Pick the odd one out.........

Tableland
Becel
Miracle
Flora
Golden Canola
Logicol
Olive Grove
Vita Lite
Country Gold
Mainland
Western Star
Carlton Football Club 10/4/2010.

Nope..... THEY ARE ALL EXACTLY THE SAME !!!!!!!!!

Honestly, that was as insipid as you would ever want to see.
Makes you a bit sad for all the blokes who have bled blood, had bones
broken, faces opened up, bodies bruised for that navy blue jumper
for many many years.
Blokes who had the skill levels of VAFA, like Franchina, Bortolotto, Hulme,
Barry Gill etc and the like, but by beejeesus they had a red hot go for that jumper.
Not many did tonight. You could count them on one hand.
Think the other hand would have been busy rubbing Knights' tummy !!

I only want the whole club to put that garbage served up tonight behind us.
Why can that be our line in the sand game for the whole club ?
Players, Coaches, Assistants, Bootstudders, car park attendants, the bloody lot.

I just want to see 22 blokes run out next week with pride in that CFC on their jumper.

Oh and PS...... Ratts if you make just 2 changes, im gunna spew up !!!!

To be fair on McLean to those mentioning him, he copped a pretty bad knock in the first half. Also, Thornton, Henderson, Yarran & Robinson all ran the game out with corkies and other various knocks, and there's footage of Joseph having a serious spew at some point in the game.

That's no excuse for the sheer number of fumbles and shoddy kicks, however. That came down to composure.

but thats not good enough ratts.

YOU NEED TO GET @#$%&! ANGRY

i'd be looking to drop some senior players and mack a statement.

out: Scotland, Houlihan, Thorton, Mclean (rested)
In: Davies/Hadley, Garlett, White, Judd

shake these clowns up a bit.

we were beaten by a bunch of free wheeling softcocks because they wanted it more!

even if we won i still would have been concerned about that effort.

I can't recall a single cohesive, flowing bit of play from Carlton tonight. We started poorly and I thought that we wouldn't continue like that all day. They proved me wrong on that front. That would have to be one of the worst games of football that I've seen -- and I've watched every game during the black days in the 00s.

We couldn't take a contested mark on the wing, in general play, or - god help us - up forward to save our lives. We couldn't stick tackles and they seemed to own the corridor space. I @#$%&! hate losing to these bunch of hacks, coached by the soft drop-off-the-back-of-the-pack albino Richmond cauliflower. The boys just couldn't get into the game and I'm wondering whether it is an aberration or whether it is systemic of a larger problem at the CFC.

You know what the worst thing is though? I switched off to the disappointment during the last term. I've seen SO MUCH of this mediocrity through consecutive wooden spoons, and games where we simply didn't have the talent or the people in place to achieve better.

NOW we come up against these @#$%&! Essendon* hacks, who have beaten us for the previous 5 times with their kamikaze run-through-the-corridor game, and we fall into their hands for the sixth time straight without having changed it up AT ALL.

All this with a list of players who we (mostly) acknowledge to have the capabilities to grow and strengthen into a Premiership capable side.

RATTS, YOU HAVE TO START SHOWING THE CFC FAITHFUL THAT YOU ARE MORE THAN A FAVOURITE SON. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but that Essendon* side that was pitted against us was INSIPID and to lose to those flowers was GALLING and GUTTING and as proud Carlton Football Club supporters, this has to be amongst the lowest ebbs that I've felt in recent years.

@#$%&!!!

This is exactly how I'd have reacted at 3/4 time and full time.

He actually makes some very good comments, too. About respecting the shirt and putting in effort etc.

Fumble fingers.

That's the second match in a row lost largely due to our inability to take possession cleanly. Hard-earned clearances and quick hands through the contest are worthless if the players are too uncoordinated and dim-witted to catch the ball.

Such a kick in the guts losing to those smarmy arseholes.

Disagree also.

Ratten should have this team firing mentally next week against Adelaide, it's the same situation we had last night, a bogey team where our game plan hasn't worked against in the past under Ratten.

I can see us playing the same style as the pre-season game and another loss as a result. If this proves to be correct then questions need to be asked about our Coach. It's all good winning against the bottom feeders when our draw gets easier, it's the big clubs that Ratts should be measured against and this next 6 weeks will decide whether Ratts has that ability and plan to take us to the top 4.

If we showed something consistently we could accept , we dont get the best out of our players, and that is the problem.

No toughness, no heart, no killer instinct.

Out -

Warnock, Mclean (rest), Houla

In -

Jacobs, Hadley, Judd

Bower?

We seriously have shit skills...................

We have recruited too many players with shit skills............

You watch every other teams players and you see the ball being moved along naturaly, too many of our players are athletes first.

We need to set up a program where every player has to have a football with him 24/7. They need to handle that ball as often as possible to build up the football saturation that is lacking.

Gibbs, Houlihan, Betts, Scotland, Simpson and Yarran are the only elite kicks we had playing last night...Jamo and Joseph are very good kicks, not elite, but reliable.

I actually think it's the slower our tempo the poorer our skills. 2010 the gameplan is slow tempo more often that not and our players are found out, that includes the pre-season results also.

Yep.
It was so bad I actually wondered if the boys had money on Bombers...and shame on me for thinking that..but shame on them for playing like that.
Who is going to inspire them?
Did they not watch the Saints/Woods game?
Perhaps they had the flu?
It's possible looking at AJ...
I love Waitey to death..but for me he was the biggest disappointment last nite.
I just don't get it.
Ratt's post game spiel just made me madder...I want him to lose it with 'em!!
Geez.
grrr.
We'd better come out swinging next week...

Well we know why we don't have a forward structure.

And given everyone's comments seem to be about intensity, enthusiasm, attack on the ball, we all know B.Fevola is a shining example in that regard isn't he, particularly when the midfield kicking is poor...

Good riddance - shows up the weaknesses in the rest of our list.

As sad as I am to say it I actually prefer watching Collingwood play than Carlton these days.

Malthouse seems to be able to put out a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. I love the guts and committment they put in each week. No superstars....just blokes who take pride in the black and white jumper.

We need a coach who the players respect and who they'll run through brick walls for. Collingwood players seem to have that for Mick - unsure about the Carlton lads with Ratten.

Lots of things p*ssed me off with last night - the lack of effort, the dumb football, the umpiring but the one thing that really got me was with a minute or so to go in the third qtr, with a bit of momentum going our way Scotland puts the ball in the air to signal to slow things WT bl**dy F !!!

Scotland? Almost our best player this year.
Rest McLean? After round 2? If he's injured, he's injured, if not, he doesn't get rested.

Drop all the butchers and softcocks.

Carrazzo, Houlihan, Gibbs is a good start.

We missed Fev again last night, especially his hardness around the forward line.

Jordan Russell has improved heaps as a footballer but other than Walker he is the last person we should have kicking in.

We don't have any "in your face" players. We don't have any mongrels in the team. Back in the 90's no one would go near Fraser Brown or Greg Williams and guys like Peter Dean would make life tough for you. That element has been missing since the start of this century. Yeah sure you need the skills to play the game (and boy are we lacking in some of those) but the 'team' thing just isn't there. Leadership again not evident since the spoon years.

It begs the question, are our players/MC to cocooned or protected from outside influence?

Just my opinion, but I reckon 99% of Carlton people (outside the football department) would've acknowledged just how important this game was and the level of intensity and mindset required, yet we get a display such as we did. It really beggars belief.
Ahh, to be a fly on the wall behind the scenes...
