Chris Yarran has been touted as a potential X-factor for the Blues this season but failed to exert any influence on the match playing deep in the forward line for the first three quarters. He was then moved to half-back for the last quarter and starred, collecting a handful of classy disposals and dashing out of defence with electrifying pace. He wowed the crowd when bursting out of defence and spearing a pinpoint 40-metre pass on his opposite foot without breaking stride.

Maybe a year in defence is what is needed to get his intensity up.....

Not too concerned to be honest, just a little dissapointed he has given people the opportunity to have a crack at him.........

For those that think he is a squib, you have a memory like a goldfish.....
I'd like to see how some people on here would react if someone put a knife up against their neck......Remeber what happened to that guy, who was a lot older than Yazz (only 16-17)!

It was all about self preservation in our 1st scratch match, trust me.

And just cause it was his own team mate (like someone else has stated), doesn't mean you can trust them, if you do your not very bright cause after all we are all only human and all make errors in our judgement.......Remember what Fev did to Santy??

did you watch the adeliade game round 22 last year.

Yeah I did. You have your opinion, I have mine. Some of you people need to get over it and move on.
I'll be as happy as anyone to see Chris Yarran become a Carlton great.

How about we talk about some of the other 40 players who ran out for a kick. :hitcomputer:

You start to think that these matches are to put on a show for the supporters and the real intra-clubs take place in closed sessions.
"As ye train in closed sessions so shall ye play" or something like that.
Maybe we're over-analysing things.

Return of the Jedi??? Hell yeah!

Sorry, things are a little different on Darwin TV. Good to see the Tigers picking up where they left off.

True, we need to Pump him up a bit more.

So in summary, Yarran didn't have his best game ever.
In an intraclub practice match.

Ok.
Got it

You seem to have summed it up Bluey. I have supplied a little more detail. It seems the day went.....

Yazz passes to Yarran... oh poor pass, and Yarran had spent it before he earned it. Failed to pick it up so Yazzah pounces. OH! He slipped, allowing Yarran to pick himself up and handball cear to Yazz. Bad handball there and Yazz fails to take possesion. Yazzah kicks the ball off the ground, but only as far as Yarran, who, trying to make ammends, heard some footsteps and SQUIBBED! OMG. Get him off and take him to the new training facility for a flogging. He will have some company as Yazz and Yazzah need some stern words from the coach. Wow, I hope the dreams of the club don't rest with these boys. Bad pick by Carlton and now, no longer worth anything as trade bait.

Lucky there was only one man out there and he only did one thing, otherwise, pages of entries would seem wasted, boring and not really enlightening at all.

Anyway, hang the mug. He wont amount to anything.

Hey Cazz,

Feel free to make a constructive comment, instead of repeatedly playing the man.

Maybe you could actually discuss Yarran's form, his skills, pace, lack of intensity, the ducking of the head etc.

Someone made a good comment earlier about training (which IMO inc intra club games) being reflective of where you're at etc

Coaches are always saying that the team played well and it's no surprise bec of the way they trained mid week

Superstars can perhaps go easy on the track, bec they have a proven track record of doing it when it counts, but some of these young kids are exactly that, and they need to get runs on the board - training is a good place to start

IMO there are training sessions and there are training sessions.
Coaches would not want to show off too much of what we've got to forward scouts from opposition clubs e.g. Scott West was there on Friday.
Thus at open training sessions players could be holding back a little. Also maybe why there are so few open sessions. IMO cLosed sessions are where the serious work is done.

There were a few more scouts sitting in the top level of the Pratt stand...one quickly covered his notes when questioned if he knew which players had certain numbers.

ok. this has got me worked up!

for those of you out there saying things like 'he is an outside player, a distributor' and 'its only a practice match'. Take a good hard look at yourselves! Its a load of crap

Whether its a practice match or the real stuff for points, and its your turn to go, YOU DAMN WELL GO! No questions.

Can anyone tell me a better way to earn the respect of the players around you than by standing your ground and wearing whatever comes your way??? I doubt it

Needs to seriously toughen up IMO before he warrants selection.

It was embarrassing to watch. I wouldn't think robbo is a heap bigger than yaz yet in his first few practice games and last years nab he was throwing himself in with no regard for his body. Yaz must do the same to earn his spot!

Looked far better at HB, had some lovely kicks on the run from defense.

Earlier though, up fwd, he failed to make an impression, and appeared to not attack the ball when it was in his area. Needs to go after it more, instead of sit back and wait for it to come to him. If he can do that he could be a lovely player bec he certainly has skill and speed.

I'll be the first to say he needs to lift his intensity but apart from the mark he spilled when he dropped his head I didn't see too many other so call squibby acts. Quite a few times he actually rode tackles and turned into traffic in an attempt to create play but it didn't come off. I think we tend to remember the negatives far more than we remember the positives. As soon as carazzo muffed that shot on goal I knew the forum would be rampant with posts mocking his disposal. People tend to dismiss the 30 odd touches he got and focus on the 4 or 5 missed targets.
