watched the game twice :) (at the G and what I recorded once home)

We spanked them in the ruck...
our ruckmen (kreuzer+warnock) - 12 kicks, 20 handballs, 8 marks, 43 hitouts, 7 tackles
tigers ruckmen (vickery+simmonds) - 4 kicks, 10 handballs, 3 marks, 26 hitouts, 2 tackles

mclean - huge first game for the club
carazzo - 40 possies, lead from the front
betts+yarran - dangerous small forwards
waite - great first game back from knee
bower/russell - excellent games in the backhalf

- I thought Henderson has a cracking first quarter then all but disappeared. It almost felt like in the last 10 minutes of each quarter the only ball getters were Carrazzo and Thornton. Felt like half the team really faded out in the last half of each quarter. Against a better side that would really have hurt us.

- Warnock will be awesome, but I wish he would actually tap it to one of our players rather than to space where there is a contest.

- There were periods of awesome fluidity, and yet there were periods of messiness. Against a better team we would've been found wanting. Simple skill errors can cost us.

- The fact that we've got players like Judd, Armfield, Hadley, Hampson etc all up our sleeve is brilliant.

- Why wasn't Judd in the change rooms after the game? Surely the boys would've loved seeing him in there to sing the song with yes?

- I could'nt help but notice the absolute joy written all over McLean's face after the game.

I learnt something new.
Paul Bower is a left footer.

(well, according to Tim Lane, he is)

Get some glasses. He was in the rooms - but you dont sing the song when you havent been involved.

Difficult to get past just how bad Richmond were.

That said, some great signs last night. The players I was hoping for improvement from showed they've prgressed. The challenge now is to show the same poise against teams who won't allow such an easy ride.

Yarran.... he's just one of those players who looks like he's barely moving but he always has time and space. I can't a player who puts such perfect weight on his kicks (maybe D Jarman??). That pass to Betts almost looked like it dropped into his hands.

I'm so happy for Russell. He must be feeling so good to be playing the way he is.

I think Murph has taken another step. Just about every decision he made last night was the right one and he executed accordingly. That little 10m chip he bounced around the corner on the members wing was sublime.

What a game from waite as a comeback. Couldn't have scripted that first minute any better.

I could go on..

Shane Edwards would surely have to be looked at for delivering a hip and shoulder to the head of a Carlton player who was in a headlock.

Just worried about Jamo's shoulder. Laid a punch in a marking contest on the wing and reached for his shoulder straight away.
Looks like it will always be vulnerable.

Overall though, we should've pumped them by more than last years margin of 83. The umps and us dropping off let them back in the game. We should improve from here!

Don't think anyone has mentioned the rapport between Betts and Yarran. Talk about the two of them always on the lookout for each other. Yarran especially. Plus, loved the goal Yarran kicked Punt Rd. end, streaming in full pace with Eddie looking like he was going to mark in the goalsquare and pulling his hands away at the last second. Classic stuff.

Saw it live and it was fantastic. TV was great but not as good. Interesting discussion between Walls and Lloyd though. Walls asked Lloyd if he would have let the ball go through, which was bisecting the goal posts incidentally, or mark with the excuse he wasn't sure where the goal/point posts were? Lloyd as the team man we all know he was said he would have marked it.

Actually I think it's been mentioned quite a lot. Either way, it looks like Eddie's been given that final kick up the arse he's needed for years and we may yet see the best of him. No doubt seeing Eddie's transformation up close would do wonders for Yarran's confidence and hopefully they continue to be a lethal duo. Get a few more kgs on Garlett and you've got the makings of a mosquito fleet. I am one that feels there is definitely room for all three, as they all have their own styles.

Do we have to bring this crap up? Again and again and again???

It's more juvenile and inappropriate than the negativity itself...

marci, Ratts mentioned that taking him off was just a precaution and that Jamo is fine as is his shoulder.

The backline looks settled. The kick-outs do not.

What was wrong with our kicking out last night?

I didn't think the boys did too badly in that department. I thought they moved it out from the goal square pretty well overall and didn't look like the ball would get turned over.

Unless I missed something?
