It's like they didn't watch last season. You can't play Thornton, Bower, Waite and Jamison in the same backline - not enough run.

Ratts is an astute coach so I'm sure by about round 12 he'll have figured this out (again).

..well, Waite likes to have a run.. ..Bower thinks he's a greyhound.. ..and yer got Joseph and Russell that will also provide plenty of run..

Oh look, on paper there is some run there. But that's just not how it actually played last season. In your mind it is Waite and Bower bursting of HB with damaging attacking runs, when in reality it is mostly Thorton ambling out with the ball and then chipping 15m sidesways to a stationary Bower.

For the most part, we played better football last season after Waite went down, and we had to 'make do' with Jamison, Thornton and Bower in defence, with O'hailpin the swingman. You could argue we were better still when it was reduced to just Thornton and Bower in the defensive KPs (notwithstanding Bradshaw's last quarter heroics in the final).

If Krezuer goes to the Ruck, Waite goes to full fowrward, Warnock goes to the bench and Anderson goes to HB, then it starts to look realistic. But then why not just name the side like that? Who are we trying to fool? Unless it's to pretend that Warnock is our no.1 ruck to fulfil some promise we made to get him to leave Freo.

Strange post Crawler. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet before the first game of the season has even started.

Most of us agree we only need 2 or sometimes 3 talls in defense but i doubt a team has lined up as selected once in the last 50 years.

How long are we going to persist with this totally over-rated first round draft pick??????

He must have pictures of the match committee with small animals or something.

This great club will never move forward while second rate hacks like this keep getting a game...........

well some tool had to say it.........

Edit for accuracy.

It still amazes me how the list of Selection Experts just keeps growing. And with some very insightful comments. :screwy:

But everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I tend to post less these days as the fits of laughter i get from reading some posts just overwhelms me. :donk: :donk:

Hmm, you are right. I will chill out and enjoy the start of the season instead. I retract my rants.

I hope they're going to give Ando a decent run at it. I have question marks over him. But I'd like him to get the next 4 weeks at senior level.

Anderson can consider himself lucky but then again he may surprise us. He has great endurance and a throws his body hard at the contest which would be a perfect fit playing as a half back on Deledio. I dont want to see Walker play a negating role this year. Walker would be a perfect match for Deledio but this year he needs to stamp his own authority and move on from his run with roles at the club to becoming an opposition target.

A great article with Maclure. Agree with all of his points. It only goes south when Mark Robinson offers his view. His ascertion that OhAilpin must play a "high" role is flawed IMO. Carlos can easily play out of the square which allow Henderson to play as the high leading option.
A role he's much better suited to at this stage of his development.

Agree BV. I'm hoping Carlos gets a good run inside the 50m arc. He's always had an instinct for goal (how many snaps and soccered goals has he scored for a big man?). He creates a contest and can create pressure on the ground too. He won't ever be an 100 a year goalkicker but I can see him playing a role if he's given a good run at it this year as part of a 5 or 6 man setup with a bit of delivery going his way.

No Hammer or Hadley....bit disappointed but I can only assume the match committee knows what it is doing, although some of their selections last year were even more questionable.

Think some of u ppl underrate Ando. Under Pagan he was doing good until he went down with an injury and since hasn't been able to crack into the side. He plays with valor and likes to kick the ball long to our advantage. Too bad he won't be given the same opportunities that Russell had that was an all season pass regardless of how many goals hia opponent kicked & how many clangers he had.

Re andersen when a guy has been on the list 3 years and has done well in the practice matches, you pick him because his time is now. The MC has to make a call on his position on the list early

The team as selected looks very impressive, should blows the tiggers out off the field.

Four goal win
