A good win - but the play needs to be a lot better to beat Geelong and St Kilda.

2 and 2 is better than I thought - but this is the way that I prefer to be wrong.

Many more 8 goal wins and I won't be able to see at all from all the celebrating I'll have done.

Just got home from the game. Can't wait to get to work on Monday. This mob over here think their proverbial doesn't stink.

Never have I seen such a quiet crowd at AAMI

We ran hard and made space. We kept things open in the forward line which allowed Betts, Yarran, Garlett to attack the ball.

We owned the corridor for most of the game.

Very happy with our tackling and pressure, caused turnovers and forced them wide into the forward line. Hence taking shots from tight angles. Got a bit worried early in the last when we didn't run out of defence as hard. But we got things going and finished off with the last 4 goals - a good sign.

Let's hope Port give Geelong a tough game tomorrow.

Great stuff Blues. Well coached Ratts

I notice only two pages of aftermatch discussion. Usually after a loss it's nearing 10 pages by this time

Fantastic game. Got a little worried when the Crows kicked three goals in a row, but great to see the boys responded and put them away.

And I thought the shy was falling after last week...lol!

The way I see it we played finals last year after 13 wins and have only played one bad game this year. Yep, we are in trouble and Ratten was a disaster as a coach...lol!. Ratten has coached well 3 weeks from 4 and on the 4th occasion it was probably the players not following instructions anyway.

I didn't see the game. How was our ball movement out of the backline with Thornton out of the equation?

Number of forward entries and shots by Adelaide were still a concern (i.e. too many for my liking). They had more scoring shots then us.

Unlike the Carlton teams of a few years back - These are young players that have the potential for great things.

And they will achieve great things in time

But subject to the quality of coaching that they receive - their rate of learning and improvement and their response to adversity is something that is very much in their own hands.

But they will have to improve significantly if they are to defeat either or both of Geelong or St Kilda.

Whats more important?

The quality of coaching?

Or the war starting?

you beauty!!!!!!!!!!
-lucas; can see why we drafted him, awesome.
-white; cracking first game, good user of the ball and great at spoiling.
-russell; getting better every week.
-henderson; rapt, gives us a target, team player, and he is only 20 with about 20 games to he's name, wait until he's played 70-80 games.
-yarran; gee whiz, loving it.
-judd; man love, sorry.
-jamison; the old saying, getting better with age.

we are not running short of defenders, jamison, bower, austin, white, waite and thornton.
still can't believe how well lucas and white played.

over the moon,
you can only beat who you play!!

Of course I enjoyed the win but I think everyone is getting carried away because of the contrast with last week's pathetic effort against Essendon*. We may have won by 8 goals but we were not an 8 goal better team on the day. A better test will be next week.

And thanks for the sledge about going off like a catherine wheel when we lose. It makes me feel like a real footballer.
