They are just no good. We will belt them.

Of course we will. As we did in '08 and '09.

Not disputing the fact that all things being equal, we should win. The reality is, our recent history in similar circumstances against this mob is poor to say the least.

Just making the point that we must be absolutely ready for this game. Anything less and serious questions will be asked of all concerned.

+1

In the past the boys have either
a) Thought they've had it in the bag, believed the articles etc.
b) Simply don't offer this pack of cauliflower the hatred they deserve. They come up against us with bloodlust and pure hatred, we treat like any other opposition. They ARE NOT any other @#$%&! opposition!

hope ratts and the MC were watching today ...

loved a bit of play in the last when the dockers with all the momentum went inside F50 again. ump pulled a free out of his ass to hille who immediately looked to launch a counter-attack through the corridor, the sort of scenario that usually burns us. BUT, freo had a 3 man line placed in that centre square zone and ended up chopping off the pass and goaling ...

that's the sort of tactical and structural discipline required to stymie their route 1, high risk high reward game.

I didn't see the incident that Dempsey got reported for - however it sounds like he won't be playing next week.

We should beat this mob however the last 3 times we've played them I've been confident we would win so who knows what will happen.

They will probably bring in Reimers & Lovett-Murray who enjoy playing against us

We are also due for the famous double: Razor Ray & McLaren

I think they had a tupperware party to attend but never fear, they will no doubt read the papers tomorrow to get the gist.

If we can keep Lloyd and Lucas under control, clamp down on Lovett and minimise McPhee's run off half back, we should be a chance.

They looked very sluggish and no structure - i wonder whether they were feeling the effects of a pretty big game last week.

they went very small in thier forward line at times so we will need to be on our game - Jamo to Gumbles will be a given....hate to say it but he looked ok today at times.

what agreat way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon.....

not sure it will help us that we don't have judd & fev...
they have the ability to keep our 2 average tall forwards in check. but that's about where it ends for them.

we should beat them easily b/c we are better and we need to win games against teams we are better than and also pinch a few off teams who are better than us (like we should have against brisbane on thu...)

in the past few matches against them, we have been killed by lloyd, lovett, hille and our own heads!
lloyd, lovett are gone.
i think kruezer/warnock should now have hille's measure.
the only way we can lose is if our heads aren't right.

as others have said, own the corridor. win by 10 goals.

(PS. I hope ratts also saw how the swans demolished adelaide at AAMI...)

I did and I doubt he could get weeks for that ... points at most. Reckless but no impact. Be good if he did, he's an important run and carry player for them. Speaking of which ... what happened to that? They had none. Lovett

Funny ... the heat was on the Blues for not having a forward line with the absence of Fev prior to the season ... the Bombers forward line is a shambles without Lloyd and Lucas. Gumbleton looks way behind Hendo development-wise (that ball drop is hilarious) and give me Yarran and Eddie over Momfrigger, Williams and Davey.

Their forward line went from poor in the first half to non-existent in the second.

hmmmm, thought sarcasm was frowned upon here ... you swagger about here sailing very close to board rules IMO ... oh well it's who you know i guess ...

perhaps it was a throwaway line to signify that ratts & co have got it wrong against this mob in the past few encounters and here's hoping they get it right this time

Clearly the last two years they might as well have been at a tuppeware party. We have been totally incapable of doing anything about Andrew Lovett, and have played a semi retired Mathew Lloyd back into form in each encounter over the last 2 years. Fortunately we don't have to worry about that this year. We should smash them, we are in good form, and they are crap. Ratt's seems to be in form too. Don't think there will be any changes. Perhaps Joey Anderson might lose his spot. We have too many guys with questionable disposal in the back half. Might be the game to give Lucas a run. Perhaps Jacobs for Warnock. Warnock has battled hard but has a way to go and at this stage doesn't really take much advantage of his height and Jacobs sounds like he is in good touch. Like to see him throw his weight around against Hille.

I've been happy so far. This week was a good performance marred by some shocking disposal and poor goal kicking. Hopefully TBird will be better this week. Brown is a superstar but TBird was diabolical. Standing ten metres off your opponent with your arms up while he gathers the ball, turns steadies and kicks a goal is not putting pressure on. Bret needs to be an opponent not an escort.

We don't just want to win we want to smash them. If we don't win this site will crash under the weight of supporter vitriol. We cannot lose to these arrogant poseurs.

Let's help precipitate a crisis at Bomberland. They are every chance of being 0-7

Can't see us waiting all this time for Warnock to get his body right then dropping him after 2 games. Have you watched his tap work at all?

They will be so pumped and on the rebound. It will go to the wire because they will be playing for their season.
- We have to stop Jobe Watson & Stanton. (Hadley?)
- Test for Setanta & Hendersen. We won't win unless Betts and Yarran fire up. Wouldn't mind seeing Santi and Hendo bring the ball to ground for them as it will be hard to score 3 or 4 goals each against a quality backline (Garlett for Andersen?)
- Watch Gumbleton like a hawk. He looked ready for a break out game.
- They match up well against us and they will be on......we better not be too confident...... I will take a 1 point win

You are probably right that they will persevere with him. I think he has been quite good, worked hard. I think his tap work has been okay. With his height I actually expected him to be more dominant in the ruck contests, and he doesn't seem to have much of a leap.

RR seems to suggest Jacobs tap work is outstanding and he is more physical and he can also hold an overhead mark. Also Warnock didn't seem to be able to help the defence out and looks no danger when he stands up forward. It will no doubt take him a while after being out for a year, and he has been serviceable. I am by no means writing him off but we have 4 capable ruckmen on our list and they should be picked on form. Big K was again outstanding and we fell away when he had to rest. At the moment I don't think it is a matter of who might be better in 12 months, you would expect it to be Warnock given how hard we traded for him. But at the moment is he offering more than Jacobs could? Is his tapwork better than Jacobs, can he hold an overhead mark, can he contest in defence to help the backmen, can he provide a physical presence against a strong ruckman like Hille? I actually would like Hammo developed as Big Ks 2ic but he seems to be injured. I'd love to see Jacobs given a go and Warnock given more time to develop in the 2s.

Here's a novel idea.

How about we play our own game and let them worry about us. Man for man let them concern themsleves about how they are going to stop a rampant Blues onball brigade pumping the ball inside 50 time after time. Let them worry that Eddie and Yarran have had their bad game and this week they will kick 8 between them.

Let them worry that Hendo and Setanta are just running into some nice form.

I know that is a concept foreign to many here on TC but give it a try. It might just make the next week bearable. :smoking:

this match is enormous in determining the fortunes of both these sides for 2010. Both clubs have an incredibly difficult first 2 months and will see a win as paramount next weekend. should be a cracker. pound for pound we are a better side, but we have been for the last 5 encounters and they keep finding a way to get the chocolates. make no mistake any win against these cauliflower is massive
