Have watched Hawthorns expansion into Tasmania the last few years bringing it lots of extra members and money and wondered if we should look at a similar association with Canberra.

We still have a $6mill+ debt and the AFL want a serious presence in the ACT area which I noticed has a population now of 340,000 (497,000 in Tasmania).

The Carlton brand is popular across Australia but with ACT having no local AFL team closely associated with it and being so close in proximity to our home base of Carlton, it seems an opportunity worth grabbing before anyone else claims the Canberra market.

Could be some fun road trips and gatherings to be had for our Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane based supporters as well.

Thoughts on 3 or 4 HG's in Canberra?

The A.C.T. govt aren't very happy with the bang they've got from their buck. Wouldn't be surprised if the single game in 2010 is the last for some time...

well i'm all for it obviously
but honestly i dont really like seeing us sell any game unless we really have to.

our debt will clear naturaly with our golden era anyway.

Carlton (Melbourne) is our home.

lets use the NAB cup to do the interstate/rural rounds

I think it has as much chance of being a success as this ad...

...apart from that I would love it if it happened.

Do IT!@!!!

Seriously though - Manuka holds 15K. That's why the only games we ever hold here are Footscray/Norf/Melbourne v Sydney. Low drawing games.

If the proposed Bruce Precinct ever gets up it might be worth a look again but that won't be before the World Cup anyway. AFL missed the boat up here. If we get 3/4 GWS games I'll be happy I reckon. Local footy rocks anyway.

ACT govt are clueless. They are the local government which was never voted in by the public. Local govt by stealth, but thats a whole different story.

Would love the Blues to play here - almost became a reality last season but the Blues won a NAB match which meant that the proposed "mickey mouse" non NAB cup game would have seen the Blues play at Manuka. I was torn about winning that NAB match - cause I really wanted to see them here.

Anyway - A NAB Cup match in Canb here or there would be the best option in the short term, but given the push for GWS, I can't see it happening anytime soon......

Sheedy to GWS looks to be a masterstroke as 3 or 4 games in Canberra has been suggested by different people ever since GWS got the green light yet it has never received the same sort of coverage (not that this is major coverage)...
