Bombers must be destroyed.

Destroyed in a season-defining way that leaves them questioning their entire list and strategy (ala Tiges 2009).

Robbo to take out Monfries with a hit so savage that all memory of how to play football is erased and that leaves him walking aimlessly around the MCG like a lost child.

Blues to win because:
* Eddie will not miss 4 relatively easy shots at goal again
* The bummers don't have an inspirational leader like Brown to save them
* Every game we get into that forward combination they will improve on their impressive start
* 6 day break

Sounds like a good plan, and donstui to deliver the pre game and half time speeches.
We cannot lose if that happens.

Reimers and Neagle were omitted for McVeigh and Myers.

We'll probably play Myers and Williams into form.

Our small and medium forwards should get more space next week if we can improve our forward structure. :hitcomputer:

Even our mids push back harder than Essendon*'s...

Shannon Byrnes kicked three against this mob...

The boys need to be physical. Especially towards the little squib Monfries. Be physical but within the boundaries of the rules. Sounds impossible, I know, but genuine toughness is rewarded if you're first to the footy and willing to put your head over the ball. Tackle ferociously, harrass, chase, do the one percenters. Put Essendon* under pressure and they will buckle, as seen with Geelong last week.

Ratten should try to have numbers continually crowding up the corridor, forcing them wide. The last few times we have played them they have been allowed the freedom to play the game on their terms. It has to be different this time, otherwise Ratten and the coaches need questioning.

One aspect of our game we must get right is being able to push back quickly when the ball gets turned over. A couple of times last night it caught us out. This will kill us against a side like Essendon*, as they will murder us with their pace and ball movement.

After playing the Lions with the likes of Brown and Fevola, it sounds strange but this game is one of our biggest tests this year.

Both times last year we were up and pulling away in the second, only for a little incident to occur, that dud Alwyn Davey (Yes he's fast; no, he's not young) to get in someone's face and us to be stupid enough to concede a free, and then a Bomber run-on. We've got to be smart.

Lloyd has done really well on us over the past 3 years and will be missed by them. Lovett of course as well.

They have a number of good mid sized forwards that with their delivery in space (that perform against us), could hurt us. We have to control their run / space and block where possible.

Predictable opponent this week...just need to nullfiy their run through the middle....and the games ours...sounds simple but it obviously isn't as we have managed to fluff it the last 5 times we've played them...I reckon the absence of Fev and Judd will work in our favour this time around though...this should confuse Knights long enough for us to get over the line...

Does White have the mobility of Joey to play on a Williams or Jnr Monga type?

Yeah i was thinking no Fev and Judd will help us too. Making Fletcher accountable will open up our forward line and no Judd will mix it up a bit around the midfield.

They are also missing the blokes that usually fire up against us. LLoyd, Lovett and Lucas. If we can shut that cheat Monfrees out we should chin them.

We will have to kick straight when we have momentum though or else we will balls it up like last week.

Freo are on track to beat the bombers. 5 min in the last, Freo up by 17 points.

Dempsey reported for punching Ballantyne.

Interesting.

We need to get the best out of our team - pure and simple.

We have the ruck division, we have defensive options, and our midfield (all but missing Judd) should be in the top of the afl. Our forward line have options as well.

Bury them.

So important a game, and so crucial a win that I am currently debating the costs of flying to Melbourne to be one of the massive crowd baying for the blood of a 0-2 Essendon*.....

My last such mission was the breaking of the mythical streak against Collingwood in Rd 4 on a lazy Sunday two years ago... :) The game where I was thinking "what is a player of Judd's skill actually going to do for us?" before he rose up and got 10000000 possessions in the 4th...

They'll have the blowtorch applied internally and externally this week. As it would be, in readiness for us. Typical.

Forget the first 2 rounds, they'll be ready for us. Nothing is more certain. If Ratts and the boys are not fully prepared for this game, there should be significant consequences.

Of course we will. As we did in '08 and '09.

Not disputing the fact that all things being equal, we should win. The reality is, our recent history in similar circumstances against this mob is poor to say the least.

Just making the point that we must be absolutely ready for this game. Anything less and serious questions will be asked of all concerned.

Was it 2008 we played them Round 3 and started 0-3 to end our season pretty much?

PAYBACK Blues .. if you can't get up for this game over four quarters we have issues.

DESTROY their season.
