Result = 2 goals to the Swans

Agree......thought it let the Swans off the hook and allowed them to counterattack and those couple of goals gave them hope.
Geelong would have attacked and crushed their opposition......

Two goals in time-on through eight quarters? Oh no

Two goals in four, actually. Norf were never going to sneak one in last week the way they were playing.

And it shouldn't ever happen, but has been an epidemic at our club for too long.

*BUMP*

Late in the 2nd qtr last night I was concerned. We were starting to look a bit flat/tired, and the Tigers had scored a couple on the trot. I was worried we might go into half-time <20 points up. Our 2 late goals aaginst the tide were priceless.

We still seem to have trouble with the 'tempo' thing late in quarters. I do a Picard-facepalm everytime one of our boys holds the ball aloft, and nearly everytime we cough up a score, or at least turn it over. Thankfully the tigers were so inept they could only really capitalise once for the whole game.

Why do we assume that the holding the ball up means slowing the pace?

It could mean something completely different but only known to the players and MC.

Something to think about.

We're calling for tempo too early from a traditional tactical stand-point... I think the signal may actually be coming from the performance management team.

My other theory is that we were trialling it under the weak pressure the Tigers were offering.

I would be worried if this were happening two or three times EVERY game and while we were defending inconsistently throughout the game, but that's not what's happening. This is just nitpicking.

Damn this girl’s switched on. I’ve little doubt the signal meant something else last night, it was clearly used at times when we continued to attack. A couple of times it seemed to signal “I have no options to kick to, get on your bikes”.

Thought about it; no.

If the game opens up only an idiot wouldn't take hold of that opportunity. That's what we did late in the first half. Then, once you're in or around 50 with clean possession you might as well have a ping.

I know it's only a fantasy, but oh how I wish this will be the last time this thread will need bumping this year

Was it Thornton in the 1st who held the ball aloft with 12 mins to go?

So you fell for his bluff, just like Richmond?

Usually holding the ball aloft indicates the team with the ball will try to chip it around, maintain possession, and run down the clock.

This time Thornton held the ball aloft, then proceeded to thump it long down the line. He was just bluffing.

And then Richmond got back into the game, haha. There wasn't quite 12 min to go in the qtr, mind, more like 5 mins IIRC.

Either way, it would be nice if we could work on being relentless and unforgiving when we are the better team.

Well I didn't say it worked!

Just that this time it wasn't a signal to start chip, chip, chipping.

I thought when they held the ball up it meant go and get another drink.

A touch arrogant, but it kept me liquored up.

It was only Richmond.
