Grigg deserves his chance. Scotto may be the player struggling to hold his spot IMO. He has lost a yard and seemed to struggle a little at times last year.......quote]

I think you've missed a fair few reports regarding Scotland this year.

Super fit and strong.
Full preseason.
Skilled aon both sides and been one of our best consistenly in the NAB thus far.
Probably one of the top 5 based on form.
He'll be in the first 18 no doubt.

But if you just don't like him...you don't like him.

Definitely looking forward to the game. Can't wait for waite to return, looking forward to Warnock and henderson debuting and I have some hopes, despite the concerns of so many TCers, for Yarran this year. I am looking forward to seeing his development.
One question, trying to get tickets and the ticketek website is absolutely useless. Is the game on sale yet??????
The website has info re: tickets on sale this morning and yet there is no link that I can see.

I wonder what the coaches are thinking of Carrazzo. When I put my best 22 team on paper I dont know if he gets in or if Grigg gets the spot.

at this stage carrots is way ahead of grigg in the 22. Grigg has not proven he can accumulate possession, negate his opponent, use the footy constructively etc etc. I would have hoped that he would be set to step up by now and he still might. But based on his game against the swans and everything last year he is in need of a good year imo or else he might be shopped.

..Carrots easily, had an injury interrupted run of games and yet still had a pretty good season when he played.. ..extremely versatile type..

I thought about that change and also Houlihan for Robinson, problem is I love both Browne and Robinson's unquestionable courage and hardness at a contest. In fact in Browne, Bower and T-Bird we have 3 defenders who have no fear backing into packs or cutting off leads, it comes naturally to them.

I would have Armfield in ahead of Browne for that hard at it back flanker/pocket. With Armfield injured maybe the coaches will choose to play him in that role. However, I think with Russell, Joseph and Walker back in the side we have plenty of aggression. Browne might find it hard to find a spot because he has not yet defined his position but I do like the kid.

Houlihan in for Grigg IMO. Could make a case for Hadley in for Robinson as well. We're inevitably going to be slightly top-heavy at this stage.

Houla for Grigg for mine.

Don't think Army has given himself a good chance to play Rnd 1 due to injury.

Yarran and Robbo are damn close to selection. I like Hammer for a spot too. Can't fit em all in.

I reckon Hampson has to fight Ohailpin for a spot in the team. If Hampson can start proving himself up forward and become a forward before a ruckman then I think he gets in. However because Ohailpin has shown more as forward and has better forward pressure skills as well as being able to pinch hit in the ruck, he becomes more versatile and gets the gig.

Hampsons problem is that he seems to be a good ruckman but nothing else and has to deal with Warnock and Kreuzer ahead of him. Unless one of those guys gets injured or lose form than I can't see Hammer in the side at this stage as a ruckman.

I can if he learns to mark and kick, which would probably also help his forward skills. ;)

I'd play Houlihan at HB in place of Brown and Hadley in for Grigg

My question is around applicablility to the opposition. Who will mak the following?;
Cousins:Walker? or better in the forward line? Russell? (they need to have run, disciplie and muscle)
Delidio:Russell? Walker? as above Grigg?
Tambling:AJ

I like carrots as a defensive player as he is disciplined but I don't know if he has the footspeed to run with these three. Still think he should be in the side tho'.

I think we are right for height in the back line but they have a few talls down there. Post in particular worried us last time.

AJ can take Cousins.

Gibbs played Deledio head to head last year and won both contests.

If we need to tag anyone else we have serious problems in the coaching box.

My round one team (assuming scotland is out injured)

B: Joseph, Jamison, Thornton
HB: Russell, Bower, Davies
C: Walker, Murphy, Simpson
HF: Robinson, Henderson, Yarran
F: Betts, Waite, houlihan

RCK: Kreuzer, Gibbs Hadley/Mclean

INT: Carazzo*, O'Hailpin, Walker, Warnock

*possibly bring garlett in for carazzo but match committee unlikely to go that way.
