Would go bluray nowadays.

Jesaulenko by far the biggest steal...was bound for North Melbourne...a few strings were pulled, favors from the Prime Minister called upon and a magical loophole appeared clearing a path toward Carlton. And people wonder why we're arrogant.

yeah but that was in 1968.....
and our last decade has been woeful....

we should be arrogant because we have the nouse today.

about the time we did that.. Fitzroy had as many flags as us.......

but yeah i agree... Jezza was a steal

probably my fav Carlton player of all time.

Er, actually it was 1967.

I think Brad Pearce was a bit of a steal at #32 in the PSD.

Was it Perce Bentley, Ken Hands and someone else who visited a Mr Nicholls on a farm near Maryborough to sign up Don Nicholls? Apparently Mr Nicholls said you can sign up Don if you take his young brother John too.

Now that was a steal.

It was Bert Deacon; and the words were "Yep.....you can have Don, as long as you also take the fat kid on the bike"......

The bloke that went to St Kilda and netted us Livingstone was a good pick.....70 something. Pity his replacement didn't quite have the same impact

I think it was Newton Chandler. And the story I heard was Mr Nicholls gave his consent to sign Don, as long as ''the fat kid on the bike in the back yard goes too''.

I believe that was our allotted under-age pick for that draft. The same system that saw Sydney net Adam Goodes so late.

We stole Kouta from athletics, not a bad steal.

Dean Rice was a great pick up. Most people thought he was finished after his knee. Hicky was a great pick up for a low price as well. He was a goer at Geelong but he was as tough as they come at Carlton. As fearless as anyone. One of my all time favourites.

That great "goal" by Diesel against the WC Eagles @ PP in 1996 was a fantastic steal!

Earl Spalding was one of our best steals. The Duke was instrumental in Carlton winning the flag in'95.

I still maintain that Corey McKernan for Mark Porter was a good steal.

One of my favourite memories of him was in his third season with us, Round 18 against Essendon* when he bagged 5 goals.
