No Pre- or Post- Game function before the Blacktown game

Actually nothing has been organised or looks like being organised.

This is the only time we play in Sydney this year, so I thought the club could organise something, given that they will have to fly home the next day because the game doesn't start til 8pm.

Could everyone in Sydney simply inquire with Ian Coutts (ian.coutts@carltonfc.com.au) whether something is being organised? Even simply 10-15min after the game so kids can get to meet the players on the oval or just outside the ground.

Well obviously your topic heading is bound to get you on the right side of everyone at the club right from the start.

The Club contacted the NSW Supporters Group two days ago to say they had been unable to organise anything. I don't believe a reason was given, although I know they initially thought a venue would be difficult to organise.

I guess it is worth enquiring with Ian Coutts to see what happened for those who are disappointed.

Molly I havnt heard from Adele and my offer wasnt a joke so its a shame that they take that stance. Then again the NSWSG in Syd are from a completely alien area to Western Sydney and probably have no idea.

For what is worth I am very involved in the area and cant believe that we are so slack - Ill send an email and Ill provide more than a few contacts and if they cannot organise something then as a club we are unbelieveably pissweak ......

If I post what I'm thinking right now, I'll be banned for a while, so let's just leave it at "I'm not terribly impressed"

I'll be making contact with Ian Coutts, but I'm not holding my breath for a reasonable response. I urge all Sydney and Canberra Carlton members to do the same, and express their 'disappointment'

Guys I can put the club directly though to the GM at Rooty Hill RSL ie no transfering staight there if the want so I cant undertand why they havnt managed that themselves - It may be a very westy club but it is one of the bigger clubs in Syd in general(actually one of the biggest by far) and it is the closest to the ground - Just to put into perspective Geelong are here next week and will be playing a trial match(sorry edited for accuracy - intra club match) at the recently refurbished Gipps road oval home to Parramatta and will be supplementing their list with around 12 local talented players. Gipps is now a great looking playing surface but I could definately offer better something KK can testify to - why are we always behind other clubs when it comes to promoting things in Sydney - dont they know how many of us support them here?

We do not need a function away from the ground. It would be good if they could simply organise a place on or off the ground after the match for kids to get autographs. No more no less.

It would have to be before the match, because the match ends at 10pm. And we wouldn't want the pesky supporters and fans getting in the way of much more important things like sponsors meetings and stuff like that..... :garthp:

If I lived in Sydney, I'd be attempting to go all the way to the top & asking Greg Swann either by email or phone (if you manage to get through), who is not doing their job properly at the club? I do not go to these types of functions myself, but I do recognise how important they are to our interstate supporters who don't get the opportunity to make it to many Carlton games live. Very poor form, we cannot afford any passengers this year, & that goes from the rookie list player all the way through to whoever is responsible for interstate promotions & up to the CEO & board.

It is a great opportunity to promote CFC.

Interstate travel to Sydney will be an annual event come GWS, so the future is not far away.

It's time to sow the seeds in Sydney CFC.

Many a Carltonian based on Sydney is a member despite not attending many games. I'm lucky as I see them a fair bit around the country and of course Melbourne because I travel a fair bit. The point is that there are plenty of potential supporters let alone members to come from this market.

It is time to start spruiking and let the existing Carltonioans based in Sydney to encourage impartial supporters to support Carlton and no doubt many of those once hooked will become members.

Hawks go to Tassie to build their brand and supporter base.
Doggies like to go to Darin to do the same.
Roos have tried the ACT and GC, but it's all against them.

Lets smwll what the Blues are cooking interstate.

Imo the last time Carlton played in Sydney was at Homebush. We got flogged but our support was there for the boys, and I'd say the supportl 50/50.

Lets take a big picture view and get the boys to meet the supporters.
Do it on Sunday morning and then fly out after lunch. Use your brains Carlton. It's called 'OPPORTUNITY" to grow the brand and show appreciation of your folllowers/ members.

Poor.

The other venue that could have worked might have been the Blacktown Workers Club.

I can't go that night anyway, but maybe my questions at the 2006 supporters' function have them running scared. (just joking)

There is a time for negative observation - & a time to be positive. The difference b/w many Carlton supporters & you Synbad is we just know when & when......

You know they have something up there sleve? Great shame they dont want to let thsoe of us here know about it.

Also I didnt meant to sound like the NSW SG havent tried to organise something (just they wouldnt be familiar with the area) because they did but the club wasnt all that responsive apparently.
