How do you all reckon it will go with waite's blind punch in the 1st?

All comes down to whether they see it as negligent, or reckless.

If negligent, just points; if reckless, 1 match.

Been telling everyone at work all day that the whole dynamics change when a guy like Fevola leaves a team. Spread the load, just like the Cats....simple. Yaz a genuine class act with massive upside :smoking:

Geez it was refreshing with no one being triple teamed !!!. And what about all those footy experts having Carlton as the likely dissapointment of the year. Why ? just because we lose a Goose like Fev ? And they get paid for their opinions :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

Warnock covered a LOT of territory and was excellent in his first game for ages. Bower and Russell so dependable now, and McLean was excellent. Murph going at 80% but miles better than that mob. And I just smiled every time Waitey got the pill

Season starts next week, as Bitchmond are where we were 4 years ago but only worse. Fingers crossed for Waite, and would love to have Juddy back, as Brissy at the Gabba is just about the toughest gig in town right now ?

I don't know about that. I don't think Brissy are anything special, Fev or no Fev. Not saying we're necessarily going to win, but we've got some chance. Much rather play that fixture than Adelaide in Adelaide....or even Sydney in Sydney...

Really loved what I saw. Imagine when we get Judd back

Granted it was only Richmond, however, credit where it is due, the boys played very well tonight. When Richmond drew within 10 points in the 2nd I think it was, it was fantastic to see the Blues respond by only allowing them another 5 goals for the rest of the game. A very unusual sight to see multiple blokes with bags of 2 and 3 for us, but it's a sight I loved seeing tonight and one I look forward to seeing all year

I think Brissy are a while away from hitting their straps. Their pre-season has been quite a slow progression, to be honest. Happy to play them up there next week, rather than later on in the season.

Great game for a Carlton fan, and possibly the neutrals. Was a bit miffed by our tendencies to overcommit to contests yet again, but it is slowly disappearing from our game. We don't take our time clearing from HB these days, but we regularly take too much time from kick-ins. That first 35 metres seems to be the worst for us and we need to work ways to present through zones.

Work rate dropped away at times and this hurt us a lot. Forced the holding up of the ball at times to encourage team mates to present. Perhaps a scaling up of the work rate of those presenting at kick-ins would help out such matters.

Really happy with the screens and dummy leads up forward and moving into the forward 50, we cut swathes in Richmond's defensive zones. I'm happy with the way our forwards competed in the 1-on-1s because Richmond have a decent defensive unit. Would have have liked to have seen about 3 or 4 ins for the Tigers to get them towards full strength (Cotchin, Foley & one of Rance, Polak or Post come to mind), but we'll get another go at them.

Looking forward to some of the loons through the pre-season (both here and elsewhere) coming to terms with their paranoid delusions. Welcome back to reality; we're good enough for the 8.

Yep. Richmond are wooden spoon contenders, and won't have the luxury of good draft picks.

I know you can only play the team in front of you, but we're really going to have to lift to beat the teams that were above us last season.

I'm sure the lads are well aware of this.

The Tigers are about 3 to 4 drafts from competitive.
Next week will be the real test.

From this game:

Kruezer is a MASSIVELY important player and expected to do the ridiculous. Fortunately he does just that.
McClean was a great pick-up and will give the midfield a hard edge.
The backline looks settled. The kick-outs do not.

Warnock was hatched somewhere around the Jurassic period.

(I just mean he's ridiculously tall).

Handy ruckman too.

Certain regular posters must be feeling awkward waiting for our first loss / bad performance, so they can demand the sacking of the coach and all those 95 cronies. Would be real fun if they have to wait a few weeks........

Talking about bets. My bro and I, and families are holidaying this week leading up to the game. He is mad Richmond and I of course love my Blues.

I have been pestering him for the last 2 months and finally got confirmation.

Whichever team wins on Thursday night, and the Blues will of course, his 18 month child, HAS to go for that team for the rest of his life.

Go Blues.

P.S. The 18 month child all ready has more teeth than the usual tigger, including his father.

Only change for next week, Anderson out. VERY average footballer against weak opposition. Hope Armfield is right.
