Few questions for those better equipped. ahem.

Why has Robert Harvey so important that his name adorns the players lounge?
Why are some of the dumbells/weights red and yellow and etc and not navy blue? That wouldn't happen at a well managed club.

Have a question of my own from one of the pics:

Why are there blokes in the audience in a Women of Carlton Night?

Good question, not sure why blokes attend this supposed female event.

It would be nice to have an event that is just women for a change, but they dont discriminate I suppose.

No they don't, because that would defeat the silent battle against anti-feminism... I went to an event two years ago I think it was. Blokes definitely stick out like a sore thumb, but it's not sacrilege, although try telling that to some of the players.

I like them, and they're going to last a lot longer than the old ones. Good choice in that respect.

I'm about to be faced with a similar problem.

My 10 year old daughter wants to go in the Mother's Day fun run, the Good Lady Wife hates running and has a netball injury anyway, so she's out.

I'm considering going in her place, wearing a t-shirt that says STAND-IN MUM.

But yeah... why would a guy go to a Women of Carlton event? Even if they can't, technically, stop you... isn't it kind of obvious the women don't really want you there?

They didn't give two shits I was there, actually got peppered with friendly conversation (and on top of that, several members of the group invited me). It's not about the attendance numbers and ratios per se, it's about recognising and supporting the group. It's not a secret wives club, it's a group that celebrate female contributions to the sport and to the club.

Attending should show you're indeed capable of acknowledging that, plus you get a look into parts of the inner sanctum at times (functions at Raheen, facility tours, etc). I'm surprised there aren't more couples or mother/son combinations who attend.

Forgot to touch on this (for what it's worth anyway, only my opinion): run the race. You support your wife in her role as a parent and person, your daughter, all the other mums and send a message to the wider community, even if you feel it's well-established.

Plus I'm sure your daughter would be happy to get to run the race, and laugh about it with her friends. ;)

My husband was there as my Guest, he has been to the last 4.

He doesn't go to many other WoC functions 'cause he always worries about being the only male there, but this is one I like him to go to, as he gets to see the new recruits/rookies and hear what they have to say, (and I don't have to try to memorize what was said -:) ) and this time to go through the new facilities, which he really enjoyed.

He always comments about the friendliness amongs the ladies.

OK, that settles it: I want to be a Woman of Carlton.

As for the race, I'll do it unless my daughter thinks It'll be mega embarrassing to have her dad run with her in a Mum's race. Pre-teenage girls are soooooo easily embarrassed.

I believe there will be a new line of handbags arriving at the CFC shop soon.
