Unbiased Objectivity we all come here for.

There is a reason why clubs do skills training multiple times a week, before and throughout the season...how many has Walker missed in the entirety of his career. Give him a !@#$%& break!

Dude dont take it to heart - Have a look at the cause of all you angst - Rhys26 - What a username to choose to come here and spout criticism of people/players - The real Rhys was one of my all time favourite footballers (regards of club) period - but christ he was so far from being the ideal footballer you could get - God his nickname was Brownlow - how many would he have one had he applied himself like Walkers does.

Finally people come here and rant and rave about disposal etc - the game is so fast now that the old blokes we all love whose great disposal we reminiss about wouldnt be so bloody good in this day and age.

I started to make a reply but went of track as usual and though better for once and created an entirely new thread :yikes:

This site has become so unwhat I thought it was about - People from interstate and also local to Melb used to love coming on here and being feb information that was outside the rubbish that the media portrays/reports. Its now become a place where some posters only thrive in negativity and others postivity - alot of the objection has gone and has been replaced by emotion.

It may be a sign that we are improving and some arnt happy with the rate but it sure as hell makes this place a funny place to be.

Win we have all the happy people out in force bagging the negative people.

Loose we have the negative people talking rotting fish and how everything stinks.

The only constant seems to be the 50% of us who are glass half full who love the club like us all but prefer to look for the positives - however we seen to be alienated from the"true :banghead: " supporters who remind us that we live in lala land.

The problem is that 50% who some say arnt living in the real world is disappearing fast from this site.

I live in the real world and I know that things arnt all that well at the club especially given the way they treated us here in Sydney recently - Synbad alluded to the club doing something here when we had a bit of a go at the lack of percieved respect we got - Well please tell me what did the club do other than fly in and fly out (oh and start training 30 minutes ahead of the published time).

What Im trying to say is it possible for even a week or two the supporters who are in the know and are overly positive and those in the know that are overly negative to come on a post/talk/inform without the emotion and give us lest fortunate a short return to the dark old days when whilst all looked completely bleak this site (and the unnamed) gave us all some hope.

Synbad, please come here and post something you see that is postive - forget Sticks and Ratts - tell us a tid bit that we wouldnt know but would enjoy.

Cazz - Come here and tell us what you really think - hopefully about a future gun - rather than fell compelled to defend.

DOA - Come back and give us an insight that we cant get elsewhere - You are the biggest dissapointment to me - Surely you know that some here will never be satisfied yet most love and want Andy to succeed given he was our first real bright light and just becuase of how he applies himself - people remember his first game but I remember the Bris game two years ago when he crashed and smashed packs and we came from nowhere and my daughter had the biggest smile on her face at the end of the game you could imagine.

As I said is it possible for just a short time for everyone to put aside the agendas and give the rest of us who crave information we come here for?

I defend but in defending I also attempt to back up my posts with some logical education and explanation about why things may or may not be happening.

A classic example was mentioned by club29 in a post on the 'post game' thread. He mentioned that supporters were bitching and moaning about the Blues going on to play some tempo football near the end of the quarters. I had more complainers sitting next to me. :banghead: :banghead:

These people are just uninformed fools. If the Club can't practice 'Tempo football' against real opposition in a 'Practice Game' when the #@$%& can they practice it.

If Ratts can't play players in different positions during a Practice game when can he.

If Ratts can't rotate his onballers under different structures during a Practice game when can he.

If Ratts and his fitness staff can't play players for specific time periods during a Practice game when can they.

A smart man said the following to me before last nights game.....................

The 1st practice game was cancelled. The 2nd was soft as butter as no-one wanted to get injured. They sat around in NSW for 2 days. They played a top heavy team with some 1st yr kids to try things. They played a strangling/smoothering Swans team without their go to man in Fev and they still only lost by under two gls.

I understand supporters want to win every quarter of every game by 10gls but these are the same supporters who have no grip on the realities of AFL Clubs in the Practice Game arena. Even so call qualified and experienced commentators have shown themselves to be brain dead this past week with their uninformed comments.

Practice Games are not for 4 points. Paul Roos has been one of the best Coaches in the AFL since taking over and he won his 1st NAB cup game of his career last week. Hasn't seemed to have done him much harm.

Hear, hear ... objectivity and balanced posting is what the mods want from the users. We all love a good rant after a loss, or a good sugar coating after some good news. Trouble is the ranters and the sugar coaters do tend to cancel each other out.

So many jibes are made every week in terms of "TC won't be so bad this week" or "TC will be horrible this week", it would be nice if ALL posters could take it upon themselves to play their individual roles in helping to bring balanced objectivity with what they are saying.

There are a few posters now that I rarely take the time to read any more because they've become so obvious and tiring that any valid points made are just lost in the scatter gun approach.

I am also aware that the foe list is getting quite a good workout by a number of users of the site. That in itself is not so bad, given that it might save the mods some work, but it's also a sign that the signal to noise ratio is out of whack.

Anyway, that's probably enough from me, let's just all do our part to ensure TC is a great place to be.

Great thread Mark.

This forum is dear to our heart, especially for us interstaters.

Things can only get better I guess,

Cazz and camel...thanks for the good posts too.

Now lets enjoy the kids growing right before our eyes.
I'm expecting big things in the 2nd half of 2010.

I agree with Camel that "good rants and good sugar coating" are what adds to the texture and variety of a site such as TC. Nothing would be worse than bland homogeneity. With 2911 current members of TC, 42 new in 2010, you take the good with the bad, the outrageous with the reasonable, the informed with the ignorant. A young supporter providing a training report is just as valuable in many ways as a club insider.

I was a frequent contributor to the old Blue View and went several years observing but not posting on TC before saddling back up again in late 2009. At a Carlton Best and Fairest several years ago I sat at a table with a number of people who also posted on Carlton forums that I had never met before. My wife was seated beside me and said "These are the people you chat to on line about foootball, they're all nuff nuffs, I hope this puts things in perspective for you". However, football has always been the great leveller, crossing socio-economic, educational and cultural boundaries. The one thing we all had in common that night was a love for Carlton, and I had a great time talking to people with whom I would normally never socialise.

I note that of the 42 new members in 2010, only 5 have posted anything. Sure we want considered posts, but please dont scare off newbies (especially young supporters)who all have something to offer. Far and away the most significant insights about Carlton I have ever read have come from this site, sometimes from unexpected sources. As long as its passionate, considered and not disrespectful, I think we should encourage and celebrate dissent.
