5 day break vs 7 day break. Interesting.

Over hearing that tonight to be honest. It's round 2 FFS, not the middle of winter, and it's elite athletes with elite facilities that we're talking about.

POTW. Elite athletes with a great pre-season grounding. Just a light week with some skill sharpening work and they are ready to go. Also more aclimatised to the humidity.

Simply, Brown the difference. One on one he beats every defender in the league (name one who has stopped him). I'd have rather played Walker on him to run off if the pass was astray, and use Thornton up forward. Good thing is that Brissy are nowhere near a flag, and that means Fev could end his career without one. Nice post match interview though (he can sound like a nice bloke sometimes can't he ?).

although he may not have the stats I thought we looked at our best when Kruezer played on the ball and lost momentum when warnock rucked

brown was simply awesome

interesting to see how our confidence holds up for next week ...

We're showing some good signs. Should have won the game, we dominated in key areas for large parts of the night and just didn't capitalise on it.

Agree 100%.

Me too. Too much doom and gloom on here. They will be tough to beat up there, esp with Brwon in that form. One that maybe got away, but not the end of the world.

Very disappointing. When you look at it they had a full 4 day break and one guy on the bench before half time. They were a lot cleaner, knew what they were doing and didn't panic ..... and then there was Brown. Again very disappointing and a lot of work needed to become competitive against the top teams.

And this pretty much sums up where we are at...

Anyone salivating at what Juddy can do when he comes back, based on Brock's performances so far?

Forget about an adductor release Juddy...everything will be released with Brock feeding him the hard balls.

Brock has been a gun in the two matches thus far.

I think that Ratts will take a lot out of this game.

Obviously Bower's loss hurt us big time - what a team to be playing without one of your key backmen to provide flexibility and valuable run out of defence. Would have made a huge difference if he had taken the park.

I think from tonights game we can tell that the forward line has the ability to function well. It's just going to take a while for it to 'click' and the boys become predictable to each other and work effectivity together. We can't expect guys like Setanta, who has been played in every position in his career to date, Henderson who is 17 games into his career, and Yarran as a second year player to fire week in week out. It's going to take time and I think from tonights match we know that Henderson will be a fantastic CHF for us and Setanta can find the ball and kick goals.

Crucially Setanta needs to learn more poise and composure when he gets the football. If there's even a slim chance he'll play on - which can be good but it can also work him into a situation where he is under pressure, and his skills don't stand up to it. It's a top gear rollercoaster when he gets the ball and he needs to learn to slow and control the situation and the outcome better.

Same with Robinson. LOVE his pressure in the stoppages and tackles but he can't mindlessly play on every time he gets the ball. It's great when it works but terrible and demoralising when it doesn't.

We're really starting to see the value of Matty Kreuzer shine through. We noticeably go down a cog when he's not in the centre square IMO. What a gun! Just love the way this bloke plays, he endlessly hunts the ball and motors around the ground, so happy he's a Navy Blue.

Agree. Warnock was woeful in the ruck for a bloke his size. He's ok around the ground, but insipid at ruck contests. Thought he was just rusty last week and would improve, but was exposed tonite. Sauce or Hammer, come on down.

Brock has been very good thus far. A definite positive.

Whilst I'm always disappointed to lose, I'll cop that loss.

Clearly the difference was Brown - It was one of those performances where you just sit back and go 'wow, this guy is going to pull them over the line' - and he did.

Minus Judd+Bower+with waite+armfield underdone +away from home +Brown's game - we were up against it - 22 points isnt too bad.

Johnstone - 21 uncontested possessions and 13 effective kicks.

Who was on him? :hitcomputer:

We need Judd there to feed off our Mclean and put to the most dangerous spot on the ground to straighten us up.

I hope Lucas is a good kick.

Todd Banfield is almost another Sherman with his pace and step.

Walker was good.

And he kicked better than our so called better kicks.

Fact.

Best 22 easily.

Anderson stepped up after half time, but still needs more games to truly find his feet and feel at home.

A bit like Russell.

No one could have stopped Brown.

Great game by Jonathan Brown. In great form.

I thought we would run over them but they are fitter than i expected. That and crowd bringing them home.
Our kicking was poor. Turnovers cost us early and then again late robbing us of momemtum.

Not kicking straight at goal really hurts.

My personal opinon over two weeks is Banfield is a hack job.

What did Fevola do that was so startling?

Besides his dive and acting like the wronged partner.

All Fevola did was draw opponents from Brown.

Bradshaw or Hall could have done that...

And kicked three or four goals.

You make a lot of good points.

Lots of points with words and words.

Many spaces.

Between points.

Spaces.

And spaces.

Lots of lines with space.

This is a point.

And another point.

Is the Gabba a dry ground?

That might explain why Verbs wasn't at the game.

Good player.

Rich is the most overrated midfielder this side of Daniel Wells.

Has feet of clay -no second gear- and no right foot if you catch him inside.

My friends and I watched the Ranga a lot last year. He has put a suspicious amount of bulk on over the summer.

He has pace and skill but is a knob. This time last year I'd have said forgetaboutit. But he has bulked up over summer. He needs a good nose flattening though.
