If the back line needs height, you could always drop hendo or sants there to cover otherwise there's a lot of run from the back.

edit: Forgot to add, Congratulations to White. Hope you have a blinder... so we can sing "Blinded by the White".

Andrew Walker is 190cm with a good leap. Taylor Walker his likely opponent is 192cm. Aside from Tippet who Jamo will probably get the rest of their forwardline this week is sub 188cm.

Their line-up is so obviously short. Watch for the late changes. Having said Walker should line up on Burton; White should take their Walker.

I just want to see him forward where he will do more damage. We should have retained Thornton or brought in Davies.

Guys...basic understanding of footy clubs required. If they were asked to adhere to designated game day team rules and failed to carry out those instructions from the coaching staff throughout the game, then it justifies their omission. No one is being made a scapegoat. As senior players - Waite and Thornton would have recognised they put in below par performances. They wouldn't have been my choices to be dropped, but it does show you how far removed the supporter is from the happenings of selection (and always has been). For some reason there seems to be an unhealthy perception that paid up membership and participation on a Carlton related forum provides one with more than an opinion on team selection.

As an aside - very excited about seeing Simon White in the navy blue. A little concerned about his peripheral vision shortcomings but excited nonetheless!

+1. Saved me 20 minutes

Spot on as usual Doc.

I agree with what most are saying that we are not close enough to selection to understand the reasons, but surely Waite is a better bet standing in the goal square than Irish? I mean if it's team balance who would you prefer at Full Forward?

Just a general question!!!!

How will people feel after this game? In theory we should beat a side that couldn't even beat Melbourne. So if we do, have we stepped up?

If we lose, will it be because Adelaide were due to win, or we never beat Adelaide? Or was it our selections?

One way or another I will be very interested in people's reactions come 5.00pm Saturday! :yikes:

for me, a win changes nothing.

its rd 4. something people seem to forget. ratten will be judged at the second half of the season, when he has been given the chance to develop the forward line, and change the way we go about things.

seriously, i just dont understand all the angst about it all.

we beat richmond, lost to the lions at the gabba with j.Brown being superb and kicking 3.10, and we lost to the buumers by 20 points after playing probably our worst game of football in years.

its hardly the end of the world stuff.

we win this week, we are 2/2 .... and for all the complaining in the world, if you offered that to me at the start of the season (without judd for the first three weeks, and learning to live with life after fev) there isnt a single supporter on this forum, that wouldnt have taken it.

i honestly struggle to understand the reaction. yes its the bombers, yes it flower sucks, but people have lost their minds over a 20 point loss!! i just dont get it.

On paper our backline is the worst I have seen in years.

B: Simon White, Michael Jamison, Aaron Joseph
HB: Dennis Armfield, Andrew Walker, Jordan Russell

Only one tall.

Simon White - listed at 190 & 88 kgs, would actually be more like 192 & 93.

Didn't the Ants play a practice game against a local outfit?

Week before last? Yes. Played round 1 of the VFL last weekend and controlled the match against the Bombers' outfit.

Well said, can i also add that just because we aren't close to the team does not mean that our opinions are wrong

With Dangerfield and Tippett both named (fingers crossed at least one doesnt play), God help us. I agree with others that this is the weakest and shortest Carlton backline named in living memory.

I thought Waite looked OK when he moved back last week (yes he was crap up forward) and should have been retained. Please give up on playing him forward Ratts, he is an elite floating half back. As for Thornton, well clearly he is in Carlton's best 22, and has been dropped for disciplinary reasons.

If we cant beat Adelaide this week we will never beat them. I am not optimistic.

Great to see Garlett in the side with Betts and Yarran.

And welcome back Juddy

Good to see the outs but still very lenient to a couple more underperformers.

Please prove me wrong... please please please...... Adelaide by 50 pts.

I will never throw my membership away ever - but stop the rot of mediocrity NOW.

Thornton deserves the chop... wake up to yourself mate. Are you good enough??? Prove it.

Gibbs count your lucky stars gunning towards four straight with mediocre output... fine young player but either needs a rest or a kick up the ass.

Glad Houla and Carrots havent been dropped... the former has put in one bad one in three weeks and Carrots two bad ones my guess its his last chance.

Walker CHB - laughable but could prove a master stroke and I am hoping that is the case.

What about walker? He was shocking!
Or Russell? Something like 8 turnovers for the night? Or warnock for just being crap????

Russell 87% disposal efficiency (All 3 games over 83%). Yes he made two mistakes that led to goals, but of the 3 clangers he has recorded against his name 2 were free kicks against.

Walker 47% disposal efficiency, 4 clangers and 0 free kicks against.

You still want to drop Russell? Who are you choosing to take his position?

Hard to argue with that Rafa. And we've all been praising JR for his evolution haven't we ? He's got a few credits in the bank, unlike others.

Would have liked to see Hadds (at the expense of Hoops) come in to dish it out to Juddy and Murph. If 206 doesn't show something this week, surely Sauce gets a gig next week ?

Good chance for Thornton to play full forward in the Bullants.

all i know is we better destroy them in the middle because if the ball goes into their forward line fast and direct we wont be able to hold burton, tippet and the porpa all day

I would have liked one of either Waite/Thornton kept in the side to play in defence however maybe our MC don't expect Tippett or Dangerfield to come up.

Good luck to White.

With Garlett coming in maybe Ratts will try Yazz on the HBF.
