Pretty good article but I loved this quote

Quote:
I regularly heard in the first round through the commentary that Fevola wasn't playing. Well, believe me, he won't be playing again. Everyone has to get over it, just as Carlton's coaching staff has in setting up a new structure.

I reckon the media may be "over it" by 2010

He should check his facts:

Quote:
West Coast got a pick that enabled it to pick up Josh Kennedy in that deal.

Ah, no... that wasn't a pick, that was a player.

I'd blame an amateur ghostwriter, or a very very poor subeditor, who should know better.

However talented Fev was/is I concur with Mark McLure that Fev is just way too selfish a footballer and we are better off without him, irrespective of his off field antics.

J Brown is the perfect CHF and captain for Fev, where Brendon won't believe he rules the roost.

i hate that he is collingwood, but ive actually got alot of time for malthouse. a student of the game and he, unlike sheedy was at the end of this career, still actually has a very good grasp of the game.

I don't believe he'll ever change; regardless of his captain.

Judd, Brown, Hird, Buckley etc whoever it is Fev will still be a problem child.

Time we moved on I reckon...

I think Voss was quite canny taking on Fev. He knows full well that Fev is damaged goods and that cheapened his price, but in J Brown he had the only captain in the league big enough and dominant enough to command Fev's respect (or obedience, at least).

\u think he will crash into J Brown with the same disregard as Setanta, or blast/eyeball other teammates for hitting up Brown instead of himself ?

Hehehe. I can recall one time in 185 games of Fevola crashing into a teammate's back and only one time it has happened to an opponent to disastrous results and both incidents happened in 2009. Goldfish type thought patterns it would appear.

Anyone remember who took out Lonergan's kidney?

I actually think it's a reasoned view of how things are at PP...

I'd be happy to speak with him about future positions... for one.

Not all of it I agree with but then who does?

Correct, he ended Whitnall's season a few back by crashing into his shoulder, not his back.

The Johnno Brown leadership is a beat-up IMO. Brown is an imposing figure onfield but is also a typical country footballer type, come season's end he'll be hitting the piss just as hard as Fevola.

Did you like the bit in the Fev article post game how he was so nervous pre-match that he went to Brownie's who made him a cappuccino and calmed his nerves.

I had no idea that "cappucino" was the new terminology for "Beers" in Queensland?

I like Malthouse, but the article reads to me like a justification for his appalling trade record at Collingwood. Very revisionist - it's easy to be an expert on trades AFTER the fact and he is using this to justify the fact that Collingwood tries to screw every side in the league when it comes to trades, on the basis of what the player traded out MIGHT DO!

Malthouse's speech on Stevens last year (justifying not trading Didak because Stevens was finished) is another example. It was a poor speech. Whatever Stevens' faults (and he has plenty), the decision to retire was not his fault and the injury might not have happened if he went to Collingwood.

The Swans are the best example of opportunistic traders. They look for win/win results. I don't care what Fev does in Brisbane, but I hope and believe that Henderson/Lucas will be a winner.

NB. Also interesting that he left Armfield/Notte out of the Judd trade. Notte has been a spud to date and Armfield in the second half of last year became a very handy footballer.

Yep.

Just wait until Fev has an absolute stinker of a day and then verbal sprays will begin.

JB might tell him it's not on, but he'll still do it.

Fev also took about Whitnall for half a season around 2001-2003?
