Thanks for the tweets and the post match report Gro. Great summation! I think the player I'm most excited about his year is gonna be M Davies. I reckon this boy can play a bit.

Thanks to all the game reporters. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Shame it was a disappointing game for the WA faithful.

Anyone else find it odd that Waite was played in defence? Perhaps part of the rehab plan (theory being less twist and turn in defence?)

I wondered the same thing blue in the face. That said, I've heard coaches of other teams say when bringing a player back from a knee injury that they put said player in defence so he could run straight ahead at the ball. Maybe that was the reason for Waite in defence. Just a guess though.

Fantastic that Waitey and Murphy got a gallop under their belts and great to see all the youngsters get some experience.

The disposal skills of the senior players is a worry. Can it dramatically improve in 3 weeks? It'll need to!

Not much difference between Walker and Anderson IMO other than their draft numbers. Both attacking runners with courage who love a good scrap but lack consistency with their finishing skills. Walks has had 3 more years development time than Joey though.

White and Donaldson continue to impress which is great to read.

Thanks to our WA reporters

Thanks to all the guys for their observations, a great read for us.

Sad to lose any game, but it really is all a bit "meh".....bring on the real stuff!

Fantastic report.

Coffee man and yibbida.................well done fellas  great to read your views.
Give us some more now that you've had time to recount the day's event.

Great that there's no injuries.
Great to give the kids exposure and put some supporters out of their misery and their dreaming of Casboult and Kerr.
Great news about White...and Donalson.

Have to remember that Waite and Murph are back unscathed.
Missing from our line up were more than AAP cared to mention:
Kreuzer, Gibbs, Thornton, Bower, Henderson, McLean, Carrazzo, Robinson, Yarran, Armfield, with Austin on th sidelines.
That's a fair wack out of our first 22.

Well done to all Bluebaggers.

PS: This was a practise game. Murphy will not take his boots off whilst the game is still on in the H&A or finals (like Fev did), Casboult wont be our go to man, and Jamo wont be spoiling his fellow backmen.

dont forget JR and AJ

Come on BV, you know as everyone else does that Grigg is more than capable at getting his own ball, but his kicking is woeful...yes for AFL level, woeful....Beaumont was a better left foot kick than Grigg, and I was not a Beaumont fan (just happy we had him in the dark ages). Anderson has had question marks on his disposal from day 1. Against the Swans a simple short pass to the leading forward from Anderson went out of bounds on a full, over the head of lead.

Walker isn't as bad as that. And, Walker can create space and time with his pace and poise to give himself time to execute a kick when he has to...similarly to how Armfield adjusted in the second half. Grigg and poise do not belong in the same sentence.

I understaood what you meant Grro...keep up the bad work.

Bondi what about JR and AJ mate?

flower hell....what's wrong with me...I pride myself on knowing the list like the back of my hand........sorry JR...sorry AJ...sorry Mr & Mrs Russell in Adelaide, and finally sorry to Mr & Mrs Joseph in Tasmania.

That's 12 missing today from my first 22.

Thanks Jez1966

I don't think Grigg's kicking is much of a problem as is his lack of football smarts and composure.

As others have noted, he often just belts the ball forward seemingly without any kind of thought process at all. He often looks panicked/rushed when he kicks the ball, which obviously impacts on the execution of the kick.

Mmmmmm........perhaps that is the case. Good point Blues 2005.

I really hope Grigg gets it all together because his ball winning ability and aggression is priceless.....just the kicking is a liability.....imo

It would seem the papers are the same, according to the HUN and the Age, the Weagles were missing 4 senior players but apparently Carlton was only missing Gibbs, Kruez and Brock....

Its really hard to read too much out of practise matches.

As the coaches are trying out new things with new players and trying out older players in new positions and changes to gameplan.

I think its a good thing that we don't win every practise match.

Shows that they are trying new things, playing the young kids and trying new things to see what works and doesn't

If we really wanted to win a practise game we would play our best 22

Bring on Round 1

Thanks to all for the match reports.
Good to get through the game unscathed. Unlike a couple of clubs in Hawthorn and Melbourne who had a couple of bad injuries each.
