i may only represent approximately 2% of the TC population, but i am extremely confident this week.

we are far superior in all areas... blues to romp home by 43 points. And not getting too far ahead of ourselves, with the slow starting crows the following week, and some kid named JUDD to come back in, 3-1 is very very realistic!

last point - lay off joey. has performed well enough to retain his spot vs the spastics.

I don't think there is a huge difference in ability between the side we'll field on Sat night (minus Judd of course and maybe Bower) and Essendon*'s team. Sure they were ordinary against the Dockers but no doubt they will be fired up for this one.

A committed 4 qtr effort should see us win.....anything less though and the Bombers will make it 6 in a row against us. Proven players like Ryder, Hille, McVeigh and Williams have come under heavy criticism and will no doubt be out to redeem themselves. Davey's skills are poor (not AFL standard) but in the past he has thrived on the space we've given him - ditto Dempsey and
Winderlich.

Fingers crossed Bower is OK to play - I'd like to see him sit on Monfries.

3 players to worry about:

Ryder . Clearly their best ruckman and dangerous up forward.

Monfries. He is in career best form and always kills us.. We must stop his leading space and play a hard tag on him.

Winderlich. He is super fast and has shown if he is allowed, he will run through our defense. A job for joseph.

Stop these guys from having good games and we go along way to winning. In the past Essendon* have beaten us with leg speed and forcing us into bad decisions. This year we need to hog the ball and be patient with how we move the ball forward as well as keeping our composure. Defense should be the priority as Essendon* love to run off their opponents and roll the dice. If they are denied space especially through the corridor they won't have that ability to run all over us..

This is the game that if we lose we get angry. Don't let it happen again boys.

We will win if we play with the same intensity we showed against the Lions.......anything less and I think we'll get pantsed yet again.

There's definitely a gap in quality between the two sides, just need to be able to shut down their run. The thing that killed us in previous fixtures was the excellent contested work of Lloyd & Lucas, and Fev's antics. They're all gone.

We let Essendon* in because they didn't have to be accountable in midfield or defence, now they have to be more accountable in both. I will grant that they have a formidable defensive unit, but we have them beaten head to head in most match-ups.

Interesting game to say the least. Lovett and Lucas always troubled us, and they're gone.....but Fev regularly kicked bags for us as they had no-one to stop him. Gadget man may just be too smart for Santy, and Ryder more than a match for Hendo ? Their pace has really worried us, and it will again unless we get hands on the ball first and dominate possession. We must maintain the intensity and not let them waltz through the corridor as they have the last few times.

Any team that cops crap all week will fire up, and this week that team is the Bummers, not us. Blues by 10 points.

The shit the bummers cop for losing to the Dockers the harder they will be for us to beat on Sat night.

I think the lack of Bower cost us against the Lions and he may be sorely missed again but I also think Betts and Yazz will be better in front of goal this week.

I largely think we were pretty good last week. Our effort was not in question for mine.

We'll win by 19 points and I 'll be drunk when we do

History has shown in Carl Ess games that the underdog 99% of the time comes out on top so the Bombers will give a good account of themselves as usual against us...I have a feeling however that we will reverse this trend and win based purely on the belief that the coaching staff are due to get it tactically right against this mob sooner or later...

Looks like McVeigh is out with blood poisoning. Are they turning on their own? Lol. Which of his team mates did he shower with.

We have lost the 5 games in a row to these noobs, so they have to be favorites going in.
Its about time we get a win up against this mob and put them down the bottom of the ladder with Richmond where they belong.

The Scum will come into this game fired up, so we need to control them early and then smash 'em. Nothing less than a 10 goal win will make me happy.

This is a must win.

That's one of the more disappointing posts I've read here for a while. Why are we trying to create factions between Carlton supporters?

Yep, I am realist. You would read this forum and think this game is a gimmee. We never beat them easily. I don't care how badly they played last week, effectively, they will be playing for their season. They will be fired up. One point from last week overides the "green shoots" (forwards, midfield & comeback) and that is the opposition scored 80 points from our turnovers. BOTTOM TEAMS CAN BEAT US IF OUR SKILL LEVEL REMAINS AS POOR. And another thing this forum is not a love in. It is here to develop insight into the team and provide constructive criticism.

Look there’s no doubt that this would be a boring place if we all agreed about everything. And of course there will be always be optimists and pessimists. But I think your post about sticking it right up the optimists is taking it a bit far, don’t you think? Attack the ball, not the man. We’re all Carlton supporters, after all.

Both clubs will be playing for their season. Our loss should hurt just as much as their loss and the blow torch should be well and truly applied to several senior players who either turned over the ball under no pressure or missed easy shots on goal. I can cope with kids making mistakes but blokes that have played over 100 games should not be costing us games and on Thursday night they did.
Turnovers will decide the game.

Does anybody else think it's a silly idea to have Yazza / Garlett & Betts in the same side?

Could give us the edge in terms of speed.

I do....at this stage. Betts is really the only one of the 3 providing pace where we need it...through the midfield.

..not true, bummers tend to run the ball out from defence, we'll need to restrict that..

Betts should be told that he will be dropped if he has another bad one. He needs to lead the way, he has been around long enough and 0.4 is not good enough. Garlett will take your spot if you don't lift. Players of his experience need to make sure they win us those type (Brisbane) of games.
