty hard to expect him do be dominating, not only given his lack of experience, but for the fact he missed the entire year last year. He's only four games into his comeback and is yet to play any significant number of games. Plenty of time for an upside to emerge.

Yes I am not disputing he has upside,

But was he worth what we paid for him? I think absolutely not as he doesnt have the required technical attributes.

His physical side is fine never was an issue... techncially very average thus far - as he improves mentally [onfield maturity] and thats all the upside that will be left in him... Will his onfield maturity make him a good player? $1 million question.. and thats where it's at...

No offence intended....but making such claims without experience in this area is making you look silly.

If you were at all trained and/or qualified in the conditioning of elite athlete's ppl here would listen with more respect, but from your comments it's obvious ur training is in other areas.

You need to re read what I said - his physical attributes wont change that much at his age only his mental and technical will.

His body shape is set in stone and wont change only his strength and stamina will improve slightly at 23y.o.. I have no issue with his body.

Whether you agree or not is no concern of mine.

You just need to learn how to comprehend before you go off sluring.
