With Judd being out AND not traded to Carlton, we could have had Kennedy and Masten in this week in our top 18.

I think the trade is going to be even this year and the Judd trade will start to benefit WC more as the years go on.

No shit. Of course it will. Judd is older than Kennedy. When Judd retires, WC will be benfitting more I'd say.

Even more so given we would've finished last and last in 2008 and 2009.

WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

Why the hell would a) Judd leave West Coast and 2) choose us?

Anyone know how ticket sales are going?
I was intending to just turn up on the night.

That will be fine, shouldn't have any problems showing up on the night and getting a ticket.

With everything that has happened in the offseason, my most prominent emotion has been anxiety. Think I've mentioned this on this site a couple of times. Just how will we go this year?

Whilst I don't put a lot of weight on external expectations and 'expert' analysis, I must admit I am getting sick of the general expectation that we will slide this year.

So now my anxiety has been replaced with frustation and anger lol. Let's prove all these flowers wrong, starting on Thursday.

If you have any trouble just rock up tell them you're a Richmond fan & that you have box seats.

I cannot believe there are people that actually think we shouldn't have traded for Judd. Juddy SAVED Carlton, straight up. The club couldn't have had another year as a complete and utter rabble and you know that, he brought members and respect back to Carlton and undoubtedly aided the development of what is becoming one of the AFL's premier midfield groups...

anyway.. I'm worried about this game, but mainly because Richmond are SO BAD and if we lose all hopes for a good season are dashed.

Much prefer to se us with Warnock in the team before Hampson. Has a better football brain and has better skills. Just needs to stay fit.

Yarran to be the x factor this year, better body and had a sniff last year and now understands what is expected.

Armfield - Jamison - Thornton
Scotland - Bower - Russell
Simpson - McLean - Houlihan
Walker - Henderson - Yarran
Betts - O'Hailpin - Carazzo

Kreuzer - Gibbs - Joseph

Murphy - Warnock - Waite - Robinson

Although that does include 3 blokes who might be considered underdone.
If the statement hadn't been made that they will, I'd be inclined to keep Murphy, Waite and Army back a week.
With that in mind you'd have to consider Grigg or Lucas (to get the debut out of the way and give the young man a taste) as Murphy's replacement, Garlett as Waite's and perhaps... Anderson as Armfield's?
You wouldn't lose too much pace out of the side that way...

It is nice to look down the list and see blokes you'd like to include - like Hampson, Lucas, Grigg, Hadley, Garlett, etc. but have no room for.

I'd swap McLean for Hadley. He isn't in form yet

Carrots in the forward pocket?

Defensive forward - he plays that role well.
When Murphy comes on he goes to the flank, Yarran drops deeper and Carrots can have a spell on the ball to relieve McLean.

You gotta be kidding right? Kennedy will be a good player and he was one of my favorites at Carlton but he has taken a lifetime to come along. Without Judd we would have struggled to be competitive and the development of Murphy and Gibbs would not have been accelerated as it has. To say we could have Masten is one massive joke. History will show he should not have been a number three pick. We don't need a Masten in our team.

But I suppose you're right we will be worse off eventually when Judd retires before Kennedy. Fev will retire before Henderson and Lucas... and we've been ridiculed by some for that trade... funny how people see things hey?

I dont see what all the fuss is about with Kennedy. I was a fan but he sure as hell didn't show anymore than Hendo is at the moment and we essentially have replaced Josh with Lachlan who is younger

And going to be a better player IMHO.........I think Hendo shows a more intelligence as a football ie: positioning his body, knowing when to lead.....And he's a nice thumping kick.

Can't wait to see him in action on Thursday.

ratts again confirmed tonight on 3AW that hendo will play on thursday, and will do so as a forward.

was asked if setanta would be a certain starter and while not answering directly strongly inferred that setanta will also run out thursday night. ratten said that setanta, along with betts and robinson, had been the standout performers during pre-season.
