..heard the news on radio this mornin' too, and naturally some radio hosts made fun of the situation.. ..but if the ground's flooded there really was no point.. ..gettin' a bit of fun poked at us is ok over such a non-issue.... ..players sans injuries is more important..

If they want someone to ring up and make excuses, try getting someone who can remotely communicate with the media.

Flooded.
Unless they left the sprinklers on, they're dreaming.

Just got to Visy Park and was advised of the cancellation. I understand the decision but on a personal note taking the day off work to see our boys in action for the first time has upset me a little

Hmm, understand your sentiment, but with all due respect if you had looked at the weather forecast 2-3 days ahead, you'd have noticed nothing but stark rain forecaste for today. I wasn't surprised at all the session was canceled in light of this (pardon the pun).

I didn't commit to taking the half day off bec of the gloomy forecast all week.

Proof yet again - No REAL Carlton supporter could give two flowers about what that [REDACTED] Eddie thinks says or does let alone taking time out to post it here.

Disappointing it was cancelled, but no great surprise.

No point the club playing an intra-club game in such conditions.

Not fussed with the cancellation. The whole point was to get a good gauge of our players in a regular match simulation hit out. It would be pretty hard to gauge a player's skill and development in these conditions unless we play in the wet for 22 rounds a year.

Well done Blues!

unfortunately, didn't check the internet before going this morning and got there to find out it was cancelled.

There was a pretty good turn out considering the weather and the club handled it well and tried to give us something for attending.

First our communications manager took us on a brief tour of the new facility. The players trained indoors and done a light skills session and then went outdoors. Half the group went for a time trial while the other had a pretty intense skills session. Then they swapped. There was a drill where 7 players were in the goalsquare and they had to push and shove and muscle there way out of the pack to make a lead to one of three coaches kicking the ball towards them. If kreuzer plays forward he is going to cause some havoc he was unstoppable.

Before they came out to train someone from the club came out to explain why it was cancelled. He said:
-fantastic preseason so far, didn't want to risk the welfare of the players as it was going to be a comprimised game anyway. Next week at 4pm on Friday there will be an intra club game where it will be proper. 18 v 18 with afl umpires.

He also said ratts was going to come out and speak to us about the preseason so far and the young players and their progress. I waited until 12 for him to come out but had to leave. If someone stayed and he did come out would appreciate knowing what he said.

thanks ekrem!

good response by the club.

the decision to cancel is in their hands and if they think this was best than so be it
there is no obligation with the scheduling. they can chop and change.
its all about round 1

Good work ekrem.
I went past on the tram at about the appointed time and the place looked as greasy as an Eddie McGuire smile so I figured I'd let the old ladies stand in the aisle a bit longer, maintain my seat and travel onward.

tally ho!

Why is our club so backwards. I like a bit of Miles Davis but really the young people today don't even like jazz.

Good effort by the club on all counts. KB & Eddie aren't doing anything more than grandstanding.

Said that Murphy would play either week 2 or 3 of the Nab cup/challenge.
Warnock has been in full training since before christmas and hasnt missed since.
Yarran has been in the top 3 trainers this preseason.

There will be a practice match next Friday at 4pm with a sausage sizzle and membership and merchendise for sale.

Now that is just about the best news out of the pre season so far isn't it?

I bumped into ratts on the way back to my car.. he said it was only going to be a match of a few 15min quarters.. a lot of guys werent training because of flu.. so it would have been pointless.. instead they had a proper training session.

walks killed the time trials, as did brock. They all ran past me on my way in.. was surprised to see carlos eddie and hendo so far up the ranks..! well done to them.

Also heard a few of the boys yelling a bit of encouragement (i think) to rhys okeefe when he was doing the box out drill in the goal square.. sounds as if he ran yet another 3km P.B...

Chris Judd touched my arm. OMG OMG OMG.

That is all.

Oh shit, here we go again !!!!!!!!!!!!
Pls, someone, put Cloke and Setanta on the same side this time !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait :donk: :donk: :donk:

On a serious note 4 pm works A LOT better for me (I am just down the road at Melb Uni) so I couldn't be happier about the cancellation :D. Lets just hope it's not a stinking hot day (I don't care about the boys overheating, I'm more concerned about myself (red hair, fair skin) getting burnt)

Spewin..
I had to crawl out of bed at 7.30 this morning.
Got to the ground and the bloke at the gate said it was called off. I really wanted to have a look at the new facilities too. Oh well, 10am is a ridiculous time anyway. Too early.

Dear Ratts,

OK it was no big disaster that the game was called off but please promise us that, if when we play Brizvegas up at the Gabba in round 2 there's a torrential downpour an hour before the game, that we don't forfeit!

Yours truly,
Jaguar
