Jim is a good Carlton man and I'm sure we all extend our sympathies to him and his family.

Sympathies yes...a tragedy whenever a small child dies, but (and i'm going to get lambasted for this), a part-time journos (who happens to barrack for Carlton) non-Carlton supporting son passes away...and the club are giving it the royal treatment. They hit trouble because they can't be consistent - would they do a write-up for Peter Daicos' boy (Carlton supporter) if he passes away?

I think a short term banning is needed for something as disrespectful as this, poor POOR form

Thoughts with the family

How about we just leave this thread to post condolences to the Wilson family, instead of jibes at each other?

The world sucks big time when this evil illness can take the life of anyone, let alone a young child.

I agree with Doc.

There are unacknowledged tragedies all over the world. I hope that my knowledge of these tragedies as being a part of life can help form my sense of self and the way I approach life and people.

I hate those "raise funds for such and such" that you get on today tonight and stuff.....what about the thousands of others who aren't so opportunistic? ....it almost disgusts me because it is only done in the name of entertainment ......it has no purity about it at all.

Anyway it's just my personal opinion of it all....

I don't think it's poor form from Dr....it's just that people don't have the capacity to understand it.

No parent should suffer the agony of outliving their child. This is horrible news. Best wishes to the Wilson family in a very trying time.

pretty ordinary post that one doc. Jim Wilson hosted a heck of a lot of carlton functions over the years and donated a lot of time to the club. It's not about who the boy barracked for. It's about expressing sympathies to man has had plenty to do with the club. Don't agree with your theory of 'you can't cover everyone so why do it for a few' and I think your criticism of the club is unwarranted.

+1 unconditional condolences to Jim and family

Not at all. As I stated - terrible thing to have to go through. Issue is with club's Comms department.

@#$%&! me.

Fair dinkum, some of you need to get a grip. It may not have been the right avenue to do it, but Doc is allowed to have an opinion on the matter and to be honest, I reckon he's spot on. But calling for him to be banned etc etc is just crap.

Condolences to the Wilson family.

Gee - no wonder people dont post like they used to.

Now for fear of getting shot down.

Fev despite his faults treated this young bloke like gold when the team ran out - my missus loved the fact that you could see fev stay back and pay his real attention. For all his faults you couldnt fault his heart.

As a father of four girls (3 of mine and 1 step and all mad Carlton supporters) I would be shattered should one get ill, let alone anything as bad as this. Im gratefull my kids are all healthy so far, anything our club can do to bring a smile to someones face should be appluaded as should anything that raises awareness to serious illness - regardless of who someone may support.

and others are allowed to disagree with his opinion.

Can you explain why he is spot on, or do you just feel like agreeing with him? Please tell us when the club can make an announcement like this?

Unfortunately, this thread has become extremely distasteful. Doc's thoughts & others supporting him should be put elsewhere. Jim Wilson obviously has much more on his mind right now, but how horrible it would be if he chose to peruse this thread one day to read condolence/thoughts/prayers etc. Yes everyone has a right to an opinion, but there's a time & place - & if some of you don't get that, thats sad. Do you have kids of your own Doc or PJ?
