Interesting article in the HUN (believe it or not) from Jon Ralph

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/blues ... 5837183899

Quote:
STEPHEN Kernahan is not prone to displays of affection, but if he hasn't stormed into Greg Swann's office this week and hugged him it is still not too late.

Quote:
If Swann was an AFL player, you would say he was in white-hot form.

Seven days ago on SEN radio, he casually revealed that 90 AFL players (there are 114) had third-party agreements.

Having lobbed the grenade, he sat back and watched the fallout. Suddenly an issue that had focused solely on Chris Judd, Carlton and Visy was conveniently widened to include Gary Ablett and the rest of the competition.

As far as strategic leaks go, it was masterful.

This latest epidsode would've definately shut the mouths of the pro Fev supporters once and for all...

Oh I dunno, a few people I've spoken too are all "She shouldn't have been rooting a married bloke anyway", and "Won't the media give Fev a break?"

And the response to that would be:

"No the media will not give Fev or Carlton a break. You all know that. So where to from here?
Do you think we are lucky/ better off that we don't have to face the Bingle affair again?"

If the answer is No, and we a better off with Fev and all the baggage which comes with that, then those supporters do not understand what that would do to a brand. In a nutshell, we'd have continued erosion of the brand.

SO glad Fev played that NAB Challenge match against us. Because if he didn't, the media wouldn't have a good shot of him in Lions gear, and half those images in the paper this week would've been Fev sullying the Carlton jumper again.

Seems like we are enjoying the post-coital cigarette more than Fev could have ever imagined.

Very back handed indeed. Who does Ralph support anyway?

I think that's being a little touchy. The media works with narratives. The narrative changes, but it is gradual. I think Ralph has worked a change to the story to reflect the changing reality, but in the context of what's gone before.

No problem with this article, but I haven't bought into the conspiracy theory of the comic book being against us anyway: we just kept giving them fodder, and they gleefully ran with it.

But when considering our pre-season, we have had a fairly low profile compared with other Melbourne clubs, and that's cool with me.

No, there's definitely something fishy here. But then again, maybe we've just grown cynical because of all the shit we endure in the papers every time we're mentioned.

But one thing you have to say, is that not only would this shut up the Fev-apologists, but specifically those that would've kept him instead of Swann and thought he was more important to the club (and there were a lot of them). Egads, that's backing the wrong horse f'sure.

That pretty much sums it up John.

isnt it funny though how Fevs in trouble again yet strangely this is the first time his football team (Brisbane Lions) haven't been directly co-accused or been ethically interrogated like every other time he got himself in trouble. !!!!!!!!!!

Not really. Brisbane can't be blamed for things he did while he was employed by another club.

There's plenty of bias in the media that go against Carlton without having to invent things.

No, but Brisbane can be held accountable for their decision to recruit him. The Saints are being held to account for trading for Lovett.

They're being held to account not for his actions but for the monumental stuff up that was their trade week. Fev will play plenty of footy for Brisbane, Lovetts career is over before he even managed a single game for the saints.
