IMO he would be fantastic IF he was driven and excited to get back into it.

There is no better person to go into a club and change its fortunes around. He will not put up with any sh1t and believe when I say everyone will fall into line and he will put out a 'committed' group each week. He will also surround himself with the right people!

Simply, if he wants to do it, get him!

jimmae as usual is right. They all have their use by date. Pagan, Matthews, Sheedy, even Barassi.

I still say use the Pratt ethos, don't get the best available, get the best. If it means pinching an Eade for example, do it. Show a bit of the old Carlton skullduggery.

As for the Pratt ethos I totally agree. Make Swann earn his money and go and get either Roos or Thompson!

Err Psych, like your posts but wasn't thinking of age. Look at where the Lions were at in Matthews last year and where they finished in Voss's first year. Voss had no previous senior coaching experience etc. He simply knows what he is doing in modern day AFL level.

Do we take on Matthews as we did with Pagan and chance a similar result?

I said half jokingly in another post to bring back Wayne Brittain. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Isn't he the backroom boy for Voss? And he certainly did no worse than Pagan with a list that was no better. He now has the experience of working with the Lions in a premiership or at least a former premiership environment. And if he still has the fire in his gut that he had with his parting speech after he was fired, he should be spoken to. At the very least as match day tactician as he was under Parkin.

In response to the original question ( I can't be flower going through the whole post, it will probably make me angry anyway).
No we shouldn't. We sound like a bunch of Richmond supporters.
When will the players start picking up their performances and play a consistently good game of football, instead of a consistently SHIT game!?
Why is it that the coach gets the blame for the players getting out on the field, being paid a flower load of money and playing under 18s styled football???
The only thing I will say is that Ratts needs to drop a hell of a lot of guys, until they are ready to play some football!!!!???
Ratts has taken us a long way from where we were when he took over from Pagan... and with the shit that was left for him... he has done a bloody good job.
On ya Ratts!

Oh and please insight me in to how Matthews would have got us over the line against the scum, with the way the PLAYERS were playing Saturday night? Please I would love to know.
