Heyyyy
he's not fat,he's tubby!
and....many people thought it was poor form...
I did..
if you listen to Robbo,he actually is quite fond of Carlton.

Line up here.....
To reenact the stone throwing scene from Life Of Brian if you must.

I dont think it's poor form.
Brett Kirk is a great bloke no doubt but as soon as the siren blows, he scraps, hangs on, blocks, screens and does whatever possible to stop his man getting a kick.
As far as I'm concerned, he breaks the rules of the game and doesn't play it in the spirit some players expect. Brock McLean was quite entitled to not shake his hand. If he doesn't respect the bloke as a "player" fair enough.
I'd be more concerned if he refused to shake his hand when the contest was over.

Smashed?

I'm with BV, there's no reason to shake an opponent's hand before a match.

I can't remember who it was but a couple of years ago when we played Sydney, one of our players went to shake Goodes' hand before the game started. In return, Goodes started shoving him and started a little scuffle. Plus I remember the commentators saying Goodes had every right to refuse the hand shake.

You have absolutely every right to refuse a handshake at the beginning of the game.

This was and is such a non-issue, drummed up first by Tim Lane all night (who should retire) and then ran with today by Robbo.

Obviously the bloke Goodes started shoving wasn't Universally RespectedTM like Brett Kirk apparently is.

One of the most sickening things I've ever seen was when Kirk excused himself from a press conference at the SCG last year to 'gather his thoughts' after being quizzed about Barry Hall. The report then showed a pensive Kirk staring into the distance, collecting himself.

I believe he also went on to say that he didn't know if he could trust Barry Hall around his children.

What a wanker.

Gary Lyon is on record as saying that he wouldnt shake hands with an opponent before a game.

In fact he thought it ludicrous that you would shake someones hand before the game and wish them luck.

He had no problem shaking hands with his opponents after the game.

Not sure if Gary Lyon was still hanging around the Melbourne Football Club when Brock McLean started there - but this is maybe where Brock got this from.

First of all I think Brock should have shaken his hand he didn't. If this is the biggest issue of the week that Robbo is tackling then he surely surely isn't working hard enough. And while we did not play well i hardly think Carlton was smashed!

With due respect, i think Robbo wasn't hanging it on McLean as such he just thought it wasn't a good look. He made mention that its very rare for players to shake hands before a game starts.

Robinson is only doing it as a cheap story given Channel 10 comments during telecast - Tim Lane who is generally ok but sometimes a bit sanctimonious went on for about 5 minutes about it as if Mclean was an axe murderer - get over it - its a professional sport you are supposed to be hard nosed -look at the treatment Fevola got when he was too friendly with his mates in a NAB CUP game against Saints -we got McLean because he has a hard edge so why complain and why doesnt Lane recognise this and rather than say how bad it is -understand why he would do it in the first place
He shook his hand afterwards big deal -no story and Robbo being lazy cant even find his own angle

The b@stards have turned on Adelaide probably for producing Kernahan and Gibbs, in a thinly disguised Collingwood (Jolly is the new Cam Wood) pump up. Poor Crows missed the finals now...

The top three teams for hitout differentials last season were Fremantle, Adelaide and Sydney -- none of which made the final eight."

Bower the Power ?? What planet are they on ? I've never heard anybody refer to Bower like that... Maybe they were standing next to a group of 10 years olds at one of the pre season games, and overheard them refering to Bower like that.....
Mike Sheahen writes that Çarlton are under pressure like no other club in 2010'. What a load of crap!! You're telling me that we're under more pressure to deliver then say the Doggies, Saints or Geelong who are reaching the end of their 'premiership windows'. Or are we under more pressure then the Demons, who've had years of collecting tallented kids through the draft and must start performing now...

They're just leading into their next headlines when Bower is BOG:

Blues turn up the Bower
Bower brilliance downs the Power
Blues Bower surge
