Would have thought he and Jamo would be first picked down back.
I think Bower was BOG for us against the swines

Yep. I think Aussie has a heap more upside. Better footy brain, better skill, better athleticism and better versatility. Just needs to get fit and stay on the park.

I really think Austin can play. But we have a lot of talls and there's no obvious spot for him unless he really tears it up, which is hard when you've missed a fair chuck of pre-season.

He's exactly the type of player, along with Grigg Jacobs and even Hampson who might look elsewhere if opportunities are limited.

I hope he comes on this year for our sake - I think he's a real football talent

Warnock Judd Murphy

Robinson Henderson Betts
Yarran Setanta Kruezer

McLean Garlett Joseph
Armfield

At our best, I reckon the starting 18 will come from amongst those names... I'm not convinced that Kreuzer is going to win us games as a forward, but he has to be out there somewhere. You could probably sit Warnock and throw Joseph out there if the tag is on early.

The best of the blokes that aren't named are:

Houlihan
Hampson
Carrazzo
Hadley
Lucas
Austin

Any one of those should get a game at some point. The rest of the names would rely on injury, suspension and death.

You're rubbishing Jamison, and putting Robinson in the back pocket? You don't feel as though you're being a bit over the top?

only has 17 on the field too unless we are counting the conjoined mclean/hadley twins as 2 players

I keep saying it, but when fit and ready to go I'd play Austin up forward for a couple weeks.

I'd let him know that's his position for that 3 or 4 week block and he should feel comfortable and relaxed in knowing the job we want him to do every week will be contest, lead, mark and hopefully kick a few goals.

agree on your squad but not sure yaz is fit enough to play that role on hb yet.

im hoping someone steps up (grigg hopefully) to pressure carrazzo out of the best 22. he's a little like thornton to me in that he has a tendency to slow things down and go sideways more often than not.

Understand your point and agree in part. My thinking is two fold.

One: We need more creative and better users of the ball coming from defence. Yarran is an elite user of the ball, has real pace and if he could get his hands on it more often he will carve sides up. Personally, I would like see him play both positions during a game!

Two: The question mark on Yarran at the moment is his ability to play four quarters. This will keep him in the game more often, give him a focus and help him improve his fitness and gut running capabilities. The issue is that learning the game as a small forward sometimes can lead to laziness and bad habits.

As for Grigg, I hope he can 'force' his way back in. Nice to have a few more left footers and he is hard. His kicking is the issue and the moment!

Interesting how Joseph is not the flavour for 2010.

So you think White is in our best 22 after 1 game. I've seen Waite and Thornton have better games than the game White had on the weekend. Don't get me wrong DB, I thought White did OK, but if Burton had of kicked straight and White had 4 against him, I wonder how he would be rated.

AJ needs to get more of the ball, its the next step for him. I think some bullies games where he is told just go and get the ball son might be good for him.

White's first game was good, I think he can get better, of course, I may be wrong.

Reckon ur right DB...he has had enough run with roles in his short career....getting him in amongst the action will help him take the next step...there is no doubt he has the talent and tenacity to relish a midfield role in the future...

I have always been a carrots fan, but if his disposal does not improve it's game over. At this point I can't see him in our best 22 going forward.

You should have seen how long it took before his team mates sighted him leading to the ball. There was one bit where Russell spotted him up and it wasn't 15; he'd been leading for a good 10 seconds and 50 metres along HB before Russell even reacted.

Forced to play on, he skewed a kick into space instead of the target. That's the crap Carrazzo gets some times (although typically not from Russell).
