Guys

I have been having troubles with CCTV and someone kindly helped me out, and I was able to learn that the club website is blocking my IP address.

I have been emailing the club and leaving messages for the guy incharge of the website and they refuse to call me back.

I just rang the club and blasted them, and told they how dare they treat a long time member like this.

She would not refer me to anyone else.

What advice does anyone have to get through the someone. ?

Bitch about it on talkback radio? That usually seems to get a quick response from football clubs.

I reckon you should write him a letter. His emails would be screened and I'd bet a complaint probably doesn't make it through. But a nicely written letter is an unusual (and respectful) thing to receive these days. You just never know.

ps - it's Swann.

The club just sent me an email telling me to fill in a questionnaire/feedback survey to Telstra Bigpond and have just palmed me off.

Needless to say I am extremely pissed off by now.

I sent them an email back and told them not to palm me off and they are Bigpond customers and I am not, and to follow up themselves.

I also sent Greg an email, but doubt he would get back to me.

Not sure what else to do now.

Did anyone actually read the address given for Swann's email.

Drewgirl, the club are right that Telstra need to sort it out, but it should be them doing so as you have claimed issue through their site. Very lazy support on their part and indicative of the service levels of many call centres/phone operators in this day and age. Probably doesn't help that many people call with complaints and an angry tone, but that's another debate altogether (you have every right to be cross though).

In the mean time, the club does have a youtube channel here. That definitely works, but has only been up for a couple of months and thus only contains more recent content (and no game highlights from games that have broadcast rights assigned). It sometimes lags behind the site version, but it's definitely a less taxing page than the club's one.

I am at work and am on the phone to Bigpond right now. Been on the phone for ages, and they cant understand why I am calling them as I am not their customer.

I dont know why my IP address has been blocked, it is weird.

Thanks for all your help !!

I am not sure I will get this sorted the way I am going though.

I personally think you should calm down. The club has not done this on purpose, there could be a thousand reasons why its occured. it really is no big deal and im sure it will work for you again. Give the club a break

They're not blocking her address. They're blocking any non-Australian listed IP.

There's a set of registrar services that is set up to allow companies to identify local and foreign IP addresses to deny global syndication of content, in this case: AFL-related footage. What's happened here is that drewgirl's IP is somewhat newly registered, and hasn't been tacked onto an Australian 'whitelist' yet.

Further to this drewgirl, you might need to contact TPG (your ISP IIRC) as if the fault isn't with Telstra's whitelist, it's with their slow efforts to have your IP properly added to geolocation listings.

Jimmae

Thats interesting. I will contact TPG again.

I have given up now with Bigpond and the club as I was not getting anywhere.

Again, Thanks guys. I usually have no idea about these types of things.

Besides, as we all know, Telstra have a lot on their plate.

The staff do; the board can go and get stuffed. ISPs get the finger when they want exchange access half the time.

Doesn't help that a good chunk of their call centres are now out-sourced. Continues to sour the company that is effectively the crowning jewel of this country's telecommunications. They need to be broken apart and quickly. That's what I was trying to get at way back when. Sol was a moron. :P
