So who's going to protect Judd at the stoppages in this line up? Garlett? It's not like Adelaide have bigger bodies that would be loving smashing Judd to pieces on his return.

Weird stuff considering what happened to us last time we were over there. Sounds like the babies made the trip with the bathwater.

Dont you remember BlueDave, no forwards.. noone in our half of the ground from memory in the first half... I think Ratten apologised after the game.

Ah yes, it was a master stroke. I guess he's mixing it up now...no backline.

Seriously, as always, I'm prepared to live with whatever happens on Thursday night when teams are announced. Gotta keep the faith. I just hope we can deliver a commiited performance on Saturday and win the bloody thing.

Team instructions last week were to use the corridor

IIRC Thorton kicked to boundary all night. I fear that we have seen the best of Bret Thorton - I doubt that it will get any better.

But the confusing thing to me is that we have dropped a wingman, a midfielder and a half back to improve our forward
structure. :screwy:

Ah, Ratts, Ratts, Ratts...

If you wanted to make a statement you should have dropped Carrazzo. He was less than useless last week. Robinson, too. He brought plenty of intensity, but little else.

I sat at the gate and actually thought Robbo wasn't that bad, he certainly tried to move the ball fwd which is not what I can say for Mr Chip-it-Sideways-at-every-Opportunity Thornton

No one is being made a scapegoat. As senior players - Waite and Thornton would have recognised they put in below par performances. They wouldn't have been my choices to be dropped, but it does show you how far removed the supporter is from the happenings of selection (and always has been). For some reason there seems to be an unhealthy perception that paid up membership and participation on a Carlton related forum provides one with more than an opinion on team selection.

As an aside - very excited about seeing Simon White in the navy blue. A little concerned about his peripheral vision shortcomings but excited nonetheless!

Waite has been in our worst 3 players on the ground against Brisbane and Essendon*.
Thornton got smashed by Brown and I can cop that but he cost us 3 goals in that game when he had the ball and butchered it under no pressure.
Against the Bombers Walker and Jamo took the key forwards so he should have been a driving force in the backline. He was just a player against the Bombers and the final straw would have been when he kicked that ball out on the full instead of copping the hit and being pushed over the line.
Eddie start kicking goals and not points otherwise you will be next, 33% conversion is not good enough.

Spot on

Thornton gives us very little these days

Isn't in our top 2 key defenders, as outside of pure stopping work he lacks energy and purpose as a re-bounder. He ALWAYS waltzes slowly when he gets the ball, never seems to be in a hurry to take us fwd like Bower

Hampson is injured.

Yet we have people bleating about selection and recruiting.

Can't believe Hadley isn't in.

Walker must have photos of someone.

Strange that Hadley isn't in the team for that very reason. The one thing you don't want is Judd at the bottom of the packs.

And Warnock? By all reports Jacobs is killing em in the VFL. Why not give him a go?

Let's just hope Ratts has outthought us all.

Why? I believe he has shown some signs the past few weeks and for the good of his career he needs to be able to settle in one spot. I actually like him in the role.

He is decent, but as a key defender he is generally undersized, and good teams will exploit that. I'd prefer him up forward, where he is a match-up nightmare, or in midfield where he can be a marking target as well as provide run.

Houla better lift his contested work on last week's showing. Murphy, Gibbs & Carrazzo too.

Old man, you are almost right.

Ratten is the only one who wants Judd at the bottom of the packs. He is also planning to have him at the top of the packs, receiving his own handballs on the outside of the packs, kicking a bag from half forward and kicking another bag when resting deep.

Then he can look into the camera at the after match press conference with one of his dazed looks, recite a few cliches, tell us that if you dont do things the carlton way you wont play for carlton and generally pretend that he has a clue on tactics or discipline.

Great player though!

So you agree with White's inclusion

I reckon Waite is a bit stiff
Houlihan I hope isnt a protective species this year
Warnock should have been dropped. Has played like a giraffe on heroin and jacobs has played well and has been our best peformed ruckman after kreuzer this year. Very poor decision by our mc.
