From The Age article, it would seem that Bower is out.
BUT.... what if Ratts is playing with them like they did with us for the final?

That would be delicious. But, I fear the certainty with which Niall reported it indicates to me that it is a fairly solid source.

No doubt they will try and stretch us with Brennan, Leuey, Clarke and Staker so I guess we will need a 3rd tall. I presume it will either be Waite or Walker. We don't have many other options with Austin still injured. Maybe White could be bought up for Fisher (LTI) at a pinch. By all accounts he has been good on the track and in the VFL.

I think having Waite up forward for as long as possible will make it easier for Carlos and Hendo.

For me Walker has to go back. Not only with Bower out but for his own career. He gets lost in the midfield and needs to settle into a role where he can do a job. CHB could easily be the role for him. He can match up well against the guys like Reiwoldt, Mooney, Murphy, Anthony etc. He has the ability in the air, speed off the mark and has the engine to not only to keep with these players but also run off them.

Agree with Cazz that Waite has to play forward atleast for a large part of the game. Takes the pressure off Setanta and Hendo.

Game will be decided by midfield and ours is better. Also Brions have a short break and look very leg weary last sat night in heavy conditions.

Like to see Garlett get a go but it will be Armfield for Bower.

He's not a bad journo Niall. I would be surprised (sadly) if he wasn't on the money, considering the language used there.

I'm going to go back to my post a little while ago, and suggest if we're making changes we bring in runners. If it's going to be wet the difference in preparation between us and them becomes even more important. I think a smaller, tougher unit who will run hard all night may be the answer.

So if we have a need for a 3rd tall, the idea of Walker sounds good to me. Maybe bring in Hadley and really work them over at the stoppages?

I think running out the game will be the key to winning this one.

If Bower's out, we could have some fun and fire up the big Irishman pre match and stick him on Fev.

Especially given the new rules allowing the defender to spoil the back of the forwards head. The Dawson clause I believe its called.

For mine, the game will be won in the midfield. We just have to work so hard going back.
When this mob get a run on , they are hard to stop.
If they don't get a run on, they are ordinary.
West Coast had them for 3 quarters.
ps:
put a hard tag on Black

Wrong.
Forecast is for early rain.
The Gabba will be a treat by gametime.
For those that don't know, have a look at bom.gov.au

Jake Niall's article came out after BF & TC threads stated Bower copped an injury in training on Saturday. They all had the same vague information.

While someone may have witnessed training and saw Bower pull up a bit sore, beyond that I would suggest there is no truth to any of this until teams are named and Bower is missing, simply because there are no other sources for this story.

Moral: Bower is seemingly fine

No idea. I was only going on the suggestion he was out that was in The Age.

i'm hoping that we don't get penalised too much by that apparent new rule:

"If the player in possession ducks his head, he gets a free kick".

Would love to see the blues win this one, would put all the people saying "it was only richmond" in their place.

Anyone prepared to call it?

If Bower fit, then Lucas in, Ando out
If Bower to miss, then Dangles in for Bower (Ando stays)

If Bower is out I would bring in Hammer and push Hendo or Waite back - Hammo would stretch their defence with his speed and both Hendo and Waite are capable of playing back

what needs to be done is what Pears did last year and that is to run off Fev - make him chase and blow up - The same can be said of Brown - If we get the ball i want to see Jamo marking un contested in our forward 50-

and conceed the pocket we all know how lazy Fev is so give him the pockets to lead to he is to selfish most times to seek the better option so if he is going to get its better off being tucked in on the boundary

Jake wouldn't say what he said unless he had real good reason to think PB will miss
