Will be interesting to see if Tom Rockliff plays because I rate him as a small forward.

But yeah I agree AJ on Black is a good idea. Taking Black out of the game as much as possible will go a long way to winning

I think he can be safely ignored if we're winning the clearances. ;)

I cant emphasise enough how much i want to win this one.... i was the biggest Fev supporter going around... but when he started bagging the club for not supporting him and he wishes he left earlier... i was livid.... now i hate the bloke!!

What I wish for, is not to see any of our players holding the ball in the air in the dying minutes of ANY of
the four quarters.

Play out all four quarters and we'll piss it in.!!!!!!

It makes sense to retain possession of the ball at the end of quarters; especially if we're holding a slender lead.

Agree: need to draw him out from HF, or stick AJ on him.

But not with 5-10 minutes to go in the quarter when we have ALL the momentum ala Richmond game :screwy:

I'd personally stick Gibbs on Black as he is one player who has the ability to be both accountable and win his own ball and use it well ala Bartel.

If Army comes back in I'd put AJ on Sherman and have Walker on Brennan. It's good to shut the glory boys of Brisbane out of the game with the GABBA crowd.

5-10 minutes to go is not at the end of quarters.....there's still 5-10 minutes to go.

No I realise that, and thats fair enough, I wasn't having a go at you. My comment was in reference to what the boys did in the Richmond game, sometimes with more than 5 minutes to go. Again, regardless of whether theres 5 minutes to go or 30 seconds to go when we have momentum we should attack.

if you watched the game you might have noticed they got one goal from a turnover when they tried to slow it down - after they got that goal that went back to playing as they were and they proceeded to kick another 2

If we had kept our compusure after the first the other 2 wouldn't have happened

I like the AJ on Power matchup. Others I'd look at are:

Carrots vs Rich
Gibbs vs Black
Houlihan vs Sherman
Robbo on Drummond - No chance in hell will Robbo let Drummond get an easy kick if he is in the vicinity. Will also make Drummond accountable.

The wildcard for Brisbane will be Staker who played pretty well the other night. If he takes a few marks early he takes away T-Bird or Bower as the third man up option, although a secondary option could be JR playing off Banfield to fill the void?

Should be a great ruck contest as well with Leuy and Clark vs Kreuzer and Warnock.

The Brisbane defense matches up pretty well on us, Goose on Henderson, Merret on Carlos and Patful on Waite, then McGrath on Betts.

I'm still not convinced about our fitness to run the game out in Brisbane. The past two games Brisbane have hit us hard in the last quarter and should've won both, not just the one that counted most.

I'm tipping Brisbane by 34pts purely on fitness alone. I hope I'm wrong.

..no way, Black's too tall for AJ, plus i'd rather utilise his pace, and Black ain't pacy so it's wasted tagging a player that will outmark him almost every time..

In the past three games (or more importantly - since Voss took over) We have been the dominant team (despite our loss).

The first game - we ran all over them for 3 qtrs, but they came back strong!

The second game - we played well and won at the gabba despite again a late surge from the lions.

The third game - we killed them for 3qtrs then just let them walk all over us!

during these games, Fevola kicked 5, 8 and 3 respectively.

What does all the above mean? .......................

Well i'll tell you what they mean.....................

It will at least be an entertaining game.

(sorry - i got nuthin else! :donk: )

Yes that's exactly my point.. We tried to slow it down too early, turned it over, and let them back in. They got a goal, got their tails up and the momentum swung their way. We should never have slowed it down in the first place when we were dominating play

Few carlton players blowing pretty hard with their hands on their hips when tigers snapped their first.
