It's the standard Captain-bloody-obvious article, with the standard bag-Carlton-at-all-costs attitude.

She neglects to mention that we got rid of him! Geelong and Richmond do things properly but we don't.......

Actually, she's right.

Interestingly, over the last 6-8 years, there have been those Carlton supporters who have felt the Club didn't come down hard enough on Fevola, and the apologists who kept saying that his antics weren't an issue and to get over it. The apologists were in full force right up the the bitter Crown Casino end.

It is now blatantly clear that the Club didn't act strongly enough, both for the Club's sake, and Fevola's. Don't have a go at Wilson for telling it how it is (although you can definitely have a go at her for not writing a lead article on how Richmond has been covering up for Cousins, instead burying a an aside reference to it in the middle of the Fevola article).

She's off her tree.. Fevola was almost sacked under Brittain then he woke up and kept quiet for 2-3 years then when he rocketed into superstar status he lost the plot. What a brilliant footballer though.

Fails to mention that Connors was WARNED 8 times for his drinking whilst Wallace was coach, spoke on the radio about it the other day. But it doesn't really suit her modus operandi does it.

We were inept in a lot of areas, quite obviously, including managing Fevola.

But that was last decade, let's move on.

Yeah, she's right.

But it's a story that's so old, it's got cobwebs on it. Would like to see some stuff with real insight to it. Maybe a little news-worthiness too. Any football fan could've written that, so not sure what value Caro is adding.

She has just been on 3aw saying the same thing. Not only was she referring to Fev but had another go at he club for only supsending Walker, Betts and Houlihan for NAB matches and not the real season.
she is probably right to an extent with what she said about Fev but let it go.
Still no comment from her that Troy Taylor is up on serious assault charges from an incident while he was on parole. what penalty has Richmond handed out, oh thats right he got elevated from the rookie list and is playing today.

Nobody has been hard enough on Fevola, and post Carlton the Lions and the AFL still haven't been hard on Fevola. IMO the Fevola we're seeing now is 'honeymon Fev', he's still a ticking time bomb.

Funny you should use those words as Wayne Brittan on SEN yesterday used them too. He said that if he was still at Brisbane that he would not have recommended that they get Fev. He reckons things will be good this year during the honeymoon period, but its not until years 2 and 3 that you'll see Fev's true colours again.

When your 29 and at the end of your career, you do have to mature at some stage. I think he would of changed similar to how he responded in Brisbane, even if we didnt trade him at the last minute. I think it finally hit him after brownlow/trade week, that its nearly over for him in the AFL and whats he got to show for it

Yep. How many times did Fev turn over a new leaf at Carlton? He's had patches of good behaviour and team-oriented play but his leaves get old every few months.

Let the football do the talking. Brisbane may have won 4 games, but game plan will not win a flag. They simply rely on too few up forward. Cut the supply and it will get ugly for them. Had Judd been playing we would have beaten them.

Brendan Fevola is a Brisbane Lions player and Caro supports a club that is always in crisis. Let's not give either the attention they crave.

I agree with 99prelim... he doesn't play for us anymore so it's not our problem.

I s'pose we should blame Melbourne how crap for Sean Charles was...

and Geelong have for answer to O'Reilly and Mansfield.

Where does it end?

A lot of people are saying she is right so when should he have been hit with a suspension or booted from the Club? After letting off the fire extinguisher?, at the dry cleaners when he was a bit drunk. he was with the AFL in Ireland when he clocked that Barman so how is that the Clubs fault? Where is his Manager in all of this and his responsibility?

Its all very well with hindsight to say what we should have done but at the time when the Club was on its knees and had very little to look forward to on a week to week basis and with a shite list things arent always so black and white.

And the Club did act decisively with him once he went too far.
