I dont care what anyone says about us being better than them and that we should beat these filthy c#nts all things being equal, blah, blah, blah...

But a loss to these flowers on Saturday is completely unacceptable. We have posed and strutted like big men the last few times, talking about revenge and retribution and sadly have been nothing short of humiliating. Especially the last outing.

No excuses this time. Fire up or @#$%&! off! :hitcomputer:

Moving on from that, Freo smashed Essendon* because late last year, Knights took Freo's game plan that they'd be working on through the season, and integrated it into his own. It's typically a zone which uses most of the 18, but doesn't cover forward of CHF, I call it a 3/4 zone myself but I'm sure there's a better name (zone defence for dummies is another). The trick is how to move the ball from the centre circle forward.

Every other team will watch that game and learn how to beat both teams by how they beat each other.

Personally I think we have Essendon* beat in every phase bar their defensive unit which is well manned and marshalled, but they do have speed and agility over us. How we choose to pressure them is extremely important.

Any chance of the MRP growing a spine and putting More-frees out for a week for his hit on Silvagni?

Bomberblitz is an interesting read right now. They are gutted about the Fremantle result and think they will get rolled by us next week. I happen to agree.

Looks like there will be some interesting outs for them to this week.

Jetta has a broken thumb, Dempsey probably suspended. Hille badly underdone and Ryder apparently under severe pressure to keep his spot. Never thought I would see them wanting Laycock back in but that's what they're saying. Lovett-Murray apparently will return against us (hasn't played).

All in all sounds quite good. AJ and Robinson to make Monfries life uncomfortable.

How about we play our own game and let them worry about us. Man for man let them concern themsleves about how they are going to stop a rampant Blues onball brigade pumping the ball inside 50 time after time. Let them worry that Eddie and Yarran have had their bad game and this week they will kick 8 between them.

Let them worry that Hendo and Setanta are just running into some nice form.

I know that is a concept foreign to many here on TC but give it a try. It might just make the next week bearable. :smoking:

Here's another novel idea. How about Ratts develops his metacognitive ability and actually reflects on and learns from his previous 5 f#$% ups against this lot.

I didn't think Yazz had that bad a game... His defensive pressure was outstanding. I wish he had of taken the shot after that impressive gather early in the fourth, he had all the time in the world. I know he was doing the team thing, but when you have that much skill and space, you need to be more selfish.

Betts has a lot more experiance so put the sword through him no doubt.

I agree that they will both turn it on next week. :smoking:

Nice even spread of goals this week, should win but anything can happen as Knighter seems to have Ratts measure.

Knights game-plan (speaking to the entire scum playing group pre-game)
" Right, now when you get the ball run as fast as you can towards our goal, dont forget to bounce it, i know some of you boys arent too bright!
That should towel Ratts up says knights, its worked the last few times.
Staring straight at Monga jr he says, And Anus, dont forget to dive!"

Big game for the club this week !

A win this week will set us up well for a challenging 5 week stint against adel, coll, geel, st kilda, port.

A loss this week means we could very well be 2/6 (or even worse)....a win could see us 3/5 with a chance of turning 4/4 (with a good shot of finals footy again).

It is also a big game for B Ratten.

I'm on the fence with Ratts...but I must admit that I've been moderately pleased with the developments in individuals and how we've set up and tried to move the ball over the first couple of weeks !

But even blind Freddie (or the more optimistic TCers) would concede that Ratts has had his pants pulled down the last few times vs Essendon*. And as a wise man once said smart people make mistakes but only DUMB people make the same mistakes again !!!

It is time for Ratts to prove himself so please, please, please protect the corridor and force them wide !

Pretty close.

No dash or dare: Dons coach Knights left lamenting

''I just thought we played slow football," Knights said. ''It's really interesting. We went back over the mark a lot, we tried to kick the ball a lot, we didn't see a lot of dash or a lot of dare that we have seen from the team in the last couple of years.

''That's what happens when you go back playing slow, pedantic footy. It doesn't suit our group and it doesn't suit where we are going. I thought we played very pedestrian football today at times and just wanted to kick, kick, kick.''

They're actually a worse team than they were last year, which doesn't happen often these days. I think this is the chance we have been waiting for. Based on last year's form I thought we would get beaten but based on this year's we should get over them OK.

A win without Judd and 2-1 is better than most pundits thought we would be. Then I think we have Adelaide, who aren't flying that well, either.

One week at a time....

That's one of the more disappointing posts I've read here for a while. Why are we trying to create factions between Carlton supporters?

Anyway, I went to the Essendon* v Freo game yesterday as a Freo mate of mine was in town. I had a great day, even backed the Essendon-Fremantle HT-FT double at $9. Essendon* were appalling. Even when they were in front I was certain they would lose, they were disorganised, indecisive and had terrible terrible disposal. Their forward line is a shambles.

I don't love getting them on the rebound because they will cop a hiding in the press this week, but on the other hand they are in bad form so hopefully we can take advantage of that. If we have our head right and our match ups right I think we can win this convincingly.

Nothing will be sweeter than making these turds go naught and three. Looking forward to it. I know we'll win.

At the moment there is a lot of talk about dropping players like Williams and Davey. It will be interesting to see what their MC come up with.
