Take a look at the list.

Remove 4 for the fact that 26 players were used instead of the normal 22.

Now remove another 6 to make way for :

Waite, Murphy, Walker, Simpson, Betts, Houlihan.
(I know this might be controversial but they are all in our best starting 22, and should be available come round 1)

That's 10 players from tonight's list gone.

Jacobs, Henderson, Anderson, Mclean, Davies, Fisher, Wiggins, Browne, Garlett, Lucas ????????????

That's a lot that did some but not much. And we would look a LOT better.

Note that of the 6 ins, 5 would be direct improvers on our goal kicking:
Waite (great forward option)
Betts (#2 goalkicker last year?)
Walker (definite option to play and catch the bl00dy thing in the forward line)
Smurph (goalkicking midfielder)
Houlihan (specialist at delivering into the 50)

Things are looking very good in the coming years my friends.

The defence for the first time in about 8 years actually looks quite solid
the mid field looked ok
forward structure needs work but we all know that

Congrats to all who think Ratts cant coach and we are done.

Oh thats right Im from Sydney and would have a @#$%&! clue cause all I do is watch TV and you can never get an appreciation of our game without being there.

Oh - welcome to our world.

Sorry but anyone stupid enough to believe the nay sayers - go and get a life (seeing as im not allowed to suggest anything more drastic).

We played a game without our best side by a mile - Where was Walker, Waite, Murphy, Eddie , Houla, Setanta, Army ,etc etc etc etc etc

Given that before talking players was originally closed most people who thought they new anything thought both Bower and Russell were dead beats and others now thing Yazz is lazu Im glad im living in Sydney and has no idea.

Bower was great - Yarren could have looked like a superstar had he been accurate - Russells disposal is a mile better than it has been in the past.

Cant wait for the real stuff - then we will be putting our best team on the paddock and we wont have to listen to neagtive people.

all teams are playing with players unavailable...

thats why lists have 42 odd and not 22 ...

u knew that didnt you???

but what shouldnt change is how youre attempting to execute instructions.... and gameplans....

stkilda had some really handy players out last night....

but you could still see what they were attemplting to do...

they also had some kids in playing their first senior game... and yet they knew their role too...

last time we played them with fev we scored 55 points?

today without fev we scored 60+ points?

therefore we are already a better side without fev!!

and tim lane, shut the @#$%&! up. the amount of times he mentioned fevola or lack there off was bordering on insane. turned commentary off after the third quarter. i couldnt take anymore!!

Defense: Solid and is forming a nice chemistry ( explains why most of our goals came from them)

Midfield: Absent due to too many players out but never a worry... we have a Solid midfield

Forward: The Real Joke of the Competition. We simply have no Forward line, no Structure and no player capable of kicking any decent Score. Based on today's performace, our midfielders kept running in circle because they had no Target upforward...

Henderson: Average... very average... i doubt he will come it... He is Clueless. doesnt know where to lead and his hands are very sticky... he is good at crushing packs, but it is quite abvious that he is not the Answer to our Forward line... he is a long term Project... Not really ready for AFL

Kruzer : Seriously, this guy is not a Forward.... Like Henderson, he has no Clue where to lead or how to make space and take Strong marks... All he does is sit in the goal line and Create a contest or Crush packs... He is not the Answer to our forward line

Fisher: Rubbish.... he sholuld have been de-listed. I value Cloke more than him

Waite: He is the Only Hope we have left this year, but will he even make it up forward with a Crippled knee?? i am not sure

Small Forwards: Silky, Classy, Fast but when it comes to finishing the job, they are all rusty...

It is still early Days, but i can't see Ratten doing a Miracle for this miserable forward line...This year is going to be a backward Step in order to go forward... We can not make the Finals....

How did you guys get home so early?

I just got in from the game. Beautiful ground....too far away for mine.

Mmmmmmmm. Early days.

Really got fired up because of Browny. Who are his fans again? I was tired of watching him by half time. Then I had to watch more of him. Holy moly!

After that performance I can safely say Brown is not an AFL footballer. No where near it. Geez it wasn't just his kicking which was a problem. He didn't stick to his man, he fumbled a lot and that started straight after the first possession of the game. Look he was very ordinary...along with Wiggo and Grigg needs to improve his foot skills because he is a tough mother and can get the ball. I just don't believe he's going to make it.

McLean was so slow. Didn't man up. He was exposed. WTF? Look there were a loy of players playing below their best: Gibbs couldn't play that ordinarily again....hope not.

I think we have plenty to work with. Playing with our best 22 would be a start. I look forward to watching the TV replay.

Some of the umpiring was so Swans favourable it wasn't funny.

I am not a Fisher fan, but I thought he presented very well in the first half. Bad luck to the young fella. After that performance I could see him making up the 2 games to give him 100 in the Dark Navy Blue. Now not sure at all.

We'll be right. We need to improve our training if we play like we train. Judd at training fluffed a few and he also did tonight, so lets iron that out sooner rather than later.

Good to see Mark No3 and Kapt Kouta with their families there tonight. True Bluebaggers.

After that performance, I can safely say we will play finals if 8 other teams fail to make the eight.

I dont understand all the negativity. The game i saw tonight was a total triumph and an obvious change of gameplan. As many on here have speculated, the key is obviously being unpredictable!!!! I sat 10 mins ago and thought the game through and clearly the highlight for me was exactly that, the unpredictableness of it. Many of the players carried this off to a T. Heath Scotland in particular was very unpredictable especially with his marking. Brock McLean was so unpredictable there were entire quarters of the game when I couldnt tell if he was even on the park, for a bloke touted as a major part of our team and someone needing close attention from the opposition, this was a strategic master-stroke and must have seemed entirely unpredictable to the Swans. Our forward line was also a highlight, most would have expected all of our tall players to mark the ball and kick a score, that they managed to avoid that would have come as a total surprise to the Swans. Thank goodness we got rid of that Fevola bloke, I can now see how a dominant forward demanding the ball inside our forward 50 would have totally upset the unpredictability of our forward line tonight. Imagine if he had kicked 4 or 5 goals tonight, what would that have done to our unpredictability...pfft!!! As for recruiting, thank goodness we avoided that Jetta kid in the draft, it looks almost predictable that he will be a star with pace and a thumping accurate kick, there would be no place for him at the blues!

In fact the only bloke who I think let the side down was Judd! He was totally predictable!!!!!He just kept winning contested footy, made smart decisions with his disposal and carried the ball away from opponents. Even blind freddy could see when he approached a contest he would win the ball and do something great. We need to trade this guy ASAP or else the whole unpredictability of the team will suffer.

Thought our backline was good...

It looked as if we were doing a Collingwood/Hawthorn.....Hawthorn cos there seemed to be a zone in place especially in the first half cos the sydney players would try to run it out and they were met with a wall of blue...Collingwood cos we never used the guts and just used the boundary lines....

Either way it was shit....terrible to watch.

Bower was great...Robinson had a crack...Russell kept trying...Yarran showed real class....Lucas did some good things as did Davies....

Anyway...early days....I'm no expert but I still think Ratten is reactive to other teams game plans and not proactive in creating something that will compliment our list....
