Would rather Walker and Houlihan be dropped.

Thornton should have been tried as a forward this game.

Good luck to White!

Blues need to pressurise early and we`ll win. Dont let Crows get a sniff. Keeping their confidence down early is the key.

I hope if we win the toss we kick with the breeze first this time, not into it

I was also critical when I first saw the lineup. But thinking about it Ratts has at least brought youth and pace into the side. Every player in the team can run with the exception of Jamison.

I include Henderson and Setanta because they may not be fast but cover a lot of ground.

Waite and Thornton are two of our worst kicks so it must help our disposal efficiency as well.

Warnock I reckon is the only liability. Absolutely no reason for him not to be dropped when we have Jacobs waiting..

Spot on. Your not being close to the team has nothing to do with your opinions being wrong!

I have no problem with the selections Thornton is not a team player he only plays for himself always has .
As for Waite he needs some confidence so let him kick arse in the magoos .We maynot win but I hope we go down fighting till the end.If we get walloped I will be ropeable

I was shocked when I heard the changes but the inner sanctum at the club must have their reasons. The one good thing is that the side picked has genuine pace all over the ground which is crucial at AAMI Stadium. If the right attitude is brought to the game I think we can win and win well. My only concern is that our record against Adelaide in recent years has been abysmal.
The injection of pace into the side hopefully will break down that zoning game that Adelaide likes to play with.

Ratten teeters from one bad coaching decision to the next. He has never learned how to tackle the bummers and I doubt he learned anything about how to tackle the crows

they will maul us! :yikes:

While I'm kind of okay with the team selection this week you do raise a very good point in that the game in the coaches box this weekend will be as important as the on-field battle. Ratten needs to find a way to beat our recent bogey sides. It's one thing to drop players for not following the team plan, and more power to the coach for that, but I'm pretty sure Ratten's instructions from the board are to coach his team to win games of football.

As much of a masochistic wish as it may be I am really looking forward to this game. The beauty of football, haha. It sucks you in every week.

GO BLUES!!!

In this day and age you also need players off half back that are good kicks. A backline that contains Joseph, Armfield, Jamieson, Russell & Walker will struggle to hit the side of a barn. Thornton has had the best kicking efficiency for the side over the last 2 years.

I am happy to be proven wrong and will watch the game with much anticipation on Saturday.

It is particularly easy to have a high efficiency when you are never trying to 'push' your kicks and actually start an attacking move. Almost everyone on this board would have a 90% efficiency if all they did was kick it 25m sideways to a bloke standing on his own.

Great moves from the MC. Would have like to see Chief and Haddles in but I'll bow to their better judgment.

Who would have guessed the ommissions? Not me.

Glad to see the Yarran-Betts-Garlett combo forwardline (1st round draftee, 1st round rookie, first round PSD selection).
I'm expecting to see some Black Magic. I'm sure they will be thrilled to play together. Yazza was looking forward to this day.

Glad to see the Juddstar back. Looks like without Hadley and McLean that Judd will be required to continue in 2010 winning his own ball and play as the battering ram. Mmmmmmmmmmmm not a good idea.

Tippett and Dangerfield looked right at training in the snippet I saw on the box. Damn.

Gotta stop Tippett from kicking a bag, and that starts with the midfield winning their duel and lending support defensively.
But who is going to man Tippett? Our KP defenders seem too short for the big ruckman-forward.
Hang on, isn't it always their big ruck sized forward that do the damage to us?

Looks like we have selected a fast team.
Adelaide are our bogey team, albeit outa form atm. We could pinch this. History says we wont.

Very keen to see how the players respond, and interested to see if we improve the efficiency, the turnovers and the commitment required to win the clearances and to stop them carving us up.

Didn't pencil this game as a win for us at the start of the season, and still can't believe they haven't won a game this year.
Because they are playing for their first win, and they are confident going against us, I am expecting a Crows victory at their home ground.

I hope we win by a goal or two. One point victory would also be good enough.

Fingers crossed.

Dangerfield is a 70/30 chance as is Tippett. Tippett has done flower this season, and with the human blanket Jamo on him can't see that changing.

I've posted previously, but the Crows win games from the HBF. Goodwin and Fat Boy Johncock, are the keys. Shut them down and we'll win.

Doughty will probably get Judd. Juddy never plays well against Adelaide, however he has usually had Shirley hanging off him, so that's a bonus.

Adelaide's rucks are shit. Kreuzer should smash Maric, and with Warnock, run him off the ground. They need to use Tippett in ruck to relieve him. When Tippett is in Ruck, FFS put Kreuzer up forward and really stretch the Crows defence. Vice versa for when Maric goes in. Put Warnock up forward and stretch them.
With Yazza & Garto buzzing around that looks good to me !

It's going to be a typically bottler of a Adelaide day, 27 fine and sunny, so conditions will suit the talls.

Need to plonk Setanta in the goal square, and from there, he must lead hard and work up the ground. Rutten is as slow as a truck, and struggles on the athletic forward. Run him all day from goalsquare to the wing, and he'll fade. Bock is a great out, as it means Hendo will probably get Davis who is a kid also. Hendo has to work hard and run him off the ground too. Big step from SANFL to AFL.

Will be a typically HUGE Carlton contingent, and the Baggers over here (plus the travelling Mexicans) always make a hell of a lot of noise.

Get the first couple, shut down the HBF, and it's game over !

Carlton by 82 points

Love your enthusiasm sjabc, I wish there would be a lot more of it shown around here, but I don't think we should be underestimating their forwards. Up until last week Mark Williams (Essendon* player) had done bugger all and he came out and kicked 4 important goals. It could very well be the same story with Tippett this week.

Williams isn't used in ruck though !

Kreuzer must SMASH Maric, and force the Crows into using Tippet at the Centre. They only have the one dedicated ruckman, so no excuses for not running Maric off his feet.

If Maric is off his feet then Tippett becomes, their ruckman, and frees up Jamo to take Walker / Burton etc which then frees up a Walker / White to push up ground....

All i can say is that im very thankful i laid my insurance bet on Adelaide early in the week when they were paying $1.95 to beat us ( silly odds considering we havent beaten them in ages )... Im very excited to see how the Bats go ( Yarran, Betts and Gartlett )
Good luck Simon White

Crows by 37 pts
Tippett to go bananas and kick 7

Maybe Ratts could settle Waite in a position FFS! Has he been dropped because he can't play FF and CHB at the same time? His best footy was at CHB last year so @#$%&! leave him there, Thornton incidently played his best next to him.

Hollywood, you could still get $6.25 for Crows over 40pts  . I'd say that's money in tha bank the way our team looks  .
