Here are a few curly ones to keep idle minds occupied until the start of the footy.

No prizes, just glory.

1. Carlton first played Collingwood (and beat them) on 7 May 1892. What was the gesture made by our club after the game which has surely never been repeated?

2. Which player was in the final twenty one listed for the 1970 Grand Final for Carlton, but didn't make the team?

3. How much prizemoney from sponsor W.D. & H.O. Wills did the Blues receive for winning the premiership in 1970?

4. Who played their fiftieth game in the 1975 First Semi-final?

5. Two ex-Collingwood players have coached Carlton. Who were they?

6. 16yo John Masters was on the ground representing Carlton and wearing the jumper on Elimination Final day at VFL Park in 1977. Why?

7. Which future Carlton star played in Prahran's 1978 VFA premiership team?

8. Which Carlton premiership player finished second in the club's reserve grade goalkicking in 1982?

9. Who broke their jaw in Round 14 of 1987, but was able to recover in time to play in our flag of that year?

10. What VFL team did Carlton legend Peter Dean support up until he was 12yo, before switching his allegiance to Carlton?

Answers in this thread as people get them.

Probably should've been clearer about that in the first place. :donk:

If questions don't have an answer by Monday, I'll put up the solutions then.

Good questions.

I can start off a few for the quiz.

7 -re- Prahran player was the fabulous Wayne Johnston

5- re- who were the ex-Collingwood players as coach - Dan Minogue and Percy Rowe.

4- having a punt on that one. Rod Ashman?

3- how much prizemoney? not enough.

The remaining questions I will let others answer.

Good start Tap.  Rowe and Minogue were the coaches from Collingwood, and the Dominator played just one season for the Two Blues for one flag. I was on the boundary that Grand Final day at the Junction Oval. Bliss.

The other eight questions are still up for grabs.

Didn't he play but came off at half time for Teddy Hopkins?

Correct on the first question, but not on the second. Thornley played in the game, but was replaced at half-time with Ted Hopkins, in what was Barassi's most famous substitution of his coaching career.

Correct on questions 6 & 8 Dom. You are the Blues historical guru.

Still not there on question 2.

Was it Bruce Doull? re 21st man for the 1970 g/f.

Also, was it Ashman for the 50th game at 75 1st semi? or someone else?

Correct on Bruce Doull, and bonus glory if you know what his jumper number was that year.

It wasn't Rod Ashman who celebrated his fiftieth.

did doull play in the number 4 jumper in 1970?

think it was richard dennis that broke his jaw in 1987 (q 9).

Yes to the number worn by Bruce Doull, but it wasn't Richard Dennis who broke his jaw.

Correct on Rod Austin for the fifty games milestone.

Tap in 79 answered Bruce Doull correctly earlier for the 21st man in 1970.
