Perfect scenario:

Bummers are all cocky leading into the game 'got the wood over us...' blah blah.
Bummers are full strength - no significant injuries.
Bummers get at least twice the free kicks that Carlton do, including a dubious double goal. (Will probably happen anyway).

Carlton win by 10 goals.

Ratten states 'The result was pleasing but I think we found beating this mob about as easy as flogging Richmond so we're looking forward to some proper opposition.'

Herald Sun backpage headline: 'Bomber braves cheated of victory by nasty old Blues.'

The singling out of Anderson by posters is blatantly unfair when I see many others in the team making the same mistakes but for some reason they aren't mentioned. It's ridiculous.

To whom do you refer? And do they have any positive plays to speak of?

At the moment Anderson treads water or makes mistakes. Yes he's a defender but you look at Armfield, Russell and Joseph and how they defend then supplement the attack. I know for a fact that this is an instinctive part of Joey's game but his skills haven't progressed to an AFL standard, so he curbs it. Then he's left second guessing his every possession.

Having said that, we may need him to man Williams or Monfries this week, as the Bombers will likely operate a one or two tall forward line.

Robinson is the other player I would target for omission. I really don't like his decision making when he has the ball either; he's the yang to Anderson's yin in that respect, constantly trying to produce something special when forward of centre. What's worse is that this week he just got lost in the game and followed up his 9 tackles with a meagre 2. Should be bringing in 4 each week.

Again, he may remain in because I think he can cause match-up difficulties for the Dons. Not sure how long he and Joey can hold out players like Lucas, Garlett, Browne, Grigg and ever Kerr who can bring some exciting things to the team.

IN: Bower (hopeful) Garlett (if he plays another good Ants game)
OUT: Anderson Robinson

B: Joseph Jamison Thornton
HB: Russell Bower Armfield
C: Gibbs Carrazzo Scotland
HF: Yarran Henderson Waite
F: Betts Setanta Garlett
FOLL: Kreuzer Murphy McLean
IC: Warnock Houlihan Walker Simpson

EM: Jacobs Hadley Lucas

Bring in pace against the Bumbers
Plenty of forwardline pressure
Bower hopefully returns to stabilise the back 6.
Bower, Armfield, Joseph and Russell provide plenty of pace from the backline.

A must win against the ass holes.
Would really love a 10 goal win, but will be happy with 9 goal win.
Should win by 5 goals.

If we win this I think we will make the 8.

This could be the best game of the year

Well, the general understanding seems to be that the Bombers leak goals after 3 qtr time so you would think that if we stayed with them till then, or hopefully were a few goals in front by then, then we could run away with it in the last qtr.

BUT...............

I am expecting a James Hird or worse, a Robert Walls article to come out midweek and curse us. Always seems to be the way! :banghead:

I had to 'ban' myself for a week last time we lost to them. Don't know what I'll do if we lose again. It's becoming harder and harder to put into mere words my hatred for these flowers.

Umm...
at the risk of being killed,
why is it exactly that we hate 'em?
I like Jobe Watson..is that wrong?(duck and cover..)
I don't fear that team...sure they've had the rub on us for a while..but I always feel like we are better than them anyway..and sure we'l get the next flag before them.
No worries.
really.

Matthew Lloyd (on his own this should be enough)
Kevin Sheedy
Patrick Smith
Mark Robinson
93 Grand Final
Dean Wallis
Ron Evans
Monfries
Reimers
Campo
Chamberlain
McLaren
Goldspink
Suspiciously forgotten salary cap breaches (by the guy who gleefully penalised us to the stone-age)
Hird and Sheedy getting FIREWORKS for their last game
The media's uncontrollable love affair with everything to do with them
Most recent example: Hille cleared to play after trying to decapitate Jimmy Bartel

Tip of the iceberg...

Well put Donstuie...tip of the iceberg. That period 1983-1986 was heart wrenching. Remember the umpire taking the ball off Fitzpatrick, and instead of balling it up he gave it to Essendon*....the rest is history.

These bastards well and truly wanted to shut us out of the competition on Black Friday. One word Ronevans.....that word alone should turn your guts if you're a Carlton supporter. He was commissioner when the Bumbers were caught cheating the salary cap and won a GF in doing so...they kept their flag and copped less that $100K fine. He is the same guy who penalised us with $1M fine and draft penalties in the hope that they would close us down.

Never forget why we hate them so much...moreso than Colonwood and the Tiggers for me nowadays, although the name Neil Balme still turns my guts.

Nothing against Hird, just the hysteria surrounding his retirement.

Yes, Angus.

Melbourne ruining our PP farewell is nothing compared to what we've endured to this pack of scumsuckers. And at least with them we've gotten our 'revenge' multiple times since. These ones on the other hand get away with murder yet their uppance never comes. Just watch what 'punishment' Hurley receives for the latest example.

In short, these guys have had a hand in nearly every miserable experience we've endured as Carlton supporters for the past two and half decades. It goes beyond football.

To whoever is given the task on Monfries,

We all know that you can't touch him as he will milk a certain free kick, somehow, and then proceed to kick a goal. This we must acknowledge and accept.
So, can you then just let him take possession without physical contact but make sure to stay right next to him and corralling him onto his non-preferred side and out of his comfort zone thus forcing a more than likely error/turnover.

Yeah, the last two additions to their team seem to have an influence on us every single time!

It will be a fast free flowing game, and we simply need to match 'em. They haven't got a forward line, but we have to keep an eye out for David Hille. He has always been dangerous against us.

I hope Bower comes back this week, as we need his defensive prowess ... and look forward to our fearless leader coming back the week after.

That's right. Every year they pump up our tyres in the leadup and we take our eyes off the ball. Don't fall for it.

I'd also like to point out that if the boys treat this as 'just another game' and don't experience the bloodlust that we supporters do, they deserve a slap in the face. Ratts, get them @#$%&! angry.
